  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Sweet, maybe we can trade our most valuable piece in Dan Hud- Wait, s***. That's not going to happen. Hudson is Ruffcorn, McCarthy, Broadway, Poreda, Dexter Carter, etc, etc......
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Rosenthal says that the White Sox are out of the Dunn sweepstakes again. In other news, we should have resigned Jim Thome. http://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/19963760931 I don't know how he'd know that but that's good news. Screw those guys. Let them get their draft picks for Dunn. And if he lands on another AL team this year, that's the way it goes
  3. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) If we can get Dunn AND keep Jackson, and Coop really can work his magic with him, I think the White Sox would have to be seen as a legitimate threat to the Yanks. I'd let the Nationals have whatever they want for Dunn. I'd give up Viciedo and any other minor leaguer. To rent a guy for 2 months??? Anyone who advocates trading Viciedo under these circumstances has a screw loose.
  4. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) @CSNChi_Beatnik - Jackson is merely the most crucial piece to securing Adam Dunn...The big fella is on his way to Chicago, friends. Waiting on Nats sign-off. Edwin is the prize Nats covet. I'd say Edwin-Viciedo possible but pricey. Morel, I could see. A Triple-A starter, I could see. Anyone who advocates trading Viciedo has a screw loose. The hell with the Nats and Dunn. Keep Jackson and play the offensive hand we've been dealt.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) As much as this board mocks the NL, I'm surprised the trade hasn't been criticized more because of this fact. Judging from past comments about the NL, Jackson is going to give up nine runs a game. Jackson is 3-0 vs AL this year and has pitched into the 7th inning 10 times.
  6. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) I do understand that as a hitter he is a top prospect. I saw "C" by his name and I was like "YEAAA" then I read where he's not so good at defense...I know he can certainly develop that and if he turns out to be a catcher who can play good defense and hit a ton then awesome. AJP isn't much at throwing runners out, but he calls a great game and is one of the 'headiest' players playing the sport. I'd love for Flowers to work a year under AJP, though I don't know if that will ever happen. Lets not forget about Cole Armstrong. He played very well in the AFL and has good skills behind the plate.
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:59 PM) ... quentin? Thanks! How could I forget him!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Just think about how things will look a year or two from now with Beckham, Danks, Veiryo, and Flowers hitting 2-3-4-5!
  9. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) Welcome aboard. Yeah, Beckham should be the sox #1 prospect. And moving him to 3b is a good plan. Yet he won't be ready til at least 2010. It's good to be aboard!
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) He isn't even eligible to come off the DL until August 2nd. Didn't they say today that they made it retroactive to 7/14 so he's off the DL 7/28??????
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 10:10 PM) No one is forgetting him. But the earliest you can expect him to contribute is 2010, and that's even a pretty big stretch. I'm not so certain about that time table. He reminds me an awful lot of Robin Ventura and he looked "ready for prime time" during the CWS.
  12. I might be off the beam here but don't forget Beckham. If we trade Fields maybe the plan is to have Beckham play 3rd base or leave AR at 2nd with Beckham staying at SS. I'd have to think Beckham becomes our #1 prospect as soon as he signs.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) This does not belong in the Trade Winds. Sorry. You're right. I'm new to the board. If there's a way to transfer it out of this section, let me know what it is.
  14. This topic came up at work the other day. If we were to meet those rats in the WS one team would of course have to lose. Since it wouldn't be us, how do you think the Cub fans would take it? If the earth were to shift off its rotation and we did lose, beside having to move to Canada for a month or two, I think we could accept it and move on. Cubs fans on the other hand would be on a suicide watch. With all the hype and expectations heaped on the Cubs, losing the WS, to our beloved Sox, would just about be too much for them to take.
  15. If Broadway and Getz were in the package it could happen but is this the best move we could make? I'm thinking we stay with the pitching we have and get a "Willie Tavares" type if we get any help.
