  1. He looked good yeah, but I don't trust him at all yet. Someone coming up from the Minors and contributing would be a godsend right now.
  2. Javy has already thrown over 50 pitches. This whole series has been like that. Last nights loss was extra terrible in that it took 3 and half damn hours. Can't we get 3 quick outs!!!
  3. I think Crede will be out for the year, and the White Sox and Joe will agree to a one year contract while his back gets all healed up. Thankfully Uribe is swinging well right now.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) I'm happy he's turned it around and I was rooting for him to do so, and didn't bash him. However, I will not eat crow for wanting him to be benched. He sucked for an extended period of time and it was killing the team both offensively and defensively. It's totally understandable why so many people were upset. But from here through the rest of the season, none of that matters. well said. Paulie has pretty much sucked for a season and a half. He's getting paid millions, he's a big boy and should take some grief when he's underperforming so badly. but let's move on.
  5. Happy Birthday Q! I have your present in the bathroom. Don't ask questions...just enjoy.
  6. Well the Indians face the Mariners next, so hopefully the M's can beat up on them the way they beat up the Twins. Then we get a demoralized Cleveland....it could happen.
  7. Also, can I say that I love these east coast 6 o'clock starts. gets the game out of the way early. nice.
  8. Okay so since this game is relatively important, does that mean Javy won't show up? What's the over under on his K's?
  9. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 06:57 PM) My just-turned-5-year-old brother said "I hate that guy." when he saw his baseball card while going through some cards I gave him of this year's players. Made me laugh because I'm very sure I never said anything bad about him when we watch the games together, and he never really says he hates anyone. He even booed him at a couple of games. His favorite player is Dye, and he likes Quentin and Griffey Jr. Geez, that's a smart kid. He'll learn about Griff, but otherwise pretty sharp baseball insight for a 5 year old.
  10. Buehrle is "The Beaver" or "Beave" Look at him...plus he seems to have the Cleaver "Aw shucks" mentality. Swing Away Uribe (more last year than this one) Jim Thome- "Kalu Kalay" Just sounds like something he'd say after he hits a dinger. Cabrera-"leprosy" due to his previous bad attitude and becasue of his effing face...what's up with that? why does his face look like that? He has leprosy. Adam Rusell "yarp" reminds me of the guy that says Yarp in Hot Fuzz.
  11. My new favorite team, the M's tied it up in the 3rd. Yunieksy!!!
  12. QUOTE (oralsoxpodcast @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Russell Ahem...
  13. All new respect for the Kid, knowing this is true. One of the great all time comedies. Plus every time Clayton Richards pitches, I say "His mama called him Clay, I call him Clay" about 50 times.
  14. First of all, lets put aside that he's by far the most attractive baseball player that ever lived (outside of CQ of course). I was always a bit hot and cold with Pods as I'm sure we can all imagine. But when he was healthy and stealing bases, he was very very fun to watch. If only he wasn't as fragile as Liney. I didn't realize how much I liked Pods until after he was gone. Then when we saw him this season, I really missed him. But still...got injured too much. But still...he's an '05 legend no doubt.
  15. Welcome new Mods!! I'm relatively new to the board and like the atmosphere here so far. Not as intimidating and power hungry as other boards. Keep up the good work!
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) Anyone else notice that the BAL manager looks a lot like William Shatner? I noticed the same thing. He looks better than Shatner though. When you don't look as young and fit as a baseball manager, you have some problems my friend. As far as the attitude toward the Twins, you guys are right on. Although I agree with Hawk and DJ that we don't have much of a chance in that stadium, bringing in that attitude makes it a self-fulfilling prophecy, and one that the players can't have the luxury of thinking. They did it earlier in the season with the Yankees. I remember Ozzie specifically saying how when the Yankees come to town, you know you're going to get a good ball game and can only hope to compete or something like that. And of course we lost that series. This is where being the second team in this city and that chip on our shoulder doesn't help us. by the way, about this pitcher we're facing tonight from Yahoo Sports: The right-hander gave up three runs and a career-high nine hits in 4 2-3 innings on Friday, but left without a decision in a 9-4 home loss to the New York Yankees. It was his first start following a three-week stint at Triple-A Norfolk. Liz returns to Camden Yards, where he is 2-2 with a 6.47 ERA in six starts.
  17. Burres just brought back up from the Minors. Plus he's been shaky this year in the Majors...let's knock him around. This time I want AJ to hit a ball off that building in right and keep it fair.
  18. I can't believe this is true. If it is I may have to re-evaluate how awesome Griff is.
  19. Didn't Longoria break his wrist? How is he coming back this year? Get Linebrink, Longoria's doctor!
  20. I've heard that Kyra Sedgwick is the Closer. sorry...couldn't resist.
  21. Nice article. CQ is a GOD, and like I said before...I'd blow him. That being said...anyone else think that he'd be a drag to hang out with?
  22. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) I know a lot of people think Rongey is a cheerleader and never talks bad about the Sox and ignores issues, but the guy has a specific job to do and he gets killed by the fans calling in all the time, I feel bad for him a lot. you said something there, Rongey has the best worst job in Chicago sports. To listen to all those uninformed whining fans after games...good god. I don't know how he doesn't snap and start yelling at them. I think he does a fine job. As far as Linebrink, the most frustrating thing is that there really isn't an effing injury. Just inflammation. If he actually did something to himself, the month off would be more understandable. And I know that Liney is just being honest with how he feels and he shouldn't rush back, so like Coop said, let's just stop asking him already. Let us know when you're a week away. Otherwise lets move on.
  23. But I would think their building their new park in much the same manner. I think the majority of Twins fanbase exists in the visitor's broadcast booths.
  24. I liked his hitting, hated his defense and have heard he's supposed to be a tremendous s*** heel. At least to some of his teammates, not necessarily the fans.
  25. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) We didn't?!?...hey...I'll take it any way I can get it. Some good things out there tonight...some not great. Joe made some great plays...but is it just me...he just looks like he's in constant pain with limited motion. Clayton looked great. Take away his second start...I'd say he's been filling in quite nicely. He really did deserve better his first outing IMO...some very poor D behind him his first outing. you're right, Clay (his mama called him Clay, I'll call him Clay) pitched well. I just meant that without Carlos being denied a timeout, we very well could have lost that game. We're better than the O's and should beat up on them. Let's hope this isn't a sign of how we're going to play for the rest of these road games.
