  1. I never thought I'd be grateful that Bobby V. is a dick, but I am.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 10:04 AM) Feldman! Fom across the hall? a/k/a Bizarro Kramer
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 11:35 AM) The f***ing Minnesota Wild. I say good for them. They're not the North Stars, so I really don't mind.
  4. I'm sorry, but this is a pennant race, and skipping Sale's turn on Sunday because of the All Star game doesn't sit well with me at all. Especially since he could have easily come out and rested during last night's blowout. If I have to hear "Jose Paniagua" again, I'm going to kill somebody.
  5. If you have never seen A.G. in "A Face in the Crowd," you should check it out. Its a really good, highly prophetic movie (especially for its time), although it comes across now as a bit dated.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) I'm reading the President's Club right now. Not too shabby. I've been tempted to pick that up. It's been well reviewed, and seems timely.
  7. Let's take this one and the series. Stay strong, Gavin!
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:32 AM) CNN just broke out emails that shows Curley and Shultz talking about reporting Sandusky but then they talked to Paterno and he basically changed their minds. PSU is going to hell. The CNN story I read said they don't have the actual emails, so the quoted passages in their article could be misleading. CNN is merely reporting the contents of the emails, as apparently disclosed from a couple sources. But if half the story is accurate, Spanier almost has to be charged.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 12:57 PM) I agree with this post. The entire time I felt I was watching something in the Alien universe. Same here. Also, the strong female characters (Charlize and the impreganted one). The latter's survival at the end echoed Ripley.
  10. This is semi-amusing: http://lastangryfan.com/2012/06/this-wardr...ubs-thing-ever/
  11. Nice win; would have been another tough, tough loss. Props to Rios and new CQ.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) I was at the game for the invisible pitcher being called into the game. Me too.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 08:43 AM) I remember the olden days when Bevington and Phil Garner used to just hate each other. It usually meant at least one beanball war a season. Hard to fault Garner for that, though. I hated Bevington, too.
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) He probably came forward after the prosecution rested. He would have been used if Sandusky testified to how much he cared about his children, etc. That has to be it, but I wonder if he could still have been called to rebut similar testimony from the wife.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:45 PM) It gets worse. His adopted son says he was a victim. Good Lord. I just read that he was prepared to testify. I can't fathom why he wasn't called.

Just the ads for "Rock of Ages" make me want to gouge out my eyes and puncture my ears.
  17. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 07:58 AM) I don't know, I may be way off base here, so flail away if you wish. I have never met Dale Svuem, nor do I know much about him and just slightly remember him as a player. But......he seems like kind of a punk to me, like most other teams fans think of A.J. It seems that as many times as the Sox have been hit in the 2 Cubs series this year that most, if not all of those came from the manager. I don't follow the Cubs much and have no idea if they are doing this to other teams as well, but it sure looks like the times they plunked the Sox this were not accidental. Maybe it's Svuems idea of instilling the "we're tough and will not take crap from anybody" attitude that a team that has not won anything in over a century may need. I have no idea whether you're right about the "punk" stuff, but I think you're likely correct with the bold. Otherwise, there's really no logical explanation for what certainly looked intentional.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) I think Jake Peavy looks A LOT like Jeremy Renner.... That's completely ridiculous. Its the other way around.

Ahead of today's start of The U.S. Open, I just finished "The Big Miss" by Tiger Woods' former coach Hank Haney. It was ok. It gave a little insight into Tiger, but mostly to the extent that no one really has any. It certainly wasn't salacious or gossipy, which I didn't expect it to be.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) I knew Jordan played golf every day but I didnt recall it was with the coach who he probably should have hated for all he did to him over the years. I also didnt know that he literally didnt sleep for days on the trip. Me neither, and its funny because I thought of your comments/comparisons in the NHL thread about Jordan and Kane when they showed that.
  21. The DT special was very well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it. What Coach K had to say about the first college scrimmage was especially interesting, and I call "BS" on anyone who says that they didn't hear or see something for the first time, particularly the videos and comments from Bobby Hurley about that.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) Interesting Take Saw the movie last night and thought it was great. I also think this author made a ton of astute observations, most of which I can buy.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) Cubs fired hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo. I give Cubs brass credit they dumped him unlike the Sox that kept Walker 3 years too long! There was a column in the Trib just this Sunday stroking him for Soriano's recent tear.
