  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Wetzel wrote a gem on yahoo http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--jerry-...wttCnPzHuMcvrYF I had to stop reading that because my stomach started to hurt.
  2. Tonight, Roger Waters brings "The Wall" to Wrigley Field. As usual, Alfonso Soriano will go nowhere near it.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) A Prayer for Owen Meany A great book. Everyone I've ever recommended it to has thanked me.
  4. LA is really steamrolling. ps. Doc Emrick is a great hockey announcer.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 04:25 AM) I mean, where is Geoff Blum when you need him? He hit a homer that meant so much to the White Sox. And, yet nobody gives, him the respect. Geoff Blum might be the most important Sox of all time. Behind Ozzie Guillen. Please, more Geoff Blum. I think I get this and it is hilarious.
  6. Very, very cool. Paulie with the black eye is awesome.
  7. That flamboyant ring always looked like something Elton John or Liberace would wear.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) Damnit, you beat me to it. Yes, he was awesome in vocalizing the outrage of fans on that call. It made Deadspin and SI's "Hot Clicks" http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/extr...p;sct=hp_bf1_a3
  9. I shamefully forgot today was a day game. At least I got some good work done, just like the Sox.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 27, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) Here's the video I made: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xr5jcr_vote-pk_sport View it before the MLBAM police take it down. Good stuff.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 25, 2012 -> 12:25 AM) Is that what they were trying to portray though, that it was a dream? I couldn't recall when Rex said something about going to register if that meant he was back to the day before the accident or whatever. Didn't remember when "registration" occurred in the storyline for them. Yeah, I'm pretty certain of it. Rex and his wife both had lines commenting on him just having woken up after being asleep for awhile. Also, the lighting in that last scene was altogether different and more normal than the extreme yellow-ish bluish tones that dominated the different "dream" worlds throughout the series, further suggesting (to me) that it was "real." If there was any significance to "registration," I missed it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 24, 2012 -> 02:46 AM) Just watched the series finale of Awake....and all I have to say is.... Uhh......what? I'll wait until the rest of you watch it Thursday night, but I have no idea how to feel right now, other than confused. I liked it. It was a little unsatisfying, but I thought they did a good job bringing it to closure under what I have to presume were rushed circumstances. Taking a page out of the "Dallas" and "Newhart" storybook (ie. the whole thing was just a dream) was probably their best play.

    2012 TV Thread

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 20, 2012 -> 03:19 AM) Awake was cancelled, and it's become quite obvious in the past 2 episodes. Everything is moving VERY quickly. Looks like they may try and solve this whole thing in the next couple episodes, or however many are left. Yeah, it seems that way, but unless the producers knew it was coming prior to the official announcement, they may not have had enough time to arrange it. I hope there is some definitive closure on the reality issue; with mystery "gimmick" shows like that (Lost, Twin Peaks, Alcatraz, etc.) there's usually isn't. Ironically, I think that type of conceit can hurt more than help ratings, because people tend to not watch, fearing their investment of time will be "wasted" if there's no payoff. I almost stayed away for just that reason, and now kinda regret letting myself get sucked in (which I blame partly on his wife being hot).
  15. Has anyone tried out the new Nike "Hypercool 2.0" workout gear, particularly for running? I can't see paying upwards of $40 for a fancy T-Shirt to sweat in, but they've caught my eye. However, I'm a little worried that if I bought one, I'd end up looking like the guy who's trying too hard.
  16. Wow. Sure didn't see this coming: http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...0,5923608.story
  17. Paulie ! Gordo ! Humber ! Reed ! f*** the Cubs and their woody-loving fans !
  18. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) When your organizational moments of greatness are as limited as the cubs are, this is what you get. Think theo is reading the Rickettes manifesto and wondering what and the hell he has gotten himself into? References to the Ricketts manifesto should stay in the 'buster. They should have let Kerry cry in the towel he's drilled with so often in his career.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ May 18, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) No he wasn't Forget it, he's rolling.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:52 AM) WTF? Wood is announcing his retirement after the game and will be available to pitch today. Sure, gotta get that last standing O.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:27 AM) I know as Sox fans it's pretty much required to make fun of Wood. I've done it for years. But when he was healthy, man, I couldn't help but be jealous. And the 20 K game is still to this day one of the top 3 or 4 pitching performances I've ever witnessed. If you guys remember, the Michael Jordan Bulls had a playoff game that same night. And the #1 sports story that night and the next day was Wood's performance. With that said, LMAO@Wood for game 7 against the Marlins. That one game was dominant, but he was always severely overrated by the Chicago media because of it. Not to turn this into a debate over the value of "wins," but the guy was in the rotation for two playoff teams, and never won more than 14 games. "Strikeouts are boring. Besides that, they're facist."

  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) It hasn't. It has been an issue since his incident in Buffalo. Overall, I agree. Those who are coming out of the woodwork over these latest pictures are late to the "party." I noted Buffalo as part of a pattern in an earlier post.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 15, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) One bad season at age 23 after having wrist surgery and being jerked around spots inthe lineup??? His point production has dropped each of the last two years, and is down 25% from two years ago.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) Exactly, as long as he performed it was ok, which makes me wonder if people are more upset about his partying or the fact he hasnt been as good lately. Well, he has certainly opened himself up to that kind of speculation and criticism, but you’re right; It’s hypocritical for it to only be an issue after first-round playoff exits. Personally, I see cause for concern regardless.
