  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 15, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Ha, after looking for the exact games that Jordan was partying before I found this page: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/710162-...ht-with/page/26 Alot of chicago or former chicago athletes in there I don't remember MJ's performance ever backsliding much when he was winning his multiple titles and MVPs; certainly not to the degree Kaner's has over the last two seasons.
  2. We all saw Kaner at the championship rally two years ago with our own eyes and ears. Sure, he was young and had just won the Stanley Cup, but can anyone recall any of the Bulls publically acting like that during their championship celebrations? Any of the 2005 White Sox? Even if you excuse that very public, sorry-ass embarrassment as just excessive celebration, its now become the third in a series of well-publicized incidents that includes the Buffalo cab, the Vancouver limo, and this Madison crap. That pretty much seems like a pattern to me. I hope that these incidents and his apparent failure to live up to his potential are just coincidental. They certainly could be, but I don’t think they are.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 15, 2012 -> 09:00 AM) If you are this upset about Kaner, then you must be furious that the Bears would trade for Brandon Marshall. His record makes Kaner looks like a saint. Although they both have been in trouble (specifically regarding women), that's not really a valid comparison. For one thing, Marshall has been diagnosed with (and has acknowledged) a disease for which he undergoes treatment. Kaner's in apparent denial of his.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 11, 2012 -> 03:42 PM) Good news. Bad news, Awake axed. Not shocked but still. Of course it was. I liked it.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 11, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) Maybe Southpaw could step in for a game or two. But he's a southpaw.
  7. Our record this year against the Central has been a bright spot so far, especially since we've only played the top two teams. Let's get fat now off the bottom.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 10, 2012 -> 11:26 AM) http://www.blackheartgoldpants.com/2012/5/...sconsin-edition Some joke Nike Combat uniforms, the link is to Wisconsin, but they also have Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska. The Michigan ones are kinda badass.
  9. MLB's Rules Committee has approved a proposal to make the "fake the throw to third, then throw to first" pickoff play a balk. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...-3rd-trick-move I think the only pitcher I've ever seen have repeated success at that was Black Jack McDowell.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ May 5, 2012 -> 03:55 AM) Well hell... I care, dude. Thanks, bro. It was a tough one, sportswise.
  11. Thanks Adam Dunn; Its not bad enough you make millions and can't hit; feel free to loaf and kill us that way, too
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) At that time, they couldn't charge John Rocker with a hate crime because it wasn't yet covered by the Federal statutes, right? For his anti-gay, homophobic comments? He was basically just ostracized and derided out of the game...that and injuries took his pitching ability away. IIRC, Rocker's comments were made indirectly to a reporter; he didn't actually harass the people he was deriding, so there wasn't anyone directly vicitimized by a "crime."
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 02:49 AM) I hope the Bears work on that back shoulder throw a lot in camp. With Marshall and Jeffery's size, that's a pretty devastating play and near impossible to stop. My goodness, for the first time in my life, the Bears have some legit receivers. I can remember the Bears having legit receivers, but back when they also had Pro Bowlers protecting their QB. I agree that the Marshall/Jeffrey additions are really exciting. Hopefully, between the return of Carimi and the departure of Martz, the O-line will be good enough to allow Cutler to take advantage of them. I think they can be.
  14. I've seen two second round mocks that have the Bears taking Allens: SI.com says Jeff (OT; Illinois) and CBS.com says Dwayne (TE; Clemson). I think I'd be happy with Jeff.

    2012 Films Thread

Eddie Murphy in Tower Heist does classic Eddie Murphy. He's the best thing going in that movie, although I've also enjoyed watching Alan Alda transition into playing a great asshole as he's aged. Between this movie and The Aviator, he's come a long way from Hawkeye Pierce.
  16. Sigh. It is tough to be a Bears fan on draft day. I'm almost always disappointed, and when I have been excited, the disappointment usually ends up just being deferred a few years down the road. I thought with a different regime, it might be different this year. I too am bewildered by the pick, but I'm willing to give Emery and Co. the benefit of the doubt. He's not making that easy, though. I can appreciate that he meant it as a compliment regarding his overall athleticism, but as others have said, Emery's touting of his special teams ability really pissed me off.
  17. I just found this article, which contains the first images I've seen of the "final strike" other than the ones from Fox's centerfield camera that have been shown ad nauseum. As is the case with most side-angle views of a so-called "check swing," it looks pretty clearly like Ryan did offer at the pitch. I'm not sure if this has been posted here yet, and thought this might be as good a place as any: http://www.southsidesox.com/2012/4/22/2966...rs-perfect-game
  18. According to the Coyotes' TV color guy, Torres' assault of Hossa was "as clean a hit as you're going to get:" http://www.sportsnet.ca/video/latest/Hossa...ed-off?tw_p=twt Add that to the long list of things associated with the state of Arizona that are just completely f***ed up.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Committed Indians just reported 3 games for Shaw. I'd bet money that Smith plays tonight. What a f***ing joke.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) The NHL is afraid to suspend a star player in the playoffs. What a joke. I had a feeling he'd keep playing. Its ridiculous, but I can't say I'm completely surprised. What's even more hypocritical is how closely the refs were calling just about everything early in that game. There were three minors called in the first period on almost incidental contact that could have easily been let go. So much for the refs "getting a handle on things" early in the series. Shanahan just made their jobs a whole lot tougher.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 02:14 PM) Committed Indians CONFIRMED: Toews is IN tonight. Trib, too: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hocke...0,3729185.story
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 12, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) The Shark is one. Not sure if Bruce Pearl counts as a "big name coach," but I'd say Kelvin Sampson does. Edit: Jim Harrick, too.
