  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Now we get it.
  2. LOL at ESPN for having the wrong score up when the game winning shot went up (KY 75 IU 70). Way to go "Leader."
  3. I dunno. I think 10 would have been plenty. Nobody died, nobody got physically injured, and nobody lost their life savings because of what he did. Nobody's going to be "safer" with him in jail, and he never actually profitted from the Senate seat scheme, or much else. Hard to feel sorry for him, though.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 06:42 AM) He is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Unfortunately, I think he's too nice to be a college head coach because he's not cutthroat enough to succeed at recruiting, and if he couldn't succeed at recruiting at ND, I have a hard time seeing him do it well at Kansas. If he does find some way to get good players, especially on offense, he sure will coach them up to perform on the field. I think his calling in life is to be an NFL offensive coordinator, and I have no idea why he didn't just stick with that once things didn't work out at ND. I do like to remind my Michigan friends that Tom Brady has won zero Super Bowls without his ND offensive coordinator. With all due respect, you need to get out more.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:35 AM) I hope Illinois plans to keep Koenning around because Beckman is not exactly great coaching defense. The only time he held NIU under 63 points was when Harnish was playing most of the game on a leg injury that literally almost ended his career. With that said, and also considering the fact that I expected Illinois to do better, this isn't some sort of terrible hire. Beckman runs a clean program, recruits very well, and was 14-0 in non-NIU league games the last 2 years. I've seen many worse hires on paper than this work. I'm glad Illinois got him out of the league, and I hope he does well. This post made me sick. I can't imagine Koenig sticking around. I sure wouldn't.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) Happy bday to my Mom!!! easy one to remember. In the movies, it's also The Godfather's. Happy Birthday to your mom. And not that there likely are many on this site, but thanks to all the WWII vets.
  7. I'd still like to go for Frank, but the Hall of Fame just lost whatever remaining credibility it had with me. It's honoring McCarver for "broadcast excellence": http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/1635747...duction-weekend
  8. I think he's a talented, funny guy, but if it wasn't obvious already, Alec Baldwin clearly has some major issues: http://www.cnn.com/2011/12/06/showbiz/alec...html?hpt=hp_bn7
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Is it age discrimination to say someone's hours were cut in half because "they'll be retiring in 2 years anyways?" If retirement has been merely assumed (as oppossed to having already been specifically announced by the older worker), most definitely.
  10. Its completely illogical and unduly emotional, but if we are going to blow it up and rebuild, the pure fan in me wants MB resigned so that I have something to selfishly look forward to in watching him pitch every fifth day. I feel the same way about Konerko. It would be unfair to both of them, but I personally would find it much easier to endure 3 years or so of suckitude, if I could still follow and root for my favorite pitcher and position player. Its galling to me that we are going to lose an accomplished, durable, innings-eating staff anchor because of the ridiculous money tied up with Rios, Dunn and Peavy.
  11. I frequently see a car with "Kyzr Soze" license plates parked at my village library.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) The Leafs are in a different conference? Yes, I think I did see this. Bummer. Still a pretty good plan, though.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) Hawks/Leafs is great. Yes it is. Now they need to call that conference the Norris, and rename the Wild the Northstars (let Dallas be the Stallions or something). Then pump in that bluish-cigarette haze to the United Center, and we'd really be talking.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) No Minnie He didn't deserve it either. Less, than Ronnie imo.
  15. Meh. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...eball-hall-fame
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 08:43 AM) Hey, if you arent out in front of the pack with created leads, then you are behind the pack sitting on 8 year old stories that you arent required to report. it cannot be both. oh wait This is win.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) I just heard on the way home that Laurie Fine was sleeping with players since the 1980's...and the third victim apparently shared a bed with both Laurie and Bernie. There are now rumors of a "sex tape": http://deadspin.com/5863908/which-syracuse...ith-laurie-fine
  18. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 1, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) Wicked Witch of the West is an interesting entry. I've heard it argued that she's hardly a villain at all. Dorothy shows up, kills her sister, steals the shoes, then comes after her at the Wizard's demand. The version told in Wicked is also pretty cool, even if you just read a plot summary, rather than the book/musical: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicked:_The_L...tch_of_the_West She and her flying monkeys scared my s***less when I was a little boy. The Wicked Witch and the Evil Queen topped my list because they're the only villains to have ever truly made me cower in fear.
  19. Yeah, F Duke. And F Michigan, too. Thanks for showing up, Wolves.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Only two votes for Dr. Szell? I'm disappointed in 14 of you. I'm disappointed in me, too, considering I'm good for an "Is it safe?" reference about once a month or so.
  21. Apparently, hockey was not the only thing Wayne Gretzky was good at. The Great One also passed on some awesome genetics. Of course, having Janet Jones as your mom certainly helps: http://thechive.com/2011/11/08/paulina-gre...erly-34-photos/

    Real or Fake?

When I was younger, real to both. Now just trees.
  23. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) That also had a post saying mike locksley would be the first option to be hired after, I think I need to find a new college football team to get behind in that case. That couldn't happen in any fair world. Besides, the new AD wasn't here when Lox was, so that has to be so much crap. Give me the Crazy Pirate.
  24. Zook reportedly canned this morning: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/r...s/post/16258995
  25. Do this now, Jerry. In one sense, I'd almost take Orton over Hanie right now. His experience probably trumps Hanie's knowledge of the Martz offense, given that Caleb's only thrown 14 NFL passes. Hanie deserves the chance to start, but it can't hurt to have another veteran back-up, and Orton's far and away the best option available.
