  1. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) This is what happens when you don't have Old Timers' Games. That's funny.
  2. I'm stunned. One of my all-time favorite players, but this is not a good hire.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Posada gets an RBI triple off of Valverde, 5-2 Tigers. Swisher led off with a homer. Bases were empty for Posada. Meanwhile, Valverde is crapping the bed.
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) I don't know who to root for in this game, I want Nebraska to give Wisconsin a loss to help Illinois but I want Wisconsin to send a message to Nebraska that this is the Big Ten and it's not that easy to just come into our league. I was torn for just these reasons for about a minute. Go Huskers.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 19, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) bumping for anyone who might be interested, just started. not bad overall, definitely better than the previous two albums and some songs that are already standing out to me. Not sure what I think of "The Whole Love" yet. Its definitely going to require multiple listens, as Wilco albums (especially the best ones) often do.
  6. Someone needs to tell Brian Kelly that when you play in a major conference and face no less than three ranked conference foes, a September game against an independent, unranked, .500 football team is hardly any team's "Super Bowl," let alone "the biggest game on their schedule." And people wonder why ND Nation is often criticized as arrogant. http://www.ndsmcobserver.com/sports/irish-...-bowl-1.2621050
  7. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) White Sox should take Francona if he is interested. Won 2 WS and had a .574 winning percentage in a tough division. Never had a losing season with the Red Sox. Kinda interesting that he started with the Red Sox in the same year that Guillen started with the White Sox (2004). And now they are both out in the same year. And Francona won the World Series in 2004, Guillen in 2005. I'm not convinced Francona is the right man for the job. Great managers are those who can get more out of less. In Boston, Francona has always been surrounded with top talent and payrolls. His experience and titles certainly trump that of guys like Alomar Jr. and Martinez who have never managed in the big leagues before, but they don't necessarilly mean he is a great manager.
  8. Go Brew Crew. I guess I'd like to see them face the Rays, but those Tampa "fans" can go to hell. I'm usually resentful of the AL Central champ, but this year I'm having trouble working up any Tiger angst. I wouldn't hate an all-Midwest, '06 WS rematch.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) You aren't in the minority at all. It is just a vocal minority that really doesn't like Hawk. Overall, this is true.
  10. I haven't read through the whole thread, but is there any word as to whether Ozzie Plan season ticket holders will get their money back for this season?
  11. That's great. Congratulations!

  13. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) Wow you da man, I had forgot bout ray Durham, yeah I think I would put ray ahead of Cora a slight bit. I'd put Ray ahead of Cora by a lot. For a guy who's now a coach, Cora made a lot of dumb mistakes here. He got better over time and had his best years in Seattle, but I pretty much hated him for most of his stay here.
  14. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) And funny, loud, and in your face. The Sox could just hire George Carlin or Sam Kinison or Redd Foxx or Rodney Dangerfield. None of those guys have been particularly funny, loud, or in anyone's face of late, unless you count worms. Then again, a stiff might have done a better job managing than Oz did this year.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) On another note, sounds like we might bust these out on ESPN2 Friday night: Cool unis, but the logo on the helmet is not too original. It looks like Illinois'.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) I want Santorum, just for when a teacher assigns a project to a kid and has them look up Santorum. I thought this was funny. Want - Huntsman Will - The Flip-Flopper from Massachusetts (they go over big)
  17. Not sure where to post this, but according to the National Enquirer (hey, they were right about John Edwards), a new book by Joe McGinnis (hey, he was right about [?]) will claim that before she was married, Sarah Palin consumed non-white Rice. Also, she allegedly used to really like the snow up there in Alaska. http://www.nationalenquirer.com/celebrity/...-mcginnis-rogue
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) That was a rough one. Brian Kelly will get them going eventually, he's a good coach. Not on defense he isn't. He seems kinda bad at that (although that's not why they are 0-2; the TOs aren't the Head Coach's fault).
  19. Can't he just use that Elfin Magic to heal, or does that only apply to fudge striped cookies?
  20. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) http://www.theunion.com/ARTICLE/20110830/B...10839991/-1/RSS Seriously, WTF? At first, I thought the think was to The Onion. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
  21. For some reason, I woke up late that day. The first I heard of it was on the WXRT news on my clock radio. When they said a plane had crashed into the WTC, I assumed it was just a Cessna or another light craft. I'm not sure what made me turn on the TV, since I was already late for work. I remember it was tuned to ABC, from my having watched the MNF game the night before. My first thought upon seeing the smoking tower was, "that's going to be tough to fix." I watched the second plane hit Tower Two live as it happened (and I am now getting goose flesh as I type this). That's something I still think about more often than I'm sure is good for me.
  22. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) Baylor is suing the SEC. Funny stuff. I'm shocked that Kenneth Starr would initiate litigation. What's the Aggie equivalent of a blue dress?
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) Not much of a Speigel fan at all really much to do about nothing! Agreed. Loud and stupid.
