  1. Some days are Diamonds, some days are rocks. The White Sox rule, the Twins suck c***s.
  2. I thought we were done for both times we went down by 3. I also had a real bad feeling with Mauer on deck as the potential go ahead run in the 9th. I'm glad it turned out (again) that I don't know s***.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) It didn't look like he ever looked at Cox. That was all on his own. Maybe. Cox is down the line and almost certainly yelling. Alexei doesn't have eyes in the back of his head.
  4. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) **Roosevelt Colvin, not Dwayne Bates. Or did they do it with Bates too? Oh, Bears. EDIT3: Now I remember it was Warrick Holdman, or at least that he was one of them who they messed up. It was both, but it was worse with Bates. I googled and found this: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2002-04...er-jerry-angelo
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) The Bears are a professional football team, yes? How does this s*** happen? First the Ravens trade screw up, then the family night fiasco and now this. WTF. No wonder we can't win the Superbowl. The Ravens draft trade screw up is hardly the "first." The Bears excel at crap like this; i.e., the unchecked box with D'wayne Bates; the "hiring" of Head Coach Dave McGinnis, etc.
  6. Good to see Paulie back at first. Bad to see Rios back at clean-up.
  7. I see from the box that somebody named "D. Viciedo" went 2 for 3 with a bomb and 3 RBIs. I assume he must be some sort of a recent, waiver wire acquisition. Its a shame we couldn't have added a hitter with that kind of line earlier.
  8. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 07:10 AM) I'm sure we'll hear stories on how he's the "best shape in his life" in ST QFT Of course, Dunn could probably eat a bad burrito, spend an hour or two on the throne, and lose just enough weight to be in "the best shape of his life" right now.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) The website is in England. The writer probably paraphrased the weight into English weight measurement. I know, but the writer should either have used brackets or not have used quotes. It further dimiinshes what is already dubious credibility.
  10. That must mean they're leaving no stone or sofa cushion unturned to fund a big waiver acquisiton in the next few days.
  11. According to BP (I know) the Sox playoff odds are currently at 13.1. Steep, but not hopeless. The Tribe, who we are now tied with, are at only 3.5. I have to think the Sox odds go up swapping Thome in for Dunn, but that's probably more unlikely to happen than winning the division. And somebody please help me with J4L's photo reference, which I don't get at all. The kid looks like a young MJ to me.
  12. If Ozzie won't pinch hit for Dunn against a lefty in late innings with runners in scoring position because (according to him) he has full confidence in Dunn and because (according to Rongey) Dunn is under contract for several more years, what in God's name would happen if we effectively replaced him with another one-dimensional Lefty power DH? Cue the Ghostbusters' "dogs and cats living together" soundbite. Should we do it? Of course. Thome "should" have been DHing here the last two years. Will we? No way in hell.
  13. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) Yeah, the two alleged saviors which Cub fans couldn't shut up about. Is his middle name "Gary" or "Scott"?

    2011 Films Thread

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) Scorsese is pretty much in the same boat as De Niro and Pacino. I strongly disagree. Although not in league with Scorcese's greatest, The Aviator, The Departed and Shutter Island were all solid, above-average films, regardless if their direction had been credited to "Martin Smith." Its fair to say he's fallen a bit off, but its nearly impossible to keep cranking out cinematic masterpieces for more than 30 years. I don't think its fair to say he's followed DeNiro and Pacino into the realm of "Meet the Fockers."
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) Of course the Raiders took him Too perfect.
  16. Hits and runs are good. Defense and pitching, too. Consistency is really nice.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg739/scaled.ph...0&ysize=640 New Cy-Hawk trophy might be the ugliest one ever ever. Yeah, that even made the SI "Hot Clicks" webpage. They showed the old one there too, which was pretty bad itself.
  18. QUOTE (spiderman @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) Posted this in the Ticket Exchange forum, but really need some feedback. I occasional see White Sox Diamond Suites on some of the ticket broker sites. Do these seats fall into the category where you get free food/alcohol? When somebody is selling these, am I right in assuming that each suite has an allowed number in, and the seller is putting up a portion of them, meaning I'd be sharing the suite with a bunch of others? Any other luxeries with this - how do they compare to the Jim Beam club (or the new name for that)? Worth it? From my experience, I believe you get admitted to the Skybox, but that's all. Food and beverages there are all catered, and have to be ordered by and charged to the "host's" account. That's different from the Scout seats and Jim Beam Club, where its "all inclusive." In the suites, you can't really even order or pay for anything ala carte. You'd have to go down to the concessions on the concourse and eat there or bring it back up. Your assumptions about the suiteholder unloading just a portion of his allottment seem correct.
  19. Its Buehrle Bobble Head night, the only game I bought advance tickets for all year. With my luck, my son and I'll get skunked on the bobble, have to sit through two rain delays, and see the White Sox get shut out.
  20. Ah, notoriety and attention. Nothing on earth is more important than that. Anyways, I call BS. What white-trash American speaks of their weight in "stone."
  21. If he wasn't an injury waiting to happen, I'd consider letting Peavy hit and use the DH for Beckham. His last full year in the NL, Peavy's BA was .265 and OBP was .302. Both of those are better than Gordon this year, and lately he is just painful to watch. (I'm only kind of joking).
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) Ron Schueler. Larry Himes
  23. I just heard on the Score that the White Sox team batting average is like .215 with the bases loaded, whereas league average is .277. The overall team BA is .254. That's a terrible indictment of approach, and imo, of Walker.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 07:11 AM) I don't think it was. I'm actually surprised it took so long for this kind of post to pop up. I believe Ozzie got immediately blamed for Jared Mitchell's injury as well for making him play LF Toby Hall. LOL
