  1. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-07...-discrimination From everything I've ever read and heard, the White Sox are a pretty progressive organization, and JR would not tolerate discrimination of this sort. One never knows without actual facts of course, but as someone who deals with these claims for a living, most are BS. Failure to promote claims are notoriously difficult to prove.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Frank Thomas's career was probably extended by the better part of a decade thanks to the DH. I'd say there's a good shot he would not be a hall of famer without it. Maybe, but I'd say more like just the last few years, after he broke his foot in '04. He had suffered foot problems before that, but Frank was a DH mainly because he was BAD First Baseman and the White Sox acquired a pretty good one in 1999. He was a pretty tough guy and at one point had a consecutive game streak second only to Ripken. I think he could have and would have found playing time at 1B longer, if there was no DH.
  3. Both MLB and Meals have acknowledged the f*** up: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/6808357/...-19-inning-loss
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Also the White Sox are undefeated since Teahen was traded. The significance of this can't be overstated. Remember, the team went on its hot streak last year right after he got hurt!
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Have you seen those Nippon Ham Fighters? Why is their manager an idiot Venezuelan, too?
  6. Don't look now, but the M's are up 6 in the 7th.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:17 AM) I saw the reactions on twitter and I was looking forward to seeing the play. Then I saw it on ESPN and I was even shocked it was THAT bad. I'm still in awe. Like, I knew something awful was coming, and I was still surprised. The worst call I have ever seen in all of professional sports. Some stills: http://yfrog.com/khss0caj http://i.imgur.com/JiMyv.jpg Sucks that much worse given that the Pirates are in a pennant race for the first time in forever.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) If Stewart's pitching in PCL, then I don't really care what his numbers were. I remember Reds fans freaking out whent hey traded him for Rolen. Eastern League (New Hampshire).
  9. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) It's funny the original dude is brought up and people say yeah great numbers but s*** for a prospect, then we get a guy who has been pretty highly regarded and its yeah but hes got poor numbers Poor numbers in AA. At age 24. Hooray
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) Why couldn't Jerry fire Kenny and Ozzie before deciding to sell off our team? I don't trust Kenny in making deals anymore. Nor do I. Can't wait to meet the 2011 equivalents of Barcelo, Caruso and Vining. FWIW, I'm ok with this deal. I'll go bats*** crazy over White Flag II (which this is not).
  11. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) It means attendance still sucked. That I get, but does that mean we "deserve" White Flag II? Once was unacceptable.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:00 AM) The fans have never been "all in" this year. What does that even mean?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) I can accept the general concept of White Flag II. We went all in, but have been below .500 almost all season and aren't drawing many fans. My issue is if we go White Flag II and make bad trades. You can't just give up and pull the plug on this close of a pennant race twice in 14 years. That's asking too much of your fans. Especially when we are "All In" and this division is All Suck.
  14. I won't survive or accept another "White Flag" firesale. Not when we're 4.5 out and its July 27th. Not when we're supposed to be "All In." It took me years to get over the first one.
  15. On Ken Rosenthal's twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/Ken_Rosenthal Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources tell @jonmorosi that #WhiteSox-#BlueJays deal is close. Jackson, Teahen to TOR. Frasor-plus to CWS. Money could be in deal. #MLB 11 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
  16. Lance Berkman hurt his shoulder last night. Even IF Rasmus was going anywhere before that, he likely isn't now.
  17. Floyd going on Friday adheres to the order. Its the "TBA" for the rest of the series that is weird. That could have something to do with Humber, though.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) The issue there is...they are signing off on every bit of the debt. Congress passes the budget, the President can't just spend money out of no where. Every cent of the evil debt has been approved by Congress once already. Every cent of that out of control spending gets passed by Congress. They already signed off on the debt that would guarantee we'd hit the debt ceiling when they passed the tax cut package last December. Isn't this really what's happening? Can someone explain to me how the GOP can't fairly be accused of just playing petty politics by demanding conditions in exchange for voting to now effectively pay for items it has already voted to buy?
  19. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) I would love to see it be his swing right at the point of contact with his back foot about a foot off the ground. That would be pretty cool. Yes, extremely.
  20. I'm in. But I refuse on priniciple to be "All In."
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) Tonight's #WhiteSox lineup vs. DET: pierre7, ram6, pk3, dunnDH, q9, rios8, aj2, beck4, morel5, buehrle1 (game on CSN) A third of this lineup is hitting Below the Mendoza line against lefties. Good thing this series isn't too important.
  22. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) Nice, can you do a haiku now? I'm bored, so here goes nothing: Below ascends mound Throws heat to White Sox hitters Slurps his meat after
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) The best part is that people watched for a half hour before anyone reported it... http://www.fox28.com/story/15141934/social...-reducing-hours I'm impressed that he lasted a half-hour in front of a crowd.
