  1. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) For you guys who have seen Waters' current tour, is he just doing The Wall or is there material from other albums as well? Just The Wall. Going in, I hoped he might do a few other songs in an encore, like The Who did when they performed Quadrophenia. Honestly though, other songs would have been anticlimactic and wouldn't have fit.

  3. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) im sure this is part of it... but he definitely spent a lot of time talking about Northeasterner's going to relatives graves with news that Boston won the world series after the drought. I do agree with this. That one dude's description of his grandmother sitting on her porch with her stockings rolled down keeping score on "just a piece of paper" was way over the top.

  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 10:39 AM) Burns gives way too much time to the Red Sox. At least the Yankees deserved as much as they got. I thought this too at first, but when you consider that the 2004 team did something that had never been accomplished in the entire history of the sport (coming back from 0-3 in the playoffs), it does make it more justified, especially in light of their drought and the fact that it happend against the Yankees. In fairness, I don't think Burns mentioned their second championship at all.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) I'm still never going to be convinced that he was clean before 1999. He could just as readily have switched enhancers to Conte's stuff and been on something like the stanozolol that Palmeiro used, to just give him some recovery assistance. Stealing 400 bases can beat up a body, for example. I have no problem believing he started out clean, but its fair to doubt his whole career. I just think that his lineage and the fact that he was still a top prospect while young and skinny suggest otherwise. His mammoth statistical and physical transformation after that year also indicates something new and different was happening then. His reported "jealousy" over the '98 home run race provides a somewhat logical motivation for starting something up after that.
  7. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bullmastiff.htm Sounds like bad owners. My bad. My eyes read "bull mastiff," but my brain processed "pit bull."
  8. I watched it and liked it. Lots of Yankee stuff (along with the strike, Ripken, and the '98 home run chase), but its hard to argue that they weren't a big story during the period covered. Thankfully, a lot of the Yankee coverage focused on Joe Torre, which made it easier to digest.
  9. I've never understood why people with children keep those dogs as pets. Even if it's statistically high, why subject your children to that risk?

  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 09:15 AM) Thank you George Blanda for helping Peppers block that kick. Dude, . . .
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) He who's alphabet is without sin may cast the next I. Insofar as mine is divine, I'll cast.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) You're out of your f***ing element. That's not the preferred nomenclature.
  14. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 02:54 PM) That's not a sentence...does it have to be? Usually, no.
  15. George Blanda. I used to caddy for him. He was a nasty, club-throwing SOB.
  16. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 01:54 PM) Don't you understand what you've done? Evidently not.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 10:04 AM) f*** that. Golly, such language.
  18. I'm mixed. I'll root for the usual first round exit and hope for a sweep, because that will be hilariously consistent. However, if they make it out of the first round, I can see myself getting behind them because of Thome and the fact that I don't care that much for the remaining AL teams and/or their weakass fanbases (Texas and TB).
  19. "The Wall" last night was intensely and amazingly awesome.
  20. I'm hoping Joquain Phoenix on Letterman provides much needed comic relief. From one train wreck to another . . .
