  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:45 AM) Well you're right that not firing Ozzie has worked out since we're in first place. The point you make about getting a left handed bat though.....Teahen IS that left handed bat. Which is why it's asinine that Kotsay will probably stay even when Teahen is activated. Kotsay is NOT leaving the team, and I don't necessarily want him to, I just don't want him in the regular line-up. The team (players, coaches and front office) really seems to like and respect him. Those of us who eat, sleep and drink the White Sox have all heard what a great clubhouse guy he is and how much "intangible" leadership stuff he brings to the club. Given the turnaround this team has accomplished, that absolutely cannot be ignored or discounted. I'm not saying its all due to Kotsay, but without those kind of "intangibles," this season dies back in June. There's no question that if he was a jagoff like Swisher, he'd be gone. But he isn't. He isn't going away because (imo) nobody who has any say in the matter--especially in the culbhouse--wants him to go away, regardless if he hits or not. Its just us, because all we see is his suckitude. I do think Ozzie will give Teahen a lot of Kotsay's at bats, but those that think he's getting cut at this late date of the season are just not being real.
  2. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) He was all but gone from my memory until right now. Hah, me too, thanks SSI71 (you buzzard). Now, I'll see your Jerry Owens and raise you an Andy Gonzales. ps. I think its funny how Stoney keeps going with Kotsay alot lately as his PTC. You know he doesn't believe it, but its like some wry, winking form of sarcasm. I really like Steve Stone (and really don't like Mark Kotsay).
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) April 14-April 30, 1 for 23 May 27-June 5, 1 for 20 July 18-July 21, 0 for 15 Yeah, but, dude, that was an extremely hard 0 for 15. And he was really wearing it during that 1 for 20. Besides, he had a bunch of hangwiffums during the 1 for 23.
  4. 180. Missed two from the '08 division winners.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) cst_sox Kotsay must have used all his luck on his wife. For a douche bag, Cowley can be kind of funny.
  6. No tv at work, but it looks like Porcello's throwing a lot of pitches and only a few for strikes. We need to work counts and make them tap that pen early. That can sometimes affect a whole series.
  7. Rookie pitchers coming up big for Sox for the second time in four days. Thanks, rooks.
  8. I'm not feelin' lots of KW love right now, and am in no mood to lose to Gio Gonzalez today. Let's light 'em up. I'm hoping for another big day for Ramon.
  9. I'm getting nervous and impatient. Bring a bat.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) But that is money in the contract that simply hasn't been paid yet, it doesn't matter when he earned it. The Sox would take over everything on the contract from that point forwards, even if it's deferred from previous time. Not sure how it works as a pure baseball matter, but legally, it matters a lot.
  11. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) sweet, an automatic loss out of the 5th spot for the rest of the year We'll end up getting Zambrano and cash after he sails through waivers.
  12. Nats posted their line up and Dunn's in it.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) I think it was obvious who he was referring to. Still, that's a big difference if you're gonna talk about a guy refusing to deal because of it.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) Just hearing some snippets from the press conference yesterday and interviews over the past 24 hours indicated that. But not by name.
  15. Kenny won't cave to Rizzo. He'll either get Dunn for less than advertised (Morel + ?), or pick up a lesser lefty (LaRoche?) after the deadline. This drama may not end at 3:05.
  16. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) Well, if I wanted to win a ring, I'd definitely pick the Yanks over us. They have to be the huge favorites. I guess it depends on what his motivation is. Plus, I heard Berkman is close friends with Andy Pettite.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) What's going on with the KW press conference? Anyone listening? Score not broadcasting it live. B&B said they'll talk to their reporter when its done.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) masnBen #Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said the price won't come down on Adam Dunn before the deadline. #mlb less than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Yeah, but what's the guy supposed to say?
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) He is the best prospect that we had to call up and start for us this year. That I understand and agree with, but I didn't get the "impactful" part. He really hasn't made much of an "impact" so far, and we'll never know whether he could have or not.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) You really think that a struggling, terrible second half pitcher, is worth the $8.5 million upgrade while losing your youngest, cheapest, most impactful pitcher? I'm not sure what this means, but I think I disagree.
  21. Imo, 2010 Edwin Jackson > 2010 Daniel Hudson. By a good margin. Now go get Fat Elvis (and $) and call it a deadline.
