    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (SnB @ May 24, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) sooooo that shot of the wrecked plane at the end. was that the plane sawyer and co. were on? is that how they died? It certainly didn't look like the wreckage from the first episode I thought it was Oceanic 815 wreckage and the images were shown as an additional "bookend," similar to Jack's eye. I assumed that the folks on Lapidus' plane were among those who died long after Jack, as explained by Christian. The showed the plane banking away from the island upon takeoff, and it looked like it hag good altitude when Jack saw it fly overhead while laying on the ground.

Add me to the list of those who thought it was extremely well done. I understand the frustration of those demanding more "answers," but I think providing them would not have been in keeping with the themes of the series. I accepted a couple seasons ago that that just wasn't going to happen, and I think my "letting go" of that (wink, wink) enhanced my enjoyment of it.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 21, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) Based on something Darlton said on their last podcast, I am going to say that the final scene is going to make you want to go back and watch the entire series in a completely different light. You heard it hear first: Instead of a snow globe, it turns out the whole thing took place in the kid from St. Elsewhere's terrarium. That, or it was all in Bob Newhart's dream.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 20, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) So who does everyone think Jack's ex-wife is in the sideways world? My guess is Juliet, although I'm not really going out on a limb. I'll say Julie Bowen, since Locke was still together with Peggy Bundy.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 20, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) The Blackhawks are going to put the players up in a hotel after the morning skate on Friday. Trying to recreate that road game magic! I joked about that earlier, but even though that's gimmicky, it still makes a lot of sense, especially for a young team. Quenneville and staff really seem to pushing all the right buttons.
  6. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ May 19, 2010 -> 07:47 AM) The most points ever in a playoff season? 47 by Gretzky, in only 18 games. WOW Single season scoring via NHL.com "Gretzky has every record." I know this from commercials. I kinda thought the Sharks might be the Hawks' best match-up of the 3 so far, but I never imagined them coming home up 2. Quenneville should put the team up at a hotel in Naperville. And Joe Thornton is a pansy and a head case.

I so totally can't believe that Jack is the new Jacob. Didn't see that coming at all.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) It depends on Beckham and Quentin. If they're 2 all stars, then we're close. If they're 2 busts, then we have a debacle of a lineup. Agreed, but I Pollyannanish beleive that Becks is only sophomore slumping and that Q has got to still be hurt.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) What about the worst to first transformation Detroit did a couple years back? Are we that far off? No. We all were ready to cede them the division when they added Cabrera, then they finished last. Sometimes its just not your year.
  10. As has been said, trade the free agents to be and jettison the dead weight that is Williams, Kotsay and Vizquel. This snake bit year is over, but I believe we still have the starting pitching to compete again next year if our front office doesn't spend another offseason drunk.
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ May 16, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Damn it, you made me cry. Same here (and thanks).

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 13, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) I must admit when thinking back on this past week's episode it seemed like one of those random made for tv movies you'd see on the SyFy network. Lame costumes and dialogue, mostly obscure actors and low budget effects. I wish they had used more obscure actors. I thought Allison Janney's performance was fine, but her presence was distracting. I couldn't help thinking of her as "Allison Janney the actress" instead of her character. It was like Sam Malone showing up in the middle of WWII in Saving Private Ryan. Apart from that, I thought the episode was fine. I especially liked the parallels between the purge of Smokey's crew and what later happened to the D.I.
  14. Breaking news: Hawks just signed this guy to play on a line with Burish and Eager. "Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycocks. This shark, swallow you whole. No shakin', no tenderizin', down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But, you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me, by myself. For that, you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing."
  15. The Sun-Times suggests the Bears install Field Turf in Soldier Field. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/hayes/22537...-bear10.article Athomeboy cheers.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 11, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) Craziness, this had turned into a pretty exciting playoff season. Hopefully, the Hawks cut down on some excitement tonight, I don't wanna go to the UC Thursday and deal with a game 7. Jaroslav Halak stands on his head a few more times, and Ken Dryden & Patrick Roy are gonna have some company in Montreal goalie lore. If the Hawks do make it the finals, playing an #8 seed doesn't sound as enticing as it did a month ago. One of the reasons I'm pulling for the Canadiens (ugh) is that I'd really love to see the Hawks battle an Original Six rival for the Cup, which would happen if they make it and the Habs face the Bruins in the East. There hasn't been an Original Six match-up in the Finals for more than 30 years. First things first, however. Frankly, I'm worried about tonight, and projecting more worry ahead for Thursday.
  17. I think sometimes its just not your year. Radical moves aren't always necessarry. This team is more disappointing than outright bad. The 2008 Detroit Tigers were an awful, last place club too, but essentially that same team tied for the division the very next season. We shouldn't make changes for changes sake. We still need a bona fide leadoff man and DH, but that's no surprise to anyone. We'll probably have a new 1st baseman and catcher next year, but those moves have been pending for awhile and will be influenced more by contract status than how we finish in the standings. Imo, the only future move truly dictated by recent poor performance is closer, as Booby seems to be declining over time. I think Kenny should and will be patient. Not necessarily for this year, but for next. I think our "win now" window is open for more than just this one season, which is a good thing, because I fear this season is lost. I'm not convinced, however, that its the fault of any particular person(s).
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) That's not a good score for the cubs. From reading the inning-by-inning scoring report in small print under the box score, it looks like an error by Castro helped open the floodgates in what up to then was a close game. I hope that doesn't derail the non-stop procession to Cooperstown after just a couple days.
  19. NHL network has last night's replay on right now. I actually fell asleep and missed the third period, so I'm anxious to see it. Yes, I'm old, lame, and deeply ashamed.

    LOST!!!!

I have a question regarding Walt: Around the time Jack was having visions of his dead father on the Island, Shannon was having visions of Walt. Smokey/Locke has explained that he took Christian Shepard's form (much as he has now taken Locke's), but I think I recall an explanation that this ability is limited to assuming the forms of dead folks, meaning he could not have been Walt, who is alive. Also, Miles and Hurley talk to dead people all the time. So, have Walt's "appearances" ever been explained? Have any other alive people similarly appeared as visions? I can't recall any. Lots of dead folks, though (Boone, Eko's brother, etc.). And if an answer hasn't been given, but people know its coming, I don't want to know. Thanks
  21. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 5, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Foley giving it pretty good about the "wonderful Smith group" lol I luv Pat Foley, and I can't help but laugh any time he mentions Karpotsev. I'm so glad he's been back for the team's resurgence. It wouldn't be the same without him. And Eddie O may be his best partner ever. It was huge to lead that game from basically start to finish. The Buff factor is an absolutely beautiful thing.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:01 AM) Am I the only one thats shocked that Detroit is down 0-3 to the Sharks? No. And last night's game reminded me a lot of 05WS Game 3; home team, already down 0-2, blows comfortable lead, loses in extra time, and series goes from a contest to just about over in a heartbeat.
  23. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Just saw this on Deadspin; it's an excerpt from the book Are We Winning? about the Bartman incident. Thought some of you Cub haters would like to relive that moment.. Deadspin Link That was well written, but poorly edited. It refers to a walk to "Pierre," after mentioning that he had just doubled (the walk was to Castillo). I'm pretty sure that the "guy in the sweatshirt" is Trib columnist John Kass.
  24. QUOTE (knightni @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:46 AM) Or will it soon be "PlaySumFnJustinBieber"? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...tent_id=7808393 Ha! I just posted that in the other thread. Thanks, guys!
