QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) He's all talk. He cares about being fired. If he does get fired, he won't go quietly, and he's very concerned with what others have to say about him. A guy that defensive and that quick to throw insults at anyone that questions him, obviously cares what people think about him. -

Dunn gets a curve right over the middle of the plate, and barely hits it out of the infield? I thought he had power? -

Here's a dreadful statistic regarding the 2011 Chicago White Sox. They have seen the least number of pitches in the entire major league. Not surprising. They've also been caught stealing almost as many times as they've successfully stolen a base... They are one of only ten teams with a sub .700 OPS as a team. This team is pathetic, and a lot of those stats have to point to management, and their approach at the plate... At this point, it's like watching a train wreck, and funny bad. -

You know what's really sad? I would much prefer the all or nothing, base to base squad from a couple years ago, over this squad, every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. It's gotten that bad. They are just dreadful to watch, and boring too. At least they were hitting homers back then and hitting the ball hard. This team is pathetic at the plate. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Morel's mechanics at the plate are terrible. He gets absolutely no loft. Like a lot of hitters are on the Sox... Not surprising. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:58 PM) Is that the only place Rios can get a hit? Basically the only time Rios gets a hit is when he's lucky... That was a terrible swing, and he hit it right off the end of the bat. Burnett is pitching like garbage, but it won't matter. This team has no idea what plate discipline is. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) They called me twice. I told them we would not be renewing. Playoff invoices should be out in a week or two. And now Ownership/Management will really start to get the message. I am a firm believer in money talks when it comes to fans and their teams. If the team sucks, STOP GOING TO GAMES. I'll never understand the blind faith that Cubs fans have shown through all these years of total suck... One of the big reasons they are as bad off as they are, is because fans continued to go to games. If the income stops coming, ownership has no choice but to make changes to fill the seats. -

I could easily see this team going on a 9-10 game losing streak. They'll be lucky to beat the Orioles one game with the way this team is hitting. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) Hey guys I just started watching what happened with Rios? Got ZERO jump on a lazy pop fly to center field, which Alexei was closer to. Then, on a fly ball to center field, he threw to the wrong base. Again. Then Ozzie in his infinite managerial wisdom, pitches to Cano with first base open and Swisher on deck. Basically, Ozzie's decisions cost us 4 runs that inning.(he gets full blame for playing Rios) -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) I threw 83 mph with a good curve...I doubt they could. I guarantee I could pitch to their weaknesses. You'd have a good chance to shut them out, actually. -

LOL @ Ozzie pitching to him there... This team is clown shoes. I love how Hawk commented on first base being open, and then Stone commented on how Swisher has issues with the off speed stuff, basically calling Ozzie out for his incompetence. -

HOW DOES THIS MOTHER f***ER CONTINUE TO START IN CENTER FIELD????????????????????????????????????????????? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) Your last sentence is just ignorant IMO. Give me a break. You don't know squat about Ozzie's intelligence or anything like that and it is stupid to rail against him like that. He IS a major league manager, one of thoe most desired jobs in the world as baseball still is our pastime even though football is bigger now. How the f*** do you know Ozzie would be broke if he wasn't a big league manager? That's ignorant IMO. Some people act like Ozzie is this big clown who knows nothing about baseball. Hate to break it to you, but he does know a lot about baseball. It has been his life. And do you want to bet me he'll be in baseball as long as he wants to? Florida next several years, then who knows where else. And everybody should be happy cause our next manager will not be outspoken and will be closer to Bev in that regard than Ozzie. You can hate Ozzie for his candor. Some of us appreciate his candor. All I have to do is listen to the guy talk... The choice of vocabulary, the lack of understanding for the English language, his ignorance towards fans and media. The guy is a total douche bag. I guess nobody remembers the derogatory comments he made towards Mariotti. The anger-management classes. The sensitivity training. Ozzie wouldn't be able to last a week in ANY other job in this country with the way he conducts himself. There's being outspoken, and then there's being Ozzie. Professionalism and respect are two words that are definitely not in Ozzie's vocab. He's done a really good job managing the team this year, huh? There are people on this board that could manage the team better than he has. Leaving Peavy in too long, going to the wrong pitcher in relief, not moving Dunn down in the lineup, continuing to play Rios, his double-standards towards players, his refusal to acknowledge stats/numbers for certain situations. He is absolute clown shoes at this point, and I'm surprised anyone is defending him.

The White Sox: Where good hitters comes to die. Most of this team has developed "long" swings. What happened to Beckham? You watch him when he first came up, and now, and his swing has regressed into the toilet. Main reason he can't catch up to fastballs. Dunn has always had a long swing, but it seems even longer this season... if that was even possible. Rios is an absolute disaster up at the plate, and I don't recall seeing him swing this way when he was raking a for half a season.... Really, Walker needs to go. If he's not actually having a negative effect on hitters with his advice, he's CERTAINLY not helping them.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Maybe the 'stench of piss' comment was out of line, but I've seen people like this before. I'm all for giving people a fair shake, but the Gullens have NO CLASS, NONE, ZERO, ZILCH...their sense of entitlement and their mode of arrogance is just breathtaking. It's one thing for Ozzie to brag about his wealth, which is categorically pathetic, but for his son to act like just as big of an ass tells me the issues are endemic to the entire family. But I'll still say my SOP comment could have also been handled better. My point about the SOP is they are wealthy now, but they are still rednecks (redneck doesn't have to be Southern White either). I can see it. He's uneducated, ignorant, and extremely arrogant. I've grown extremely tired of his crap over the last couple years. The problem is, I don't think it's an act, either. I really think Ozzie IS that ignorant and stupid. If he wasn't managing the White Sox for the last several years, he'd probably be broke, and living back in Venezuela. Oney is just a product of Ozzie's ignorance and lack of education.

Does Ozzie have any clue what he's doing out there? Doesn't seem like it.
-
He wasn't a free agent. He was a waiver pickup, correct?

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)

QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Yeah that Teahen contract was really tying our hands wasn't it.. You don't trade a solid SP for a relief pitcher, especially when you don't even need one.. Im over it, there is no chance this is true.. KW has made some odd moves in the past, but this is too stupid to be legit Certainly wasn't helping us. Teahen is a waste of nearly $6 mil in salary next season, and $5 mil this season. Getting rid of him helps. He's useless. -
