  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) You know, starting Richard may have actually been a better decision. I didnt realize that the Rays start 5 LH. And Navarro is a switch hitter who hits righties better than lefties. Just from that stand point i hope Oz at least considered it You know how bad it is, when we're preferring Clayton Richard over Javvy? heh
  2. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) And defense, which our team sorely lacks on artificial surfaces We only have one artificial surface to worry about, Tampa. It is also a good homerun ballpark, so I think we'll be ok...
  3. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 12:26 AM) Well, I was obviously wrong about the Twins winning this division. And the Sox won it in very impressive fashion, probably playing their best game of the season. But I am still going to stick with my main contention: that the Sox aren't on the same level as the other AL playoff teams. I would like nothing better than to be horribly wrong again... You're right, they're not on the same level. But you know what? All that really matters in the playoffs is lights-out pitching, and the Sox appear to have it in Floyd, Danks, Buehrle, Thornton, and Jenks. The last three games were phenomenal. As we saw in 2005, a pitching staff can carry your club a LONG way. I'm optimistic, for the first time all year. Our big 3 pitchers couldn't have picked a better time to get hot...
  4. I'm eating crow after the last 3 days. I was going insane after the Twins series. It drove all of us completely over the edge, I think. But, the Sox REALLY proved they know how to handle the big games and the pressure situations the last 3 games. Big time pitching, and clutch hitting. Shades of 2005 even. Let's hope they can carry it over to the playoffs. Keep in mind guys....this might be the last chance for a lot of guys on this team to win a World Series. Thome, Griffey, Dye, and Konerko are all getting up there in age. How many more chances are they going to get? Not many I'd imagine. They have to really want this. The Rays are sweating right now, I guarantee it. We're a dangerous team, because our sluggers are desperate for a championship, and our top three pitchers caught FIRE in their last starts.
  5. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) The fact that Nathan was throwing 98 mph high fastballs makes me think bobby was too. Yeah, I don't think the gun was off, and if it was, it wasn't off by much. It's just good to see Bobby still able to reach back and fire like that!!!!
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:51 PM) i think their gun was turned up... i mean, i don't remember danks throwing 95... or am i wrong? I dunno. Most of Danks stuff was 92-93. Same with Blackburn. That's about right for those two guys, no?
  7. Don't tell me I'm the only one that noticed this. I haven't seen him break 94 but maybe once or twice all year. Evidently, he still has it if he wants it....
  8. I say the hell with Vasquez... Go with Buehrle, Floyd, Danks on 3 days rest throughout the playoffs! lol
  9. Danks looks pumped up... Let's get him offense for once!
  10. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) I got tickets!!! 2 for UD and I had a chance to buy more! 550 Row 6! Whitewashed....who is the girl in your avatar? lol
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) Was Alexei crying tears of joy, or is he sad DJ is leaving? Biggest game of the year, for a guy playing his first year in the majors, defecting from Cuba, and not only is that the biggest White Sox hit since 2005, it's also a new rookie record for grand slams in a year... Tears of joy is an understatement. The guy is living a dream right now. I love Alexei.
  12. I'd have to agree. Rookie record 4 grand slams, and a very, very good BA with RISP. I think he leads the team in that stat, actually.
  13. Mark pitches 7, and gives up 2 runs. We score 7. Our bullpen comes in and gives up 8 runs. We lose the game tomorrow 10-7. That's my prediction.
  14. This thread should be "who WOULDN'T you like to see gone before '09"? Because, as it stands, there's maybe 5-6 players I'd like to see back in a Sox uniform next year. I would love to see the majority of these guys never play with the Sox again.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) We've seen the offense just fall off the table in 4 straight seasons now after the ASB. Let's go get Roberts and Figgins this offseason, and take it from there. That's what happens when half your order, and the top half at that, is 35 year old guys that just try to hit home runs...
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:48 PM) Why on earth would you not feel out what people would trade for Jenks? True, especially with Thornton able to close(IMO). Take him off my list of keepers too. lol
  17. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:42 PM) Those of you who have given up on this team better not be taking up seats at the Cell during the playoffs. I want true fans who supported this team all the way to the finish to be the ones rooting this team to another series title. What a waste of money to watch that one game at the Cell during the playoffs, if they even make it. Because you know the Twins and Sox, regardless of who wins the central, are getting swept in the first round.
  18. I can't support a bunch of no-heart losers like the guys on the Sox.... Just won't do it. Firesale on all but the following players: Thornton Linebrink Ramirez Quentin Buehrle Floyd Danks Everyone else can f*** off for all I care. Our big money players COMPLETELY disappeared in September. How does AJ suddenly go retard with calling pitches to Gomez/Span? Seriously. On top of his pathetic performance at the plate in September, he adds those pitch calls to the pile of s*** that was the last month of the season? Wow... Dye, Thome, Konerko, all too old to make the run at the end of the season that is necessary to win a WS. Ship them, and ship them ASAP.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:23 PM) Guys stop s***ting on Dye... the guy was amazing all year until this month. Yeah, I want a bunch of guys who have good seasons, but completely fall apart when it matters most in September... Not really. They're all old, and this is what happens to older players late in the season. Trade them while they still have some value.
  20. rofl Watching this team in September is like watching a really, really, really slow train wreck take place. Absolutely brutal.... I'm laughing right now, it's so pathetic.
  21. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) JD: Pop out Thome: Strike out Paulie: Ground out Just move those results around a bit and that's how we'll go down 1-2-3 this inning. Our big money players have been WORTHLESS this roadtrip. I wouldn't be sad to see any of them shipped out in the offseason.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) It was like we were waiting for them to catch up. If they lose this, the part that will keep me up tonight is how we didn't throw an 0-2 hook to either Gomez or Span. I filled up on some more booze when I saw him throw the fastball when he was up 0-2 on Gomez. I almost threw up when I saw him throw it again to Span...
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) If it is, then AJP is in on it. Seriously. We shouldn't even need runs right now. We should still be winning 6-4.
  24. The breaking ball that he should have been throwing two batters ago...... two batters too late.
