  1. QUOTE (T R U @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 12:42 AM) That;s a terrible idea unless you are talking about a special theater ONLY for people who cant hear.. I wouldn't want to have annoying subtitles on every movie I see No offense, man, but that reeks of "separate but equal" doctrines that led to the civil rights movement. ADA laws require reasonable accomodations for public facilities, and it's ridiculous that movie theaters have been able to get away with it for so long. And why should I, and millions of other people with hearing disabilities, be deprived of enjoying a movie just because other people "don't want to see annoying subtitles" on the screen? It's not fair, really. I think seeing handicap parking spaces in parking lots is annoying, but I put up with it anyway.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) Don, isnt there special hearing aids for movie theatres if you ask for them? I never heard of special hearing aids, but here's an article that kind of gives some details about some accomodations that can be made... http://www.azag.gov/press_releases/april/2...ity%20Case.html plus, I prefer something along the lines of subtitles, because I'm more visually-inclined when I watch tv and movies. I tend to watch and depend on closed captioning, and I use my ears to listen for what the captioning/subtitles is saying, as if I'm reading along. I hope that makes sense.
  3. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Ill probably vote Quinn/G I hate G, but lines have been drawn in the sand and at this point the only way to potentially protect my perspective is to basically vote straight Democrat. I also am going to implore all of my friends to vote for a similar reason. Its hard to vote in non-Presidential years, which means that the more determined (aka older voters) will get more of a say. Regardless I think that in 2 years the Democrats will come back when its a Presidential election and people realize that many of the candidates were all talk no substance. Or I wont vote at all, hard to tell what will happen Tuesday. I really hope this is true. I hope in 2 years that most of our generation will come out in droves again and re-elect Obama for another term.
  4. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) Yeah I have a friend that really can't keep up with them. I can keep up but my eyes always stay focused down there so I don't miss something and I have a hard time getting into the movie. I have a hard time getting interested in movies as it is so that really kind of kills any chance. I really wish all movies in movie theaters had subtitles. I can't enjoy movies at the movie theaters because I can't hear everything they're saying, so I miss out on A LOT of the plot because I'm missing out on the dialogue. So, because of that I only go to the movie theater once a year, if that. I don't think it's fair, though. We have handicapped parking spaces, braille for the blind at entranceways, handicap access ramps for people on wheelchairs, but no subtitles at movie theaters for people who can't hear well. The movie theater industry is losing a lot of money because there's millions of people like me staying home because movies at movie theaters are not subtitled.

  6. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) My list begins and ends with anyone not wearing a hoodie! Haahhaha, but half of the time when I play poker in casinos, I wear a hoodie. I always wear it to keep the lights out of my eyes and have a little shade on my face. :-p
  7. Who does everyone want to see win the November 9? Here's who I want to win, ranked 1-9 from who I most want to see win to who I least want to see win, and why... 1. Michael Mizrachi: I want him to win the most because I actually met him once. Back in December 2007 I played in the same poker tournament with Michael Mizrachi in Vegas, and when I got eliminated in 31st place, they combined the tables and Mizrachi was moved to my vacated seat. I decided to hang around and watch the rest of the tournament and spoke to him during a break, he was a very nice guy. 2. John Dolan: I like his composure and style when he plays poker. I think he would be a very good ambassador for poker, and I would be a bigger fan of him than I am of Cada and Eastgate, both of whom I am not a fan of. 3. Jonathan Duhamel: I like his ice-cold demeanor at the table, he DOES NOT flinch. That's a poker skill I always try to perfect, and Duhamel has it down pat. He's also my hero for eliminating Affleck. 4. Matthew Jarvis: I like his deliberate playing style as well, and I think he would also be a good ambassador for poker as a WSOP ME champion. 5. Filipo Candio: There's something I like about Candio, he just cracks me up. He's not obnoxious like Jamie Gold was, instead he's obnoxious in a "socially retarded" way. Which is kinda funny. Plus I think he's the most comical of all the players in the November 9 to watch. I'd be happy if Candio won. _________________________ 6. John Racener: I'm kind of so-so on Racener. I do like how he cashed in some WSOPC events and he has live experience. But he just makes it to #6 on my list. I would be happy if he wins, but be indifferent if he loses. _________________________ 7. Soi Nguyen: He's another Darvin Moon. I'm not really a fan of his, but at least he's not an online poker geek. 8. Jason Senti: He seems like a nice guy, but he's more of an online player rather than a live player. 9. Joseph Cheong: Cheong is an online player personified. I'm just not a fan of "online poker savants" because I'm an old-school live player. Other players I wish made the final table instead of Racener/Cheong/Senti/Nguyen: Adam Levy, Ronnie Bardah, Hasan Habib, David Baker.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Please tell me someone else saw that Duhamel/Affleck hand last night. That was one of the most shocking hands I have seen in years. I thought Affleck was going to be in the November 9 for sure. He was easily the best player in the tournament and that was the worst bad beat I have seen in a long time considering the circumstances. Duhamel looked like he felt bad about taking all those chips. I definitely saw it, and I gotta say that I'm kind of happy that Affleck didn't make it to the November 9. There was something about him that annoyed me, tilted me, in the motion he uses to check.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 2, 2010 -> 02:39 AM) I'm 12 years older than you. I still have a giant VHS collection that I'm stuck with. I too still have VHS tapes. Now they're stored in a box in the back of my closet and they're the tapes that I'm too sentimental to throw out because I got them as gifts. Plus some are my favorite films, such as "Mad Max 2: the Road Warrior", even though I also have a copy of it on dvd. Plus... I still use a vcr to record stuff. :/
  10. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) It won't mean much to many, but I was walking my dog this morning and found one of the plastic inserts from the Intellivision controllers on the sidewalk. If you've never played, the game paddles were numbered similar to a phone - 12 buttons numbered 1 through 9 with asterisk-zero-pound on the botttom. Depending on the game, a plastic insert was placed order the numbers to control game movement. http://www.axess.com/twilight/console/detail/intv.html I haven't played Intellivision since the mid-8o's, so I have no idea why one of these inserts would be on the ground today. I picked it up, studied it for a little while, and then realized that I don't like littering. So, I was forced to carry it. Until I saw a mail collection box. Now it's off on the adventure of a lifetime. Postage due. I never heard of Intellivision. It's amazing how fast technology go from being relevant to obsolete. Funny story, but I was talking to a 21-year old co-worker the other day and it made me feel old... The subject of digital cable came up, and I mentioned how it was a "shame" that kids nowadays won't be able to enjoy watching scrambled porn, and my 21-year old co-worker didn't even know what scrambled porn was! That made me feel old, and I'm 25! It's funny, cause I went up to another co-worker that was the same age as me and asked him if he knew what scrambled porn was, and he did. I guess even in my generation that I'm part of the older "Generation Y/Millennials" that remember the older analog technology. lol
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Ms. Panther Jada Fire Kim Eternity Midori Tabitha Domonique Simone Jordan McKnight Ebony Ayes Janet Jacme Jeannie Pepper Hmmmmm, I'm definitely gonna have to check out most of the chicks on your list. This is what my list would've looked like 1. Kelly Starr 2. Jada Fire 3. Vanessa Blue 4. Kitten 5. Codi Bryant/America Moore 6. Diamond Jackson 7. Coco Pink 8. Ayana Angel 9. Mika Tan 10. Jenaveve Jolie 11. Eva Angelina 12. Gianna Michaels 13. Lori Alexia 14. Beauty Dior 15. Angel Eyez 16. Candace Von 17. Carmella Bing 18. Ava Devine 19. Audrey Bitoni 20. Whitney Stevens 21. Shyla Stylez 22. Gina Lynn 23. Jayden Jaymes 24. Katja Kassin 25. Lisa Ann Yea, I kind of watch a lot of porn.
  12. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) It should be something food/drink related, we haven't tackled that yet A food/drink related idea could be a Favorite Candy list. Or a Favorite Soda list, as long as it's not called "Pop". And for a non-food/drink idea, how about a Favorite Porn Stars list? I know my top 25 favorite porn stars probably wouldn't make the overall top 25 list.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) Why don't you ask the barber when you walk in then if he has an opening? If he doesn't, then you leave and yourenot being surprised by someone who called in advance. There are ways for you to get around not being able to use a phone, they're not always the most convenient but unfortunately you lose slot when you can't use a phone. I just wouldn't get mad at someone who called ahead to set a time. It's like a restaurant, reservations are seated first, walk INS must wait. I actually never went to a barber in my life, so I'm not sure if it's different at barbershops, but I usually go to places like SuperCuts where I can go in as a walk-in, get a quick buzzcut, and be out in just 5 minutes. Usually at places like SuperCuts, they just take your name and serve you right away if there's no one else waiting ahead of you. There were times when I tried to go to the haircut places that's just a walking distance from my house, and they take your name as well and you have to sit down while they sweep off the haircut area. Usually I find places like salons to be understaffed and they take forever to give people haircuts and because of that it gives the people who called in for an appointment too much time to beat the clock instead of serving me first. I'm not sure if it's a generational thing, but even if I wanted to, calling in for an appointment would be too much of a hassle for me. I'm just part of the "fast food culture" that's used to being able to walk in anyplace and getting served right away. To me, calling in for an appointment is kind of an outdated custom, kind of like writing checks at supermarkets. Plus, calling in for an appointment is too restrictive on my time. I like to keep my schedule spontaneous enough to allow for me to be able to stop at other stores on the way to the haircut place on a whim, rather than being committed to a scheduled appointment. So that's why I go to a SuperCuts about 6 miles from my house, and other random SuperCuts in other neighborhoods (to see what hot girls work there), because I get served right away as a walk-in instead of going to one of the two haircut places that I can walk to from my house.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) Not every guy looks good in a buzzcut, Im exhibit A. I also don't just get a trim, Im cheap, so I wait a long time to get a haircut and when I do it's a significant amount (I also never do anything with my hair in between in terms of style, just use standard shampoo and conditioner). You really get mad when someone takes the time and effort to make an appointment? That's why they exist, so you have a time reserved. Honestly, you don't have any ground to stand on, walk-ins are for when the barber has open spots, and are worked in around reservations. If the barber passed up a reservation that would lose them alot more business than if they pass over a walk in. And if you're just getting a buzzcut you can go anywhere, hell, you might as well have a friend do it for $5. Actually, I kind of do think I have some ground to stand on. See, I have a hearing impairment, so it's hard for me to hear on phones. So I try to save myself the embarrassment by walking in rather than phoning in an appointment. In fact, my hearing is so bad on phones that I need to get someone to help me whenever I need to call the credit card company or any business that has automated answering directories. A lot of people would be surprised by how seldom I use the phone. I probably only make 2 or 3 phone calls a month, and when I do, I usually only call my boss, close friends, or family. So yea, that's why it's very easy for me to get mad. Because here I am, walking in to get a haircut because using the phone is a challenge for me, and just when it's my turn to get my hair cut next, some soccer mom with two kids and an appointment walks in and gets served first. That does piss me off because that feels like a form of disparate treatment or whatever. And just because I'm a walk-in doesn't mean I have more time to spare than someone who was able to call in an appointment because they don't have the disadvantage of having trouble hearing like I do.

I always get my hair buzzcutted with razor trimmer size #1. I like my hair as short as possible and it annoys me when my hair gets long enough to have cowlicks or easily messed up from static electricity from my hoodies. I kind of don't know why everyone don't get buzzcuts, it seems kind of silly to me when dudes go to get a haircut and they tell the haircut person that they "only want a trim." Just get your entire head buzzed already! It's much quicker and less maintenence. And one of my biggest pet peeves is when people schedule appointments for a haircut. It pisses me off to no end when I'm sitting in the waiting room, and it's my turn next, and all the sudden some soccer mom comes in with two punky kids that looks like skateboarders with Justin Bieber imitation haircuts and they get served before me just because the soccer mom made an appointment and she's too lazy to just come in and wait like everyone else. I've gotten up and made my dissatisfaction known to the manager at haircut places that do stuff like that and I leave, letting them know that they lost my business because they took people's appointments before serving me despite the fact that I was waiting in the building before they came in. Now I almost always go to SuperCuts because I never got gypped by any stupid reservation policies. I also never go to a barber, I just go to cheap places like SuperCuts because I like the chances of getting a haircut by a hot girl. You know, it gives me a chance to flirt a little. :-p
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 1, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) I'm not a fan of the beer list because for the most part, I don't drink - so somebody else would have to write bios and reviews of them. I don't drink, either. Funny thing is, I'm 25 and never drank a drop of alcohol. Here's some of my ideas for lists: * Favorite pro poker players. (The 2010 WSOP Main Event Final Table is being played on November 9th, so it would go with a November theme.) * Favorite card games. * Favorite board games. * Favorite video games.
  17. I'm actually thinking of dressing up as Turk from "Scrubs" because some of my friends think I look like a white Turk. I'd have to get a haircut and shave, tho.
  18. Thanks for the replies, everyone. I also stopped and spoke to two tattoo artists at two different shops and they told me not to worry about anything, either. Also, I might consider going the "flu shot on the ass" route if the girl giving the shot is hot. And this time when I say "hot", I mean the type of girl I consider to be hot.
  19. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Do they have any big events at the horseshoe during summer season or how does that all work? Hey Gould, the only big poker events that I know of that takes place at Horseshoe Hammond is the WSOP-C which usually takes place in the 2nd half of October each year, and the Chicago Poker Classic which usually takes place during the last week of February and the first week of March. I'm not aware of any poker events during the winter or summer time, but I do know that the poker room has daily $200 buy-in tournaments on Sundays and Fridays at 12 noon. I also think they have daily tournaments at 12 noon on two other days of the week, with a $100 buy-in, but I'm not sure. The poker room at the Horseshoe runs some really good poker tournaments, with 30 minute blinds and 6,000 in starting chips. My ONLY complaint about the way the tournaments is run is how the tournament director always seems to kind of wander off and pay too much attention with what's going on at the cash games or socializing with other floor people. So because of that, he doesn't always balance the tables and usually only breaks tables when it gets down to a certain number of people, instead. There was one time when I was playing there and we were down to the final 4 tables, and 1 table had 7 people while the other two had 9, 9, and 10. The tournament director really should've balanced the tables immediately by moving someone from the 10-handed table to the 7-handed table to balance it at 8, 9, 9, 9. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine when tournament directors doesn't balance tables promptly. However, I do love the tournaments at Horseshoe Hammond. I finished in 4th place out of 83 for $1,400 once.
  20. Hey guys, weird question, I know. But I was hoping anyone with tattoos can answer this question... I got my 2nd tattoo last January, so now both of my upper arms are tattoo'd in the spot where they normally give you flu shots. The 2 years before, I just simply had them give me my flu shot on my yet-to-be-tattoo'd arm. My concern now is, when I get my flu shot, and if I had them give me the flu shot on my tattoo, will the puncture of the needle be visible long after I get the flu shot and kind of ruin my tattoo? Or will the area where the needle punctured my skin heal over with the ink intact?
  21. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 11:36 PM) I usually stick with the ones at the KOC Hall in Joliet. I never seem to have free time to get away for any of the others. Was set to go to the Tinley one a few tiems, and things just got in the way. Hey, I was actually thinking of checking out the games at the KOC Hall in Joliet someday because I live right off route 6 in Orland Park and I used to always take route 6 to route 30 to get to places such as the Hobo Outlet and the Joliet Mall, etc. Where is the KOC Hall located at? Is it easily accessible from route 30 or route 6? This would all depend on whether the date that they stop at the KOC Hall on a day when I can make it, such as one of my fridays off work and if I don't have any homework. Funny thing is, I don't like going west of Bell road because I always seem to get lost. But Joliet is usually the exception since I'm familiar with route 6 and route 30 pretty well. But as for towns like Naperville, Romeoville, Lemont, or anything north of those towns... fuhgeddaboutit! lol I'm too much of a south suburb rat.
  22. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) I never saw Saw. I HIGHLY recommend "Saw", it's one of my all-time favorite movies, it was very high in my list. If you watch "Saw" and you liked it, I recommend watching "Saw 2". And if you liked "Saw 2", then I recommend you to watch "Saw 3" and "Saw 4" back-to-back in one sitting... trust me there's a twist that will make it worth it. Try and have a little "Saw" marathon during Halloween. I think the first 4 "Saw" movies were the best, then the series started dropping off with the fifth and sixth movies.
  23. QUOTE (3E8 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) Better luck next time Don. It's hard to stay patient when you go card dead for hours. Are you thinking of becoming a pro? Actually, no I'm not. I plan on trying to get a full-time job when I finish school that would be flexible enough to let me take multiple vacations throughout the year to play poker tournaments. That way, poker won't be my sole source of income and be more of a hobby thing that will always be a fun escape for me. I hope to be able to someday take a couple trips throughout the year to play WSOP-C events at places like St. Louis, Tunica, and Atlantic City, as well as Hammond. Plus some WSOP events in Vegas (really wanna play Razz, that's my 2nd-best poker game,... maybe I'm better at Razz than Hold'em). Plus, some other poker events I hope to play in sometime in my life are the ones held at the Borgata in Atlantic City and the Commerce and Bicycle casinos in California. As well as Vegas trips to the Venetian and Caesars. I also want to try and accumulate $1 million in poker tournament winnings by the time I'm 70 years old, lol.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) When you say "hot girl", do mean "hot girl" as thought of by by most men or "hot girl" as though of by you? lol LMAO. Actually, yea this time it's "hot girl" as thought of by most men. lol. One was kind like a Kim Kardashian type with tight pants and a very "pretty girl" type of attitude. She was even checking her make-up at the table, LMAO.
  25. Busto. I got eliminated in 371st place. :-/ I'm still disappointed, but that's poker. I look forward to trying again next year. Here's a recap of some key moments: * Started on table 30, seat 1, with 10k in chips. * I noticed there were two people on my table that I played against in tournaments before. One's a hot girl in seat 6 and another's a guy that always seems to crack me up in seat 9. * Ran my chips up to 11k in the first 30 minutes. * Saw another poker player walking around that I played against in a sit-n-go that I chopped first place with a year ago. * Had pocket queens busted on the turn in a big pot. My stack fell to 8k. * A super-hot girl was moved to my table after someone else was knocked out. She sat in seat 5 next to the other hot girl. Niiiice. * Had pocket kings, made a standard raise pre-flop, but everyone folded, drats. * I saw Frank Kasella! He was on tv and is leading the player of the year rankings for the 2009/2010 wsop season. http://www.bluffmagazine.com/players/frank...yer-profile.asp * limped in later with pocket 6's. Flopped a set on a board of Ah, 6d, 2s. Checked flop, everyone else checked, bet half the pot on turn, everyone else folded. drats. * went card dead for 2 or 3 hours, and my chip stack ended up dwindling to 6.8k. * My table was broken up, and I was moved to table 18, seat 1. The super hot girl was also moved to my table in seat 2. * I noticed there was another guy at this table that I played against in a tournament before, a Chris Moneymaker look-a-like that was sitting in seat 7. * I ended up going all-in with top-pair against the small blind who flopped two-pair. Still kicking myself. * Eliminated in 371st place. *sigh* * I went to a tournament director and got two food vouchers worth $8 each. A little consolation prize. * Before leaving, I bumped into Nadya Magnus, who I saw on "the Big Game" on Fox. http://www.bluffmagazine.com/players/nadya...yer-profile.asp She was just eliminated from day 3 of a bigger tournament, and she was very depressed. All in all, I regret getting knocked out the way I did, because even though my chip stack was at 6.8k, I really could've just waited for a better hand to shove with. I got a little too agressive and tried to represent a straight on the river with my river shove and I also thought the other guy was bluffing, but the other guy ended up calling. And I was out. Siiiiiiiiiiigh. I wish I had a better story to tell you guys, but I'll just post one of the 6 pictures that the professional photographer took of me to make up for it...
