  1. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) maybe he got all the red meat cleaned out of his colon, that's why he's 25 lbs lighter but you can't see it. Hey guys, I'll be honest, when I first saw Bobby Jenks pitch this year, the first thing I noticed was, "Wow! Bobby lost a lot of weight." I definitely think he looks slimmer than last year. I guess it takes a person that lost 60 pounds to be able to tell whether someone else lost weight cause I know where to look. :-p
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) 1:30 am Sweet! Thanks a bunch, dude. I'm gonna record it
  3. does anyone know if this game will be replayed on CSN sometime around midnight?
  4. Hey, quick question... does anyone know if CSN will be replaying tonight's game? I left the room and missed Santos, my favorite bullpen pitcher, pitch.
  5. sheesh, Peavy is getting hammered. He looks more like a #5 starter than a #2 starter. :-/
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Hmm, businesses can't afford to pay someone so they could just do without which is cutting off everyone from gaining any experience. Instead, they will offer for free mentorship, supervision, and references to someone willing to put in some effort. Students are willing to pay huge sums of money for theoritical knowledge, but want to be paid for gaining practical experience? No one, not even interns, should ever work for free. Period. I've turned down internships because they were unpaid and I didn't believe in doing work without getting paid for it in return. School is for learning and jobs is for generating income, students shouldn't have to burden themselves by having to work for free just to fullfill some academic requirement. Some people like me would have to keep our old jobs just so we can do unpaid internships on the side, and even then doing an unpaid internship wouldn't be worth it.
  7. Rumors about Santos being a future closer? ...I TOTALLY called that in the Bold Predictions thread.
  8. No offense, but I just don't think Thome really had much of a lasting effect on this team. In fact, I think he hindered the team more than he helped it. He only spent 4 seasons here, and all he really did was hit a home run in game 163 in 2008. It's not like he was a home-grown talent like Buehrle, Crede, Rowand, or even Frank Thomas. And it's not like he was a 2005 post-season MVP like Jermaine Dye. In fact, I think Jermaine Dye deserves a more thunderous applause from the fans than Thome if Dye ever returns with another team. Also, to the casual fans, I don't really think Thome had much of a lasting effect. I remember seeing nothing but Thome t-shirts at stores because people didn't really want a Thome shirt. I think Thome's influence with the Sox is a little more exagerated by die-hard fans than it really was with the casual fans as a whole.
  9. Hmmmmm, after thinking a little more, it seems to me that it'd be easier to construct the lineup if our lead-off hitter was right-handed. What if we used Alexei as our lead-off hitter, followed by Pierre and Beckham? 1. Alexei r 2. Pierre l 3. Beckham r 4. Quentin r 5. Konerko r 6. Pierzynski l 7. Rios r 8. Kotsay/Jones l/r 9. Teahen l That way, if Alexei gets on base, Pierre can bunt and hopefully beat out the throw for a bunt single, then Beckham can have free reign to try and hit a double that can potentially score both Alexei and Pierre, and if that doesn't work, we'll have Quentin and Konerko next. I think I'm more in favor of having Kotsay bat lower in the lineup, even if it means altering the top of the lineup by putting someone else (Alexei) ahead of the prototypical leadoff hitter in Pierre.
  10. Last night, a lot of people complained about how Ozzie had Beckham bunt twice in yesterday's game. While I am an advocate for using the bunt, I also agree that it's kind of wasting Beckham's bat, so I was thinking of other ways Ozzie can alter the lineup to take advantage of Beckham's bat. First, I really don't think Beckham should be batting #2 if Ozzie is gonna be calling for a bunt a lot. I think the #2 hitter should be someone else so that Beckham can be moved to a different spot in the lineup to take full advantage of his bat. What if we put Teahen in the #2 role, and move Beckham to #5? I know it messes up Ozzie's l,r,l,r thing, but it'd prolly look like this: 1. Pierre l 2. Teahen l 3. Quentin r 4. Konerko r 5. Beckham r 6. Kotsay/Jones l/r 7. Rios r 8. Pierzynski l 9. Ramirez r Basically, instead of leading off with a lefty then a righty, the Sox should lead off with 2 lefties so that we can move Beckham to #5 and move Kotsay/Jones one spot down to #6. The Sox already has two lefties in a row with Pierzynski and Teahen in the 7 and 8 spots right now, so I don't see any reason why we can't have two lefties bat in a row in the #1 and 2 spots instead. I guess my point is, if Ozzie wants to have the #2 guy bunt the #1 guy over, it doesn't really have to be someone that's a good batter, just someone that knows how to lay down a bunt to move the batter over, someone like Teahen would fit the bill if he knows how to bunt. I also think it should be Teahen since Pierzynski would be too slow and I don't remember ever seeing him bunt, and it would also waste Rios' and Alexei's bats in the lineup if they were batting #2 and always bunting. So it should be Teahen since we're not expecting much from him anyway, and he would prolly see better pitches in the #2 hole if he has Quentin batting behind him.
  11. I love Cranberry Almond Crunch. I can't ever get enough of it, it's soooooo good.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) Carlos!! I still don't forgive the bunt, but that's great to see. If Beckham didn't bunt, it could've led to a double-play and Quentin homer would've only been a 1-run homer, making the game 2-2. Thankfully the Sox are winning 3-2 instead.
  13. I like Santos, I think he has good stuff. At least his wild pitches mixes up well with the pitches that ends up in the strike zone for strikes. I like that cause it leaves the opposing batters not knowing what's next. Some may say, "but guys like MacDougal did the same thing!", but I think it's different, because I think it looks like Santos can throw a pitch for a strike when he wants to. I also liked Santos' composure on the mound, I think he has the skill and mentality it takes to be a decent pitcher for the Sox. Oddly, I'm more confident in Santos than I am in Williams, Linebrink, and Pena. :
  14. Another scoreless inning by Peavy. I love the way he pitches, it's awesome watching him. I still gotta pinch myself that we got Jake freaking Peavy!!!
  15. I love having a leadoff man like Pierre. His baserunning skills is far superior to Podsednik's. It's gonna be fun watching the Pierre/Beckham 1/2 tandem, I think it'll be even more fun than watching Podsednik/Iguchi in 2005.
  16. How adorable. If I ever have kids, I hope I have a daughter like that.
  17. I love how Peavy seems to be the South Side's version of Carlos Zambrano. I'd love to be a fly on the wall to watch those two yelling at each other.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 06:57 AM) But isn't Andruw Jones really only an imposter? This made me LOL and wake my family. :
