I wouldn't be excited about the idea of signing one guy with a bad back in Branyan to replace another guy with a bad back in Thome. It kinda defeats the purpose of getting rid of Thome, IMHO.

I voted "No". I actually would've never guessed it was considered to be a woman's car. I guess it depends on what blue color it is. If it's a bright powder blue, then I guess yea, it prolly looks like a woman's car. I also think a guy I work with has a Jeep Liberty.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) get a ford. you won't be disappointed. Here's the thing, the one car I hate the most in the world is the Ford Taurus, because I always feel like I'm in a bubble whenever I'm in one. But I wouldn't mind a Ford Malibu, Malibu Maxx, or Cobalt. What's your opinion of those? I was also a BIG fan of the Dodge Magnum, and I'm PISSED they discontinued that model.

Wow, I'm so glad I decided to wait with buying a new car and to keep driving my 1993 Toyota Camry with 235,300 miles on it. I was planning on getting another Toyota as my next car, but now with this happening, I might avoid all 2005-2010 models altogether and either get an older used model Toyota or a Honda or Nissan. I'm not really a fan of American-made cards, but too bad Saturn went out of business, I would've considered getting a Saturn.

Question about MLB.com Blackout rules
SouthsideDon48 replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If you somehow register with a bogus address in another country, can you avoid the blackout rules? For example, someone on this site is in Brazil right now, if he registered with a Brazilian address, I bet he avoids all blackouts. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 11:14 PM) I don't know if this is technically a Chicago thing, but Ricobene's breaded steak sandwich is one of the worst things I have ever tasted. I agree. I actually went out and got one after reading about it in a thread here on Soxtalk, but I was so disappointed with how it turned out. I was also hoping they'd use a brown cream soup-based country gravy instead of the red country gravy they used. For now on I'll be sticking with what I always get at Ricobene's, their delicious Chicken Vesuvio sandwich.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 10:43 PM) 25 years ago. I also did a little college time with an improv group. Do it. Scare the s*** out of yourself. Bomb. Kill. Kill again. Have a few buddies heckle you. In fact, if the old guy can give a little advice. Always try it. Never be afraid to at least try. Your only regrets later will be the things you did not do. : Actually, I'm thinking of going alone when I try an open mic night, cause if I embarrass myself so bad, then at least I won't be embarrassed to face my family or friends, or have their pity. :-p

QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 24, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) How long is your set Hey 3E8, I'm still in the middle of the writing and "rehearsing in front of my bathroom mirror" stages. I still got a lot of funny stuff to write down, but I'm not sure how long my set should be for a typical open mic performance. My jokes are interchangeable and I tend to change topics a lot, so if I need to add or take away jokes for time considerations, that shouldn't be a problem. Also, my jokes are not typical "punchline" stuff, but rather more angst-filled super-short stories ala Christopher Titus. I also don't have a "persona", it's just my real personality in a rant, lol.

Have anyone tried going onstage during Open Mic Night at a comedy club somewhere? If so, how was it? I've been writing some jokes based on my dysfunctional-ish life experiences for the past week now and I'm seriously thinking of trying an Open Mic Night at a comedy club somewhere. I'm planning on just going to a comedy club somewhere in the south suburbs, and I know there's the Riddles club on 111th street in Alsip and the Barrel of Laughs club in Oak Lawn on Central ave, but does anyone else know of any other comedy clubs in the south suburbs?

Who do you have the highest expectations for?
SouthsideDon48 replied to SockMe's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Definitely Beckham and Peavy. -
I say "Chi-caw-go" Also, I hate the Chicago Tribune. But I love the Sun-Times. I like deep-dish pizza if it's like Gino's East. The only thing I like on my hotdogs is chili and cheese. I hate "chicago-style" hotdogs, and I hate ketchup, but I sometimes add ketchup anyway. I put mayo and bbq sauce on my hamburgers. I never put ketchup or mustard on my hamburgers.

I rarely find white women hot, but I find Jillian to be very hot. I find brunette women with similar "rough diamond beauty" looks like her to be very attractive. I also think she'd make a great dominatrix fitness trainer, you know, one of those fitness trainers that guys pay to have the whole "fitness program in a dungeon with a dominatrix" experience? I'd totally sign up for that. I can just see it, imagine doing sit-ups in her fitness dungeon with her wearing leather thigh-high boots, fishnets, a corset, and carrying a crop. Your stomach is hurting as hell as you keep doing sit-ups while she snarls at you and says "More! More sit-ups! Feel the pain, you little b****!" ....*FAP, FAP-FAP, FAP, FAP-FAP, FAP*

If we try to resign Konerko to a cheaper contract, how do we avoid the rules where players cannot have, like, more than a 20% pay cut, or something like that? Or is that only for arbitration players?

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 11:38 PM) Is there a Fuddruckers still around anywhere? I remember in Downers Grove that there used to be one. There were 2 restaurants right across from one another. Fuddruckers, and Mother Tuckers. Try saying those together real fast in mixed company without slipping up. Whoa, I totally forgot about Fuddruckers! There's one in Matteson on the southwest corner of Cicero and Route 30.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 02:41 AM) 5 Guys is right around 157th and La Grange. It is in that little center with Starbucks and Potbelly right by Target. They have really good burgers as well, and their cajun fries kick butt. In N Out is only on the West Coast as far as I know, but I hear that they are the burger place to beat. I havent tried Schoops yet, but I will have to give that a try. Sweet, thanks for the information. I'm gonna try and go there sometime this week.

Oh, and Gooch, if you want an awesome cheap burger, go to Tinley Park Bowling Lanes and get their 1/2 pound cheeseburger and have Katrina prepare it however you like it for about 5 bucks. It's not a fancy burger or anything, but Katrina does a kick-ass job of cooking and preparing the burgers that I get one everytime I play poker there every other sunday. :-D

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) I live in Orland Park and with the recent opening of all the new burger places in the area, I was wondering what everyone's favorite burger joint is? Don't include real nice restaurants or bars where you have had a really good burger, just burger joints. Within the past few years we have had a Red Robin, a Fatburger, and a 5 Guys open up here. Of the the three my favorite is Fatburger slightly edging out 5 Guys. Five Guys has much better fries, but I love the fried egg on the Fatburger (along with the texture and fresh topping, and they have great shakes. I will not that I have not had the opportunity to try In'N'Out Burgers as I hear from many people that they are great. So what do ya'll think? Hey Gooch, I currently live in Orland Park, too. Where's the 5 Guys Burger place located at? I haven't seen it yet. I also agree about Fatburger, I love the fried egg on the burger so much that I get TWO fried eggs on my burger. :-D And as for Red Robin, I tried one burger from there so far, and it was very good. I got it to go cause I wanted to watch tv at home, so I didn't have to deal with the screaming kids. :-D Is there an In-And-Out Burger joint somewhere in the south suburbs? Where at? Oh, and I know one more burger place that I love that have awesome burgers: Schoops in the food court at the Orland Square Mall. I LOOOOOOVE their double bacon cheeseburger, it's so good that you don't even need any ketchup or anything else with it. My mouth is watering thinking of the greasy goodiness. :-D

So I just got my bank statement and found out that I only got $1.69 in interest for an interest rate of 0.05% for 88 days. If my calculations is correct, that would've been equal to about $7.00 for a whole year. That blows. Does anyone know of any banks in the south suburbs where I can find a high interest rate for a standard savings account? I'm hoping to find a bank with a high enough of an interest rate where I can maybe generate money that can actually add up over the long term, such as maybe $50 a year in interest if an interest rate that high exists. The bank that I have my 0.05% at is Harris, which blows.

Does anyone know if this blister thing Danks has can be something that might be totally healed and gone after the offseason is over? Or might this be a re-occuring problem?
