  1. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of Jim Thome. I think he's exactly what the White Sox doesn need: a player who's only strenght is the long ball. I think the Sox is so much better now with the flexibility they have in being able to rotate the DH position amongst everyday positional players. I seriously hope the Sox is heading in a different direction from the days of having DH-only players like Thome and Thomas. I hope the Sox starts utilizing the DH position similar to how the Angels does, like someone else in this thread mentioned. Also, someone mentioned that Thome was a cancer. Well, I do think he was a nice guy and all, but I think he was indeed a cancer in the sense that he can only play DH, which severely limits a team's flexibility. The dude can't even play 1B in interleague games, that's just a waste of a 25-man roster spot. On thise year's team, now that Thome's gone, having guys like Pods, Kotsay, Dye, Konerko, and Quentin getting breathers in DH is so much better. And to the guy that said that people who doesn't like Thome "doesn't like baseball", well dude, different people have different philosophies when it comes to constructing a baseball lineup. Just because some people doesn't like having DH-only players like Thome on the roster doesn't mean they "don't know baseball.
  2. I will make a "One Guy, One Cup" video and post it on the internet.
  3. seems like we've been winning consistently since we traded Thome...
  4. 1. Nick Massett 2. Jaiver Lopez 3. Frank Francisco 4. David Aardsma 5. Scott Eyre 6. Jon Rauch 7. Scott Schoeneweis 8. Damaso Marte
  5. I decided to look around the White Sox websites for various European languages, and I noticed they altered the pic for the Polish market. This is getting ridiculous.
  6. Wow, I'm surprised the Rays gave up Kazmir. I could've sworn I would've thought Kazmir was gonna be a mainstay on that team.
  7. Do you guys get refunded if the Sox don't make it to the post-season?
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) once, just now, unless you have a different definition of "googling" How many times have you googled your spouse or girlfriend? Once, because she wanted me to see the stuff she did. How many times have you had your car break down on the interstate?
  9. QUOTE (Wise Master Buehrle @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 06:09 PM) Sorry to hear that. Boston is going to waste us. We gave them all the momentum by giving them a free win yesterday. Maybe they're just playing possum. You know, to let the Red Sox think the White Sox are easy so they'd let their guard down, then we'd SLAM THE RED SOX IN THE LAST 3 GAMES!!! \m/
  10. So far so good, Garcia only gave up one run and is already doing better than Contreras did yesterday. I'm starting to build a little faith in the Sox for this game, I hope they don't disappoint me. I think the Sox batters need to work the count against Lester so Boston would be forced to go to the pen sooner.
  11. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Time for Rios' comin out party Rios is coming out of the closet? I don't wanna see that. :-/
  12. I'm half Irish, then the rest is French, French Canadian, English, and Native American. Dad's side of the family: 100% Irish. I'm 3rd generation on that side of the family, and my Irish family were Irish Catholics from County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Mom's side: Mom's dad's family were of English descent and in America since the Revolutionary War, and I had an ancestort hat fought in that war. My mom's mom's mom's family were from Paris, France then moved to Mobile, Alabama and fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. And my mom's mom's dad's family were French settlers in Quebec and my great-grandfather was half Native American from some tribe we don't know about.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:24 AM) This topic needs a poll. SS Don, would you mind if I added one? Sure! Go ahead, bro.
  14. I thought this would be a fun thread to speculate on who we think might be called up when rosters expand in September. Here's my predictions: 1. Peavy (will just be called up) 2. Getz (activated off DL) 3. Wise (activated off DL) 4. Nunez 5. Armstrong Who's your predictions?
  15. I thought the original poster wanted ideas for individual names for the backs of players' shirts.

  17. I gotta say, I like how quickly Rios can get to shallow center just like how he did last inning when Alexei caught that pop-up.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Iwamura single followed by a double (Peavy start) I thought Peavy was supposed to be on CSN?
  19. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) I've been trying to look for his numbers since moving to us? Of course I realize it has not even been an entire week yet... looking forward to seeing Rios play a full week in a humid U.S. Cellular I think Rios might actually do well in the humid Cell if he's accustomed to the humidity of Puerto Rico.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) They're letting him run the bases before they send him down. He's waiting for his parents to show up.
