    Road Trip

When you go to Vegas, make sure you eat at the buffet at the Bellagio. They have the best buffet in the world. Try their BBQ Swordfish, it's delicious. Hotel rates are dirt-cheap in Vegas, too. Have you ever gone to Niagara Falls?
  2. I think I'd rather keep Poreda in the minors to work on his pitches and development. I wouldn't mind calling Egbert up, I think he's due. I think I'd prefer getting rid of MacDougal, but keep Carrasco a little longer. Also, I think we should look for a free agent reliever. I actually prefer having someone like Gaudin instead of MacDougal.
  3. I booed Crede last year while he was still with the White Sox and I'll continue to boo him now that he is part of the twins. What Joe Crede did in 2005 was great, but everything he did after that pissed me off: He waited too long to get surgery, he became a dick when he cared more about money than staying with the Sox for a cheaper contract when he shouldn't expect much money because of his back, and his agent is Boras. Also, it didn't help that I became a big fan of Fields and Crede's return sent Fields back to Charlotte. And when Crede returned, he committed a ton of errors and got hurt again all the while a bunch of annoying Crede fanbois kept acting like Crede was some sort of Messiah-like figure. Give me a break. I'll always hate Crede more than I hate Anderson. Fields is twice the ballplayer and person that Crede will ever be.
  4. Don't they only use the cannons for shooting shirts to the upper deck? Cause I remember the last couple times I went to Sox games that they threw all the shirts at the lower deck and used the cannons for the far-out upper deck.
  5. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) This will be the 4th year where Brian Anderson will not get consistent AB's.......anyone think of that. He has not gotten a regular set of AB's since 2005. I believe the White Sox totally f***ed up any chance of him making it as a an MLB player. Pathetic that Wise is still in there, s*** play lillibridge. You're saying all that after seeing Brian Anderson strike out in his at-bat today? Brian Anderson sucks, dude. I'd still rather have Wise playing CF because he still has pop. BA and Lillibridge shouldn't even be on this team.
  6. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 09:16 AM) I'm too lazy to look it up, but who did KC give up for Crisp? And what would have been the equivalent from the Sox org? I'm too lazy to see if anyone responded already, but the Royals acquired Crisp by trading away a reliever named Ramon Ramirez. As for who Ramon Ramirez would be equivalent to in our organization... probably Carrasco or Richard. (Actually, more like a pitcher in skill level in-between the groups of Jenks/Dotel/Thornton/Linebrink and Carrasco/MacDougal/Richard, which is a middle-area where we don't seem to have. I'd actually rank Ramon Ramirez right in-between both groups).
  7. try www.fatwallet.com My friends use that site for everything from plane tickets to whatever you can think of. Last time I saw, they had promo codes for MLB shop, and I wouldn't be surprised if there might be some for tickets, too.
  8. I have no problem at all if the Sox ever tried to acquire Dukes. I read about Dukes' saga a long time ago, and I admit that a lot of it is alarming, but if he helps the team win then it's worth it. Also, big deal about him having 10 children from several different women. Since when did everyone on this site become Holy-Roller Morals Thumpers???
  9. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) The stats show kids who grow up without fathers tend to be scum of society a lot more often than those who did have a father in the household. Plus it was at a very young age. I think Jenks started hating his parents in late high school. Carl's parents didn't exist because they weren't in the Bible. Oh please, that's ridiculous, offensive, and very stereotyping. Stats are not reliable. I grew up without a father, and most of my friends also came from homes without fathers. In fact, out of all my friends, the one with the most extensive police record actually grew up with a POS alcoholic father in his household.
  10. Paul Konerko reminds me of one of those guys from that movie, "Super Troopers", in that Carlos Queentin swinging commercial.
  11. YES!!! Getz on 2nd!!! That's the kind of speed I wish the sox had more of!
  12. With the bases loaded, I think I would've preferred Alexei batting instead of AJ, but I hope I'm proven wrong. *crosses fingers*
  13. PLAY BALL!!!!!! I got my Dr. Pepper and chilled Cooler Ranch Doritos from the fridge.
  14. I just got home to watch the game. I'm so excited, I'm oozing precum with excitement.
  15. Are we all supposed to bring our own bats? If so, are metal bats ok? Are we gonna play with gloves, or barehanded? If we're playing barehanded, then I don't want to play 1st base. Last time I played softball barehanded at 1st base, I sprained my left pinkie and couldn't write for a couple weeks. Also, put me down on the list, but keep in mind that I might not be 100% certain that I'll be able to make it, but I'll really try my best. And to follow up on the positions request from the poster above me, here's the positions I can play: SouthsideDon48: 2B, SS, 3B, LF, RP (I throw right-handed). Also, if it matters, I'm a switch-hitter. (However, I have more power right-handed, but better average left-handed, so pick your poison.)
  16. Man, I really hope Contreras does good this season!
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Maybe the White Sox should inquire about Gregor Blanco's availability now that he's lost his job to Jordan Schaefer and has been demoted. I actually wouldn't mind that. Hopefully they're looking for some more relievers or something... Is he better offensively than BA?
  18. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 3, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) My team in a league of friends, admittedly they a bit newbs: 12 team head to head 6x6 C Pablo Sandoval 1b Justin Morneau 2b Brian Roberts 3b David Wright SS Alexei Ramirez OF Matt Kemp OF Nick Markakis OF Shane Victorino UTIL Joey Votto UTIL Nate McLouth Bench: Nelson Cruz DL Ichiro SP Yovani Gallardo SP Zach Greinke RP Joba Chamberlin RP Jason Motte P John Danks P Kevin Slowey P Paul Maholm Bench: Clayton Kershaw, Matt Cain, Brandon Morrow, Chris Volstad you got a nice balanced team there.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 2, 2009 -> 08:20 AM) That entire storyline with Kate and Aaron could have been told in 7-10 minutes not an entire episode. Seemed like it was just filler. At least Kate is hot. I think she's the hottest girl in the show. Too bad she's back on the island again, because that probably means we won't be seeing as many flashbacks of her off the island looking all good with some make-up and those skirts. Although she's still hot, now we're gonna be stuck with a slightly less prettied-up version of Kate.
  20. The more I think about it, the more I think John Locke is in the exact same situation as Christian Sheppard. Think about it... both arrived in the island by airplane while dead in a coffin. I'm thinking John Locke probably thinks he's alive again, when he's really not and he's a ghost figure that people can see and talk to just like Christian Sheppard.
  21. I told a Cubs fan friend at work last night that Ryan Dempster will start the season on the DL because he had an accident and broke his right elbow. He fell for it, such a diehard Cubbie fan.
  22. QUOTE (POPPY_HIDALGO @ Apr 1, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) I actually had Lamarr Hoyt sign my crack pipe at the Sox convention back in 04. I also got my picture taking with MR. Zero. Great times! For real??? that's hilarious!
  23. How about a Lamarr Hoyt Appreciation Night? First 5,000 fans get a little baggy filled with a mystery white substance.
  24. I think Pods is losing his touch, so much that I think both BA and Wise would outperform him. 2005 Pods is better than BA and Wise, but 2009 Pods would have difficulty even coming close. I'd much rather stick with Wise and BA as a platoon, plus Wise has more pop to his bat and Pods only hit, I think, 1 home run in his entire stay with the Sox. Wise is the guy that I think people will end up being pleased about, give him a chance. But something tells me that no matter how good Wise performs, there will still be stubborn people rooting against him. Sometimes you got to throw all the stats out the window and give him a clean slate. Wise has done more in his short stay with the Sox than BA did, and I'm prety much talking about the big hits/runs and not overall numbers.
