  1. ***FDBL rules were deleted since they're no longer applicable for this season.***
  2. So not one single person is interested in joining any of my leagues? My SZBL and GSBL are competitive and DEEP. No one interested? Beuller? Beuller? Spaces are filling up quick, the SZBL already has 11 teams and the GSBL already has 15.
  3. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Never been a big fan of chicken on bones, I prefer the boneless kind... Same here, especially when it comes to wings, although I'm fine with bones when it comes to a nice big juicy chicken breast. I'm a big fan of plain boneless wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. I always get a cup of ranch and a cup of Honey BBQ sauce on the side. The reason why I get them plain is because they turn out too soggy for my taste if I order them cooked with a sauce. I perfer having my boneless wings crispy and plain and just dipping them in the ranch or sauce. Also, when it comes to wings with bones in it, I love Hooters' mild wings. They're much more meatier than typical wings you'd get anywhere else, and I also ask for only flappers when I go to Hooters because I'm not a big fan of wings that look like drumsticks. Where else can I go to find big flapper wings similar to Hooters'?
  4. I think, in this current market, that Crede's worth a one-year contract of only 2.5/3 million with incentives that would give Crede no more than a total of 5 million. No way is he worth 7-8 million plus incentives with his back, he and Boras got to stop smoking whatever it is that they're smoking.
  5. Honestly, I like Thome as much as the next guy, but I can't wait until we get rid of him. Sure he got us that homer in game 163, but 90% of the time all he's good for is a predictable ground-out to first base. I think he's been one of the biggest reason our team has been so station-to-station the past couple seasons, he clogs up the basepaths too much whenever he actually does get on base. When the Thome era ends, I hope the Sox doesn't get another stereotypical slow plodding DH-type. I'd much rather have the DH spot utilized to give positional players more days off the field while some 5-tool-type utility player plays their positions. I'm against the practice of having a slow player who can no longer play on the field as a DH, such as players like Thome, David Ortiz, Hafner, Sheffield, Giambi (sort of), etc etc etc.
  6. 1. Game 4 of the 2005 World Series 2. Game 163 3. The back-to-back-to-back-to-back home runs against Kansas City in 2008 with Thome, Konerko, Alexei, Uribe. 4. TIE betwee AJ's called 3rd strike in the 2005 ALCS and AJ's controversial interference call on the basepaths against TB. 5. The Sox/Cubs brawl after Barrett punches AJ.
  7. I'd be more than happy to play. I'm not sure what positions might be available, but I'm probably a natural at 2nd base. I would also be willing to pitch as a relief pitcher out of the bullpen. I'd be the closest you'd all have to having Ricky Vaughn on your team.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) the latter half of that just became impossible unless Griffey is released by Atlanta Oh really? darn, I didn't see that mentioned anywhere on this site.
  9. Jim Thome will be traded near the trade deadline to a contending team for a promising centerfield prospect, then Kenny Williams will resign free agent Ken Griffey Jr. to finish the year as DH.
  10. Getz will strangely end up performing extremely similar to Ryan Theriot. Drunk Cubs fans will then have trouble telling them apart.
  11. Am I actualy hearing things right??? You guys play an annual softball game every year??? If so, then I'm interested in playing if I have that day off work. Where do you guys play at? Any other information I should know?
  12. I'll be honest with everyone, Mark Buehrle will probably go down as one of my all-time favorite White Sox players. He's just awesome with how he used to slide on those tarps, how he came in and closed a World Series game in late innings after starting the previous game, and for being like a normal everyman. I know for a fact that I'm gonna try and get a Buehrle jersey someday, but it'll probably be just a replica so I can get replica jerseys of other players, lol. Also... I have a question... Is it possible that if we resign Buehrle to a contract in 2011 that we might give him an easier schedule? I don't see anything wrong with letting him go home on days he's not pitching like the Astros did for Clemens.
  13. Viciedo will make the team and win Rookie of the Year.
  14. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Feb 14, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) I'll take Willie as a supersub, but his season, at least in my eyes, was rather flukish. I'd rather go with Anderson and see if he can put it together as Willie offers nothing in terms of future value. But we already gave Anderson a chance. ...In 2006. I think Brian's only worth to the team is as a platoon-type and late inning defensive replacement.

Any teams not having a city-inspired name will be asked to re-name their team or the commish will take action. Teams may also not change their team names in the middle of the season from a city-inspired name to something like "My Team Sucks", etc etc etc. ***Managers also cannot hide or make their email address private from the rest of the league, we must have open communication channels. If anyone is interested in joining any of my leagues, please let me know. You can either reply to this thread with your first and last name, your email address, and which league(s) you're interested in joining. I look foward to seeing if any of you join my leagues, they're competitive as hell and I'm always looking to bring in better managers.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) Looks like all the new players got numbers Betemit - 15 Colon - 40 Allen - 60 Jimenez - 57 Lillibridge - 18 Link - 61 Marquez - 48 Nix - 5 Nunez - 65 Santeliz - 63 Ah, I see Marquez STOLE my number, 48! I can either jeer on him or cheer for him. ...I think I'll cheer him on.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) Do people not remember that Hudson is generally considered a pretty damn good defensive 2B? If the Sox sign Hudson, Brian Anderson sure as hell better be starting in CF, because his defense alone could win the Sox 2-4 games, and I don't think his bat is so poor that he would cost the Sox a ton of games with it either. The far most likely scenario sees Viciedo in AA or AAA, Fields at 3B, Getz at 2B, and Owens in CF to start the year. If the Sox can deal Dye and sign Abreu or if they can sign Hudson, Owens should be in AAA or on some other team, Getz should be in AAA or on the bench, and Brian Anderson should be in CF. Oh I'm aware that Hudson's a very good defensive 2nd baseman. I only came up with that lineup scenario with the thought of "What if both Viciedo and Fields are on the team?" I would assume that Josh would have an easier time adjusting to 2nd base than the outfield, so if he was on 2nd and Viciedo was at 3rd, then that would mean CF is the only place Hudson could've theoretically been slotted in. However... you can also argue that in the small chance that Viciedo plays 3rd AND Fields play 2nd that Brian Anderson should automatically play CF. But, if we had Viciedo/Fields/Anderson in the everyday lineup, then who would be the lead-off hitter? That was the only reason why I hoped for a Hudson signing in the first lineup scenario, because I think Hudson can help the team out in the #1 and #2 spots in the lineup more than Anderson ever could. If we end up having some sort of Fields/Viciedo platoon at 3rd, then I guess Getz would be at 2nd and Owens would be at CF as our lead-off hitter. ...I also hope we get someone else to hit in the #2 spot besides AJ, but it seems like with the logjam of guys like Thome/Konerko/Dye that we are handcuffed in terms of getting the types of hitters we really need.
  18. I'm getting $1,900 back from federal and $200 back from state. Whoo-hoo! It's all going to be pretty much going towards savings for a newer car, though. I will probably only spend $100 of it on something.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) If only he'd be around to guarantee his prediction. What are your plans for the next 15-20 years while we wait? LOL, ok, fair enough, I created a signature and I will personally try and keep track of Viciedo's home runs in terms of beating Frank's record. It'll be something that will make me root for Viciedo even more, lol. :-D If my prediction turns out to be wrong, then I'll admit that I was a douche. But then again... I keep thinking that Viciedo will hit "only" 449 home runs to beat Frank. Lets do it, Dayan!!!
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) Only if we can work out an extension for him. Hopefully if we sign Alexei to an extension that it'll make it easier to convince Dayan to sign an extension as well. I think keeping both Alexei and Dayan in order to keep both of them will be key.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) So, let's see, Viciedo is 19 right? That means if he averages 50 home runs a year for the next 20 years, he should be able to put that record well out of reach of the steroid abusers. When can we get started? Hahahhaah, I agree! I honestly think Viciedo will at least surpass Frank Thomas in the all-time home runs list.
  22. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) i know but thats why i said "if anything". meaning josh fields will not be playing 2b. jd would get traded befor that would happen. That's a shame, cause I think Fields would have an easier time adapting to 2nd base than when they experimented with him in left field. If anything, if he played 2nd base it would mean that Owens would have to be our lead-off hitter in centerfield (unless we signed Orlando Hudson). This is sort of my dream line-up for this upcoming season as of right now: 1. Owens or Orlando Hudson CF 2. AJ 3. Quentin LF 4. Dye RF 5. Thome DH 6. Konerko 1B 7. Alexei Ramirez SS 8. Dayan Viciedo 3B 9. Fields 2B Bench: Wilson Betemit 1B/2B/SS/3B Brian Anderson OF Armstrong or Miller C Getz or Wise *Rest would be pitchers* My only concern is that it doesn't seem like we have enough left-handed batters. :-\ And even though it helps that Thome is left-handed, I think it's a burden on the team to carry a player that can only play DH. Once we get rid of Thome, then it'd be nice to have a super-utilty player like Lillibridge take his place in 2010.
  23. The only thing I worry about with Viciedo is that he might end up being a better-hitting version of Edwin Encarnacion. Meaning, I think Viciedo will hit good but give us some errors on defense. I do think Viciedo will give us better defense at 3rd than Cabrera did for the Tigers last year, sheesh.
  24. I wish we can have Viciedo play 3rd base and have Fields play 2nd base. It can't be too difficult for a 3rd baseman to move to second base, the base is still to the right of them, and the throw to 1st base is shorter. All they'd need to learn is how to turn the double-play. I'd also much rather see Josh play 2nd base if Viciedo win the 3rd base job instead of any of Gets/Lillibridge/Nix.
  25. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) Did you ever wonder how dudes like Steve Martin, Chevy Chase or Dan Akroyd can go from funny to completely irrelevant overnight? I feel the EXACT same way about Robin Williams and Eddie Murphy. They ruined their careers wit stupid movies they made. For Robin Williams, that movie "Jumanji" was pushing it, but every other comedy movie he made after that was disaster. I think he's better at playing disturbed characters now like he did in "One Hour Photo" and when he guest starred on an episode of "Law and Order: SVU" As for Eddie Murphy, his career went down the drain after making stuuuupid movies like "Dr. Dolittle", "the Nutty Professor", "Pluto Nash", and "Daddy Day Care". The problem with Eddie is that he's trying to entertain kids now instead of sticking with golden roles like he did with "Beverly Hills Cop" and "48 Hours". He's doing too much "forced comedy" with "cute" stuff rather than real funny sitiational comedy like he did early in his career. It seems like Chris Tucker is the new Eddie Murphy nowadays, because the type of comedy that Chris Tucker did in the "Rush Hour" series is the exact type of comedy that Eddie Murphy is an expert at and should stick with. Anyone else agree?
