  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) We may have an opening or two in the Soxtalk keeper league if a few GMs can't play this year. Hey knight, is the Soxtalk keeper league on yahoo? If so, please invite me if there's any extra room for me to join also. I'm a very active fantasy baseball GM, I'm almost obsessive-compulsive with it. I'm also a commish of two 20-team/25-man roster leagues that will be going into their 4th and 3rd seasons.
  2. from my family: 2 polo shirts a heated blanket a brown hoodie special christmas cookies from a bakery and cash from my awesome girlfriend: nice grey sleveless white sox shirt commemorative 2005 World Series patch on plaque. My girlfriend's a keeper.
  3. QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 01:29 AM) I go to grad school at the University of Pittsburgh and when I got out there I had never had the famous sandwiches from Primanti Bros. They are really freaking good if you have never had them before. They put the meat, coleslaw, and fries, all on the big french puffy bread...all served hot off the grill. Then I come to realize there is a copycat place, essentially identical right here in Chicago. There is a place in wrigleyville called Lucky's, right on Clark St just a little south of Wrigley. Its seriously identical, menu, food, prices, style, etc. Dont know if this is a patent issue, not sure if you can patent a style of food or method for preparing food, but if you have ever heard of Primanti Bros from Pitt just know that you can find the same thing here in Chicago. 3427 N Clark St. Whoa! Dude, thank you very much for sharing that!!! I saw food shows featuring Primanti Bros. and I've always wanted to go there. In fact, I was just talking to a friend about taking a road trip to Pennsylvania for it. I don't mind going to a place similar right here in Chicago, even if it's at Wrigleyville. I just saved the address on my phone, and I'm gonna try and go there sometime in the spring or summer on a day off. Since it's Wriglyville, I just GOTTA wear one of my personalized Sox jerseys, which one should I wear? The white home jersey? Grey away? Or the black alternate jersey? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what's the best way to get there? I'm from the south suburbs (Orland Park) and the only train I'm familiar with is the regular metra train that ends at Union Station downtown. I'm not too familiar with the L-train routes, so when I get off the train at Union station, which L-train should I get on? The red line?
  4. Wow, another highway shooter. Does anyone remember the sniper shootings that used to occur on Cline Highway near Hammond, Indiana? Was the shooter responsible for those shootings ever apprehended? Or is it still unsolved? I drive on Cline Highway all the time on my way to the Majestic Star Casino in Gary, and I'm always a little uneasy about a sniper still being out there somewhere. :-\
  5. I'd go with the PS3 because I think it has better quality. I've had my PS2 since it first came out and it never broke on me, neither did my original playstation. I can't wait to get the PS3 to play "Metal Gear Solid: Guns of Patriots". :-D
  6. It might actually work, if they did two things: 1. Prevent the starters in the 4-man rotation from pitching more than 5 or 6 innings per game. and 2. Have 2 long-relievers in the bullpen that can be rotated and be fresh enough to 2 or 3 innings every game to keep the late-inning relievers such as the set-up men and closer fresh. I think that's key: two long relievers and preventing the starters from throwing complete games.
  7. ...oh yea, and I also like girls with nice thick curves and a big badonkadonk. Features like that are usually not associated with "model" types that are usually rail-thin.
  8. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) What streets do you walk on everyday? 159th and Harlem. Hmmmm, I hope you're not insinuating that black and mexican girls are streetwalkers or something. :-\
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 22, 2008 -> 08:49 AM) Scotty Pods did quite well for himself, and is much hotter than all of these ladies. google images I dunno, Pods' girl looks plain, she looks like every other blonde girl that you see walking down the street. ...Then again, I'm a white guy that only dates black and mexican girls.
  10. Sorry, I couldn't translate it because I'm on my phone. But anyway... I'll be shocked if Manny signs with the Yankees. He whined about being in the fishbowl of Boston, I think he'll whine just as much or more if he ends up in the fishbowl of New York. Something tells me the "Manny being Manny" thing won't be tolerated as much by the Steinbrenners as it was until Boston finally traded Manny to the Dodgers. I'm actually surprised if Manny won't sign a contract with the Dodgers.
  11. John Danks is without a doubt my favorite pitcher on the staff right now. I can't wait until I start seeing "Danks 50" t-shirts at the stores. I hope the Sox can keep him for a long, long time. It'd be nice if Danks/Floyd can become Chicago's version of Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz. Does anyone think that, when free agency comes up, that the Danks family might favor staying in Chicago for less money rather than seek more money/years elsewhere? With how John and Jordan are no longer represented by Boras, and how their new agent is, if I'm not mistaken, the same agent as Beuhrle's, hopefully we'll always have the inside track on negotiations with the Danks.
  12. I actually stole a peanut butter granola bar yesterday. At where I work we just have a shelving unit that we use like a pantry, and I noticed a box with 2 peanut butter granola bars left. I took one. :-p
  13. Yea, I find myself checking Soxtalk a couple times a day as well, hoping for a major acquistion or trade. As each day passes and nothing happens, I feel more and more like a sucker.
  14. Since they cancelled baseball in future Olympics, I think I'd rather see the WBC take place every 4 years on years that coincides with the Olympics. Perhaps they can just keep scheduling the WBC for every three years until it coincides with the Olympics, then start doing it every 4 years. I believe that would be 2012.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) I've seen some pretty outrageous posts tonight. But this one takes the cake. I take that back. Nitetrain claiming Brandon Roy is no better than Ben Gordon has got to be tops. But your're #2. How is thinking Tex is overrated being outrageous? His stats are typical for power-hitting first basemen, he's not worth 160-170 million. Boras is just inflating the figures as much as possible so he can get a bigger commission.
  16. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) I wouldn't exactly go so far as to say that he's a scrub. He plays gold glove first base and is a great hitter, BUT, he isn't the type of player who will carry a team for weeks on end and doesn't deserve 22 mil a year. I'd say he deserves a more Konerko-esque deal. 6-7 years tops for about 12-15 million seems fair for him. Yea, I agree. That's the type of contract he should be getting. I'm just disgusted with how some players get over-inflated contracts, such as A-Rod's and Sabathia's, and even Soriano's. I just don't think it's wise business decisions to gamble that much on so many years if injuries can happen at any moment.
  17. Hmmm, well I usually only get two or three gifts for christmas each year, plus cash. So this year, I decided to save up 50 bucks from each paycheck since August for a gift for myself: three authentic White Sox jerseys with my last name (Henry) and my number, 48, on it. I'm getting one of each, the black jersey, the white one, and the grey one. I also just got email confirmation that it was shipped and that they should arrive by the 23rd. I can't wait. :-D I also got them all for 20% or 25% off when the MLB shop site had a promotion on the 8th of December, so I saved about $125 bucks or so. Yea, hopefully I'll get some cash again for Christmas so I can pass the expense along as if it was a gift from my relatives, instead.
  18. My boss called me and told me not to come in to work today AFTER I spent an hour breaking 3-inch thick ice off my car by using a hammer and 2 screwdrivers as ice picks. Ugh.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) You mean Mariano Rivera's all time saves record. Mariano surpassed Hoffman? I wasn't aware of that.
  20. I gotta be honest, though. Am I the only one who hopes Bobby will end up staying with the Sox for many and many years, avoid any major problems with his elbow, and ending up being Trevor Hoffman's all-time saves record? Bobby's young enough to do it.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 09:47 AM) No, the Red Sox are calling his bluff. They won't go over 8 years and over $22 million per season. I think $160-170 will be the range for the final number. They're going to sit back and wait for TEX to decide between the Angels (wrong coast, how much does he like the tightly-controlled Scioscia atmosphere) and playing on the Red Sox, unless the Yankees throw money at him at the last second....I just can't see him pulling an A-Rod and going to BALT or WASH just because of pure dollars, but, then again, he's a Boras client. Stranger things have happened. I can't even imagine the White Sox paying Pujols $22 million at this point. $160-170 million? Ugh. I think Teixeiria is one of the most overrated baseball players in the Majors, probably THE most overrated. I just don't think he's worth that much money and he never impressed me. Typical of scrubby players getting fat paychecks just because their agent's name is Boras.
  22. Hahaahhaah, Bobby rules. I really hope we keep him for a couple more years.
  23. Man, I hope the Sox keep Jenks. No point in letting him walk in free agency, lock him up now! What are the odds that Jenks might give the Sox a hometown discount like Beuhrle did? And what years/$ figure do you think would be the most realistic for Jenks if the Sox actually gave him an extension? 3/15? 3/12? 3/9? 3/20? hmmmmm I just assume a 3-year extension would be a given.
  24. God, I hope the Sox doesn't sign Baldelli. He's too much of a liability with his health concerns. I actually think Baldelli would be more better suited to play for a NL club as a pinch-hitter, similar to Daryl Ward on the Cubs.
