  1. Frank looks like he's having an absolute blast in the booth.
  2. You don't gamble with an offense coming into the season, even if you have the best damn pitching staff in the world. There's no excuse for what managment did this offseason.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Hochevar's got his + stuff tonight. Some nights you just gotta tip your hat....
  4. Switching back and forth with the D-backs game now. It's more fun watching a team like the D-Backs that's young and bad, rather then a team like the Sox which is old and bad. This is as much as a an argument for the start of the Flowers/Hudson era as i can make, right now.
  5. I got the Royals broadcasters again. My god this is a dull experience.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 15, 2010 -> 07:12 PM) I have zero issues with that. I just don't see the percenantage in putting your second best defensive option for the infield in the OF, when you have guys who can play the OF on the bench.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 15, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) You can add that to the Alex Rios (our best defender) never played LF in his career until this season as well. I'd add that playing a kid like Nix in the Of, was a ridiculious thing to do too.
  8. Laumann say the focus is on pitching, which i'm fine with unless Wilson is still on the board. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...teur-draft.html
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Who do you want to bat second? And how that would it matter ultimately when out of these nine players six are currently sucking? You tell me how to best optimize this lineup tonight? Why not Beckham second in the order? Of these players in the lineup, Pierre (even though he's had some hits in May), Kotsay, Ramirez, teahen, Castro and Beckham all currently suck. Good luck with a lineup. Somebody has to bat second. Beckham isn't hitting at all. Are you really going to tell me that giving him the second most at-bats out of anyone on this ballclub is optimizing the teams chances to win? It's not. We have a bad sitiuation, and Ozzie is making the worst of it.
  10. It's hard to savor the Cubs being awful what with the Sox being even worse. Still, i'll do my best.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 15, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Beckham got his slot back quickly. Ozzie would be a terrible scout master. Everyone gets a merit badge, regardless of merit.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 15, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) John McGraw couldn't win with this team. Ozzie kind of reminds me of Whitey Herzog. When Herzog's Cardinals weren't good enough to win they fell like a rock probably due in part to Whitey's disinterest. When given a team that was capable of winning there was no better manager than Herzog. I can live with that. Keep Ozzie and start the rebuild. Whitey Herzog would never have DH'd Ozzie Smith had there beeen interleague play. It wouldn't have even crossed his mind. Hitting a defense first guy like Omar Vizquel as the designated hitter was the last straw. Fire his ass.
  13. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 15, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Who are the most likely to be dealt soon?? A.J before his no trade kicks in, then Paulie then Jones.
  14. I've been trying to think of what amongst the multitude of things that a manager can pull would be an immediately fireable offense. I think DH'ing Omar Vizquel might be it. I really do.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) That's one thing I have to agree with. I almost wish I hadn't purchased the Extra Innings package. I've watched a lot of non-Sox games to this point, and the lack of talent in this organization compared to other teams is very troubling. Other than Rios, Peavy, Danks, Buehrle and a couple others, there's nobody on this team I'd want to watch if I weren't a Sox fan. i have extra-innings too and I mostly just watch D-backs games now. Mark Grace entertains the s*** out of me.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) I'd prefer to bring in someone with experience. I don't even like LaRussa, but I would give him a blank check to be the GM and manager. I'm not sure Hahn has the qualities to be a good GM. It's uncertain. Evans was a disaster in LA. He has an analytical mind, and seems to have a good head on his shoulders. He’s worth a shot. Hell, I’d even give Depodesta a shot here too. I want someone who studies the game like he has to take a test on it at 6:00 AM in the morning. I want a manager like that too.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Omar actually got a hit. You should want Oz for playing Teahen if anybody. What a f***ing stiff. You do not play an aging glove first veteran at DH. I don't care how many bloopers he hits, you don't do it. EVER.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 14, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) While not surprising, is this individual act alone a fireable offense? I'm inclinded to say it is. We're not dealing in a vacuum here either.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) It would be a shame for him to get a job with another organization, only to have KW fired a year later, etc. However, after watching Sports Sunday on NBC, I wouldn't be shocked if KW takes another position in the organization very soon. i could see a Paxon/Forman like deal with one being "promoted," and the other taking over day to day affairs.
  20. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) Yeah, but it's the roster that is broke, not the manager. I'm fine with getting somebody new, but Ozzie is not the reason that we have had bad 3 of 4 seasons. The fact that this roster is awful is the reason. Ozzie just made a lineup that has Omar Vizquel as the DH. The argument ends there.
  21. I love KW, but the sabermatician in me does glow a little when i hear the name Rick Hahn.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 14, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) Good. Let KW hire Buddy Bell, some really dull, effective manager. I think we should fire KW and give Ozzie free reign, that way we can start putting some really juicy lineups out there. I can't wait till May Sweeps!
