  1. I wanted to move on, but this is a good deal. I really can't complain about this one and i hope he turns it around.
  2. IF Paulie and Dunn both happen, i'm really ok with the Tyler Flowers era starting up under the condition of a strong spring.
  3. So Cowley Says: "The problem is that the Pierzynski ship may have already sailed. A source close to the situation said that Pierzynski was close to signing with Toronto." http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-120210.article This wouldn't suprise me, but it's odd to see Cowley bury this deep in the Dunn article.
  4. Bernstein has the White Sox as looking at former Astros RP Tim Byrdak.
  5. Cowley says that the rest of the team believes Paulie is coming back and that KW is seeking to rectify last years offensive woes with big bats. "Ozzie Ball has come and gone," says Cowley.
  6. Conference call is due in a half an hour. I'd tune into the Score.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) I think that should be the over/under during spring training. A poster called last years team an "abject failure", Id hate to see what people think of a last place team. That poster was me and i still don't regret it. We're making the right moves this years to fill holes that should have been filled last year.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) He gets our first round draft pick. It wasn't Bowden either. He got his ass fired a while ago.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) I like the Dunn signing assuming it will happen. I just hope it means they don't have to dump pitching to afford him. Or settle for Tyler Flowers at catcher. I actually think that if we could Paulie and Dunn back, then we could punt a position like catcher to give Flowers some time to find his bearings at the Major League level. Can you imagine if Flowers comes into spring with his bat back? Pierre Rios Q Dunn Paulie Beckham Ramirez Morel Flowers
  10. This is exactly type of the move i need from this organization to get my confidence in the team back. Dunn would be an outstanding addition to the club.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) The issue with this is...what do we do with Ozzie's usual desire for 2 lefty setup men in the bullpen. More to the point, what do we do without the ability to use Thornton in high-leverage spots? We're shooting ourselves in the foot by putting Matt in the spot, without another viable bullpen arm.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Or a tangent about some random animal? (see: Peavy thread - penguins) To this day, that is my favorite SoxTalk thread of all-time. Although i feel the one on Waldis Joaquin has potential.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) 175 posts and still no doctored photo of Dunn in Sox gear? Or an odd nickname by Joe? I'm ashamed of you, SoxTalk.
  14. Alright, KW. Bring him the hell in.
  15. Bobby was a huge factor in the best month of my life. (October 2005) I'll always remember that. I hope he finds a good place for himself and his family.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Chris Chambliss has left the White Sox organization to become the Mariners hitting coach. Chris Chambliss is a great guy, he was an absolute pleasure to talk to last spring, and i wish him the best.
  17. Bobby has always seemed very unwilling to adopt the work ethic that the White Sox having been trying to instill upon him. I understand the frustration that both parties have here, and agree that it’s probably time to cut the cord.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) No one was happy with finishing 2nd, but some people feel the need to use hyperbole to express it. Hyperbole? Please, I don’t see how last year could be seen as anything other than an abject failure. We conceded the division to the Twins in Spring Training. It just took it a while for that to shake out on paper. You don’t go into a season with gaping holes and your fingers crossed. I don’t care how many games we won last year, we willingly came into the season as a flawed team and ignored a very real shot at winning this division after assembling one of the best pitching staffs in the game. We went into the season with our weaknesses on glaring display for the entire world to see, that matters a lot more to be then 88 wins, a lack of a playoff berth, and a yearlong glimpse of the fundamental misunderstanding that our manager has for the game of baseball. The record is meaningless when we have nothing to show for it. I have high expectations for this team year in and out and I’d like to see this organization establish similar goals for itself.
  19. Call me cynical but I'm not sure that after the debacle of last year (which was masked by 88 wins) I'd categorize the Sox as a winning situation. Not until we get off our asses and start making the kind of moves that put us legitimately in line to be better then the Twins.
  20. I like being in the position to get picks. It's always good to have the chance to bring in some new kids for KW to trade in two years.
  21. Don't be suprised if the Yankees lose out on Jeter to see them make the same offer to Waldis Joaquin.
  22. It's a good thing i wrote all this Waldis Joaquin material years ago. I never thought i'd be able to use it, but it's testament to always being prepared.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) You have to admit, the guy gave up NOTHING during his time with us. You can't get much better than that. 0 WHIP 0 ERA... If M Night M. Night Shyamalan made a film about Waldis Joaquin’s tenure as a White Sox it would be called Untouchable and it would be an awful, awful film.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) You have to admit, the guy gave up NOTHING during his time with us. You can't get much better than that. 0 WHIP 0 ERA... That's why we called him the "Silent Assassin." It's like he wasn't even here.
  25. When i was younger i wanted it to be No More Mr. Nice Guy by Alice Cooper. Nowadays, i'd kill to walk out to The Delaney by The Libertines.
