  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) On April 30th, his OPS was .779. On April 23rd it was .708. He's having himself a great 2 weeks at the most. His numbes agre great, Balta. Just becasue he had a slow start does not excuse the fact that's he has an OPS of .927. I won't argue that he'll carry these numbers for the rest of the year, but he has them now.
  2. No need to swing at 2-0, Mark. Especially, when it's tailing away from the plate.
  3. Teahen made a great play today. Figured i'd throw that in here before he screws up and we start chewing him out.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Really? Like a week ago his OPS was under .800. He's having himself a week. He's hitting .298 with a .380 OPB with 6 homeruns and 20 RBI's His OPS is .927. He's having himself a year.
  5. Hawk was talking up Randy Ruiz, which i found odd. THere's a lot nicer things to be said about players who are not Randy Ruiz.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) That's 2 innings here with no baserunners in about 33% less time than it took for 1 baserunner-free inning of Red Sox-Yankees earlier. Swisher hit a three-run bomb off Beckett. Having himself a year.
  7. I don't like that they're playing the new tradition White Sox ads straight. I liked the ones where they didn't take themselves too seriously.
  8. Peavy must have been talking to Buehrle earlier. Mark looks pumped as all hell.
  9. Your campaign against Jayson Nix is very odd. No one is arguing that he’s a world beater. The only argument for Jayson Nix is that he has certain strengths that Ozzie refuses to not only recognize but use properly. The fact is, is that Jayson Nix was regarded as the “messiah of defense” coming out of the minors. Like most young players he’s had trouble adjusting to the major leagues. That being said, he’s certainly shown enough to play before Omar at this point in both players respective careers.
  10. Really, Steve? Mark Kotsay is your pick to click? In that case, my pick to click is Randy Williams.
  11. It's great to be back home with my Extra Innings package. This'll be the first game thread with me watching live as opposed to via MLB At-Bat in quite some time
  12. Homer Bailey.... i wonder if even Coop can fix him.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) Unless you also believe that the older guy is an upgrade on defense. In that case you hit the old guy 9th, instead of 2nd. Or simply put him in, in the later innings for defensive purposes, both of which our manager refuses to do, thusly making the old guy a detriment to the team.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) Against RHP last year, Nix put up a .621 OPS, Vizquel a .577. Against LHP last year, Nix put up a .822 OPS. Vizquel, a 1.029. (only 33 at bats). Frankly, there really is no good answer here. You're arguing that I should care about what brand of bullet I get shot in the head with. Either way, the result is the same. The answer is that you play the young guy, because the older guy has nothing to prove and offers no long-term value to the team. You see what you have in a guy like Nix, Vizquel is a know commodity.
  15. Give me Austin Wilson, or give me death. Or a good pitcher.
  16. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) KW's additona of Pierre and Kotsay and Vizquel have done little for the offense. But, as the eternal optimist says there s still time to show us they were good moves. If Pierre could get on more think of the number of SB's that guy would have and he leads the majors as it is. However, my preference was always Pods over Pierre The eternal optimist in you tells you that giving significant at-bats to an injury-hobbled backup 1b and a defensivley minded utilty man will prove to be good moves? Especially, when giving at-bats to these people was the justification behind not bringing back Jim Thome?
  17. Anyime Ozzie wants to put a logical lineup together is fine with me. Until then i will continue to take this team as seriously as he is.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 7, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) Pierre7, Vizquel4, Jonesdh, Rios8, AJ2, Q9, Teahen5, Kotsay3, Ram6. Buehrle pitching. My feelings on this lineup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6aRwky0W5Y...feature=related
  19. Nix needs to be in the lineup over Vizquel. He won't be, but whatever.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:28 PM) If they want some offense injected, they have to go with Nix. I suppose against a LHP, you also HAVE to go with Nix, even if you WANT WANT WANT to play Vizquel in the two spot and lead his induction parade into the streets of Cooperstown on a donkey with palm leaves trailing in his wake. Nix should be getting the majoirty of the starts that Vizquel has been getting. I don't think we're ready for a Teahen platoon just yet, but i see no need to keep sending Omar out their when we have a younger guy who can do everything he does, and actually hit for pop. Omar should be a mentor to Beckham. Ramirez and Nix not a guy who being depended on to contribute.
