  1. What people forget about Waldis is his intangibles. He was a great clubhouse guy and one of those guys who was never going to make his impact on the field. Instead, Waldis took it upon himself not to make a fuss over his apparent unwillingness to play for the White Sox. I will never forget him.
  2. Clearly, Waldis' contributions to this team were invaluable, but both parties recognized that it was time to move on. He made the right choice.
  3. I'm ready for this organization to move on from A.J. If moving on from A.J. means throwing Flowers into the starter’s role and hoping that last year was a blip... I have ambiguous feelings about that. Obviously, it stands a huge risk of failure, but if we address every other need properly, it might not kill us. Emphasis on the might.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) I bet you that there was some anticipation of being able to get out from under a part of those deals by the new CBA in the Grizz's minds when they signed it. I have serious doubts that Heisey has anything more then a limited understanding of the CBA. I really think he just misread the market on Gay.
  5. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Speaking of Gay, a lot of people were questioning that deal he got this summer, but I would say Gay's deal isn't looking that bad right now. Is he truly worth the max? Probably not. But how many players are worth a true max deal? He was going to get that money regardless, so the Grizz had to pay him to keep him. There are much worse max contracts out there, especially considering his game has seemingly taken another step this year (see game winner over LeBron the other night). 22 pts, 7 reb, 3 ast, and 49% FG (39% from 3). Those are pretty damn good numbers. The fact is that he could be putting up these numbers while making a lot less. This coupled with the Conley deal and the Heisey VS Rookies debacle from this offseason just show that the Grizzlies are a financially inept organization.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) Seriously, not even close. Come on. Agreed, the contracts that were given to Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson offseaon make Dengs' deal a lot more favorable. Not to mention the fact that Deng is putting up legitimate numbers across the board.
  7. I know that the circumstances have changed now that BA is gone, but i still don't think Ozzie would take a shine to having Brandon back.
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) Every one of the movies left out details that were very important in the book. This movie pretends that they haven't. It's an interesting approach.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) Did you have the feeling that if you haven't read the books, some of the finer points might be looked over by someone who has only seen the movies? Absolutely, the film kind of assumes you have book knowledge at a couple of points. It’s a minor thing, but it’s a bit confusing.
  10. I really wonder if there's a match to be had here between the Royals (Greinke) and D-Backs (Upton).
  11. I just got back from Part 1. That was absolutely intense; I really liked it, and apart from a few flaws found it to be consistently engaging throughout. A word of caution: this is absolutely PG-13 to the core. There were people sobbing in the audience at times during this movie.
  12. I remember hearing that coming off his good year, Duke was told by his pitching coach to rework everything and just cracked. It seems like a similiar case to what happened to Gavin in Philly.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) The only thing that's going to suck about Boozer coming back is that it's going to cut into Taj's playing time. Kid is a beast, very underrated. I don't think Gibson stands to lost a substantial amount of minutes when Booz gets back. It's likely that the majority of Bogans' minutes will be distributed between Brewer and Taj, with Asik taking a hit of about 5-or-so minutes a game, and Scal seeing a lot more DNP-CD's. Thibo knows who his horses are and Taj and Jo have good enough handles that they can send a big lineup out and just shut people down.
  14. I'd be all over this as a "Coop can fix 'em" type deal. However, in no way shape or form should we clear any kind of space in the rotation for him outside of leaving the 5 spot open for guys to grab till Peavy gets back this spring.
  15. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Stop calling him TCQ. What does the T even stand for?! The. As in The Carlos Quentin. It comes from this legenday quote by TKW ""We wanted to upgrade at shortstop, get a setup guy for the bullpen, acquire Carlos Quentin, and not a guy like him but actually Carlos Quentin," said Williams in definitive tones during this conversation. " http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=cws The fanbase started talking about how KW wanted The Carlos Quentin, not a guy like him and a dream was born.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) Has that been said at all recently? I know that was his knock as a rookie with the Sox but has that changed? Greinke actually gives a large part of the credit for his CY Young to Olivo. I think Olivo has established a comfort level now that he didn't have when he was younger.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) Looks like Sox asked for Logan Morrison for Ozzie Awesome, i love to see JR at least do his due diligence on this one.
  18. I don't buy it. It would deprive us of depth when we need it the most.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) I didn't. The Heat and the Lakers were the two teams that I didn't believe the Bulls would be able to compete with. Especially when we get Carlos back, we're going to be able to absolutely murder Miami inside, I'm becoming a believer. If the Bulls can get another shooter by the break then they can match up with anybody.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) I think this is what KW is fearing, the Tigers improving and the Twins staying about the same could easily push the Sox out of the picture if he can't land the pieces he wants. He won't sell off a ton of pieces, but I see him staying away from FA and trying for younger projects. I'd be fine with moving in a younger direction, my fear is KW putting his eggs in the wrong basket like last year. If we're going to take gambles, they better have a high upside.
  21. Dunn on The Tigers is potent. We need to have a counter move in mind.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) I don't know about a "major way" or not...especially on offense, but supposedly he was quite effective on defense in that run in the 2nd quarter last night. Brewer is never going to be an option on the offensive end outside of in transition, but he's an ideal stopper in Thibo's defensive schemes.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) Brewer was +16 on the night. He’s clearly getting progressively healthier as the year goes on. Once he gets in synch with the rest of the team, he’s a guy who can contribute in a major way.
  24. That's a killer quote by KW up there. I hope he follows his own advice.
