  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Don't say "firey" guy around a manager, haha. They don't need to be reminded how short their shelf lives are. FIERY. Fixed.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) i'd rather try de aza first De Aza isn't hitting at all in AAA. Kotsay is proof enough that spring training doesn't count for anything in the majors.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) Rios might have 40 SB by the time season is over. Would any of you be willing to give Jordan Danks shot at leadoff? Nope, i'd bat him 9th and take the pressure off. Rios needs to be hitting at the top of the order.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Teahen falling back to Earth. Not going to be compensated for with his D. 819 OPS now. He's slumping. As long as he gets on-base and can supply some pop, he's a right-side better then Chris Getz ever was. Don't forget that Chris Getz wasn't a gem with the glove either. Getz also can't play 1b, 3b, Rf, or LF.
  5. Nippert used to be a huge prospect for the D-backs. I was flipping through a WhiteSox/D-Backs spring training program from 2004 and saw names like Sergio Santos and Carlos Quentin in the top ten. I couldn't help but smile
  6. My man love for Davey Johnson is unabated. He's hasn't coached in the majors in 10 years but he's been managing internationally and now works in the Nat's front office. He's a man made of fire and passion with a heart insulated in steel that was forged in the bowels of hell. He also studies the game, is willing to take risks in the Weaver-Ball mold, knows how to run an offense, and has as many rings on his fingers as Ozzie does.
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Ok what happened? I'm watching the game using an MLB At-Bat free trial. It's pretty damn cool. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?g...&mode=atbat
  8. I love giving away outs to set-up a sitiuation which the next hitter has proven he can't come through in.
  9. We're playing in Texas, Ozzie. In the American League.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) How is he still not our leadoff hitter? Our Manager doesn't believe in OBP. He knows that Pierre is/was fast and that's all that matters.
  11. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) w sox forgot their bats at spring training facility. sorry to inform we will not be hitting for rest of year. We didn't even have that good a spring. Most people assumed that we'd start hitting once we got to the regular season.
  12. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) I think it was Bobby Valentine who did that once because his team was struggling. They ended up winning the game. Maybe Ozzie should just draw names out of a hat. It was Billy Martin. He called Reggie Jackson into his office in '77 and had Yogi Berra write down all of the names he picked out on a blackboard.
  13. Pierre and Beckham should not be hitting so high in the order. Nor should Rios be hitting that low.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) Wow, I didnt see all of that in Zeligs post. You sure can read good Zelig responded to a post asking how Ozzie could screw up a lineup, with "not having Peavy give up 5 runs." That's counter-intuitive; Peavy sucking (which we all agree is a huge problem for this team) has nothing to do with taking responsibility off of Ozzie's poor decision making. Peavy starts every 5 days, Ozzie makes the lineup 100% of the time.
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 10:15 AM) I hope he doesn't give up 5 first inning runs again too. Yes, because all of Ozzie's poor managing can be written off by Peavy's bad start.
  16. I want a manager who puts thought into every move and every lineup he makes. I want a manager whose only purpose in lineup creation is to maximize offensive production.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) What are you talking about? Not a big deal. Made a joke that was oddly specific enough to not be replicated a half an hour later on a seperate board. Figured worth bringing it up in this thread.
  18. Davey Johnson. Try to keep Coop on staff. IF not Brenly or Bobby Valentine's are notions worth exploring.
  19. One of the WSI'ers stole one of my jokes tonight. It was a play on the "why dye no have job?" twitter thing, that one of them plucked out of today's gamethread and posted in one of their post-game threads. It was a bit too much to be a coincidence. I'm honored. Soxtalk always does have the best material.
  20. Huh, someone on WSI stole my "going to dinner in half hour, why ozzie still have job?" twitter joke. Guess we are being watched. Don't know why. Wasn't that good a joke anyway.
