  1. I might take heat for this but i have no problem with the White Sox drafting Joe Borchard. He, Nady, and Tag Bozied looked like elite prospects coming out of California. I can't blame the White Sox for biting on him
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 12:16 AM) nice outing by Richard against the Giants. I love watching him pitch. There's a lot of Buehrle in him.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) I love how this thread has become about Lebron being a douche, vs about the Bulls being crap. The Bulls didn't play like crap tonight, Lebron acted like a douche. Not sure i see the point.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) The Barons now have a sub .200 winning percentage. On a brighter note, one of the few things in life it's okay for a man to cry about, I got to take my son to his first baseball game. Even better, he's already showing signs that he's left handed. TEACH HIM THE CUTTER.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) Viciedo 2-4, homer Nice, first bomb of the year, and he's gradually building his average back up.
  6. The Cav's just shot 56.7% from the field and the Bulls still only lost by ten. I'm actually really pleased with the effort they put out, they're simple overmatched.
  7. Bulls are putting up a fight. I'm proud of these guys.
  8. Danks is rocking in the free world.... and AAA.
  9. Swish's 2008 is a good example of an odd BABIP year, Jay Bruce's 2009 is another. Oddly, enough where Swish recovered the year after, Bruce has come out of the gate even unluckier.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) There's a good reason not to panic right there. Yes, because our lineups are of similiar quality enough to make that kind of comparison..
  11. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) I've never understood why people find it necessary to point out this distinction. It just seems like some sort of meticulous criticism that you probably picked up from B&B. Especially, amongst a crowd of people that are so devoted to the White Sox that we post on a message board, and flip out on a daily basis about the state of the team.
  12. It amazes me how the plurarily of Jewish voters remain staunchly democratic despite this administration's obvious turn away from Israel.
  13. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) If I knew that this is the lineup we are going to play out the season with and Kotsay is going to start 100 games, hitting 3rd, 5th, or 9th, I would sadly say that yes the season is over. It was pretty obvious by the end of the spring that Ozzie intended to give Kotsay the lion's share of AB's at the DH, which project out to be around 400 AB's, Ozzie even went so far as to say that he wanted to bat Kotsay third going into othe regular season. None of this is a shock.
  14. Pods wasn't the answer. We need to stop pretending that he was, because all it's going to do is make us even angrier in the weeks to come.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Trading for veterans is the last thing this team should do. It's ridiculous for this team to trade for Gonzales. The team is full of holes everywhere except the bullpen. The starting pitching, while it should be good, is thin; veterann starters are getting old; at some positions, Williams and Guillen have utility-level talent starting (including at DH over 1/2 the time). The bullpen is solid The team needs young talent and better find a way to get some or it will be a series of long, long long witers on the south side. Gonzalez is 28 years old, not exactly a declining product at this point, he's also one of the better hitters in all of baseball. Bringing him in implies that this organization intends to build towards the future with him as their centerpeice. It's not a move for the sake of a move, it's a move to improve the team.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 10:12 PM) it appears it's either signifying communism or an elite aerial combat exercise. Or it's a white flag stained with the blood of rotating DHs' of yore.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) After seeing these new American Airlines commercials, did they put bigger seats in their planes? I'm going to AZ in Sept and may book with them if that is the case. Being 6'5 sucks when flying. Christ, Brian. I guess we really do all look up to you.
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) "If Gordon Beckham is back at shortstop we're in big trouble. Missile is a much better SS." - Oz on his infield. He was talking about who we'd put at 2b in the event of a Ramirez trade. In reality it would be Omar Vizquel. In truth, it should probably by Beckham at SS and Nix at 2b.
  19. The best part of this by the numbers Greg Walker deflecting blame on the hitters article? We get an answer to the dreaded emergency catcher (and pitcher) question. And, i was totally right. Suck it, SoxTalk. "Manager Ozzie Guillen said Kotsay would be his emergency pitcher and Jayson Nix his third catcher if his roster got stretched out as the Cardinals' and the Mets' did during their 20-inning game Saturday. Kotsay was a standout outfielder and pitcher at Cal State Fullerton in the mid-1990s." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1560038.story
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) Why do people use terms like "fundamentally flawed"? Why not just say they aren't a strong team? Sometimes you just don't have a roster capable of competing with top teams. After two weeks, it looks like the Twins have a superior roster. A lot is going to have to change to turn that around, but there's still time. I'd call going into the season without a DH, a decent 2nd LHP, and a long-man for the pen, fundamentally flawed.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) yeah, I think most of us remember that, but there's also 149 games left in the season, and as a poster said above, this team can play better... will they or at least do it quickly enough? Who knows. I think if you'd acknowledge the problems this team was having right now, rather then writing them off as too early, you'll find the eventual realization that, "Boy, maybe this team really is fundamentally flawed from the beginning," a lot easier to come to terms with.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Shelby with a double for B'ham. Hot bat. I wonder if the inevitable consequence of Retheford being called-up, could be Shelby going to AAA. If he keeps hitting like this, he might fall into a promotion.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) you're not ready to write a 20 or 21 year old off in his 2nd year of professional baseball? Way to walk out on a limb. I didn't really see the need to go combative there, but I guess you did. I was defending the guy, not painting myself as an authority on the subject,
  24. According to Twitter, Ozzie plans on enjoying his day off, "I hope I can enjoy my off day in miami I need one"
  25. George Springer the CF from UCONN (i'm a bit biased) is toolsy as all hell, putting up great numbers, and was drafted by the Twins a couple years back. Wouldn't mind bringing him into the fold.
