Let's just pretend someone dropped a nuclear bomb in a hole and this is an alternative reality game thread. -
Norfolk should win a lot of games with that pitching staff. It'll be nice to see how our bats perform against a guy like Tillman.

Are we seriously having an arguement over who was more awesome last night?

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) if it was a video game i'd put CQ at DH and pierre in LF. But since I have legitimate concerns about TCQs mental makeup 100% on the bench, What differs in TCQ's mental approach to the game when he's the DH, instead of playing the field? The DH might actually be beneficial to Carlos in that he can go back to the clubhouse to watch tape or to the cages to work out some kinks, immediately upon failure, rather than after the game.

I have a memory game that helps me to remember why, despite his great hitting last year, i didn't want PODs back for this one. It's called remembering that extra-inning game in Seattle where he got picked off 3rd.
-
Yep, platoon is a bust but Jones looks like a player. I'm inclined to deal with Pierre's dead arm in LF, becasue he still has acceptable range. I'd remove the injury risk for TCQ that is playing the field, and send out an OF of RF-Jones, CF- Rios, LF-Pierre with Q at DH.

Mark Teahen gets some well-deserved pimpage from Fangraphs after carrying the Sox last night. "The winning team, as a whole, will only have a +.500 WPA. Teahen shouldered the entire load and some more for the White Sox on Monday night in what could be one of the biggest, in terms of clutch hitting and value to the team, performances of the entire year. In his final 3 PAs, in which he went 3-3 with a 3B, a HR, and 3 RBIs, the run he knocked in either tied the game or gave the White Sox the lead. The leverage index of these three plays were 1.86, 2.90, and 3.43, respectively. Teahen came up huge in big spots for Chicago. To do so once can make you a hero. To do so three times in the same game? That’s simply amazing." http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/t...rries-white-sox

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 01:26 AM) Jenks looked good against Minnesota? I'm not so sure about that. Those were two pretty shaky saves, although I guess they all look like 1-2-3 innings as far as converted save/save opportunity, which is the bottom line. Bobby pretty much blew the save in the last Twins game. He got bailed out my a terrrible choice by the Twins 3rd base coauch. I just don't have that much faith in Bobby anymore. He's shown regression over the last few years and he let's too many men on. That being said, i don't see any other place for him on the team, but in the closer's spot. Guys like Putz, Thornton and Santos are far more valuable to the team working outside of it.
-
I'd like Santos to become the 7th inning man for the team. He can makee a far better contribution to the team as a lead-in to Thornton then being stuck in the closers' spot.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) Also, Jenks is not awful, 3 K's. Fantastic save? No. Awful save? No. If he can K people regularly, why are we pooping our pants? Because he keeps giving up hits and putting men on.
-
Also, if anyone can make me a sig picture with Jayson Nix on a milkbox with a, "Have you seen this, Man?" caption, i'll bounce them up a star in the always meaningful Soxtalk profile rankings.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) I think I saw Jayson Nix in the dugout. I swear he's on the team. :headbang :gosoxretro: You should point Ozzie in his direction. I mean Nix is 5'5, but him and Ozzie should be able to see eye to eye.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) Fixed, but point taken. IF TCQ is playing DH and we're talking Jones in RF, you've got ourself a deal.

It's not Kotsay. Not with his knees. I'd guess Nix too. -

Jones needs to start full-time at DH. Kotsay can play sunday with the Ghost of Jayson Nix.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) He meant Quentin bunt with runners already at 2nd and 3rd. You don't bunt with your best hitter. -

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Absolutely not. Bunting there made all the sense in the world. A 2 run lead is twice as much as a 1 run lead. You do realize that while bunting moves the runner over it doesn't get them in right? Meaning either way somebody needed to get a hit, which is easier to do with out giving up an out.
