  1. Let's squander every chance we get! A savvy play by the veteran. I ask again, why isn't Nix playing against the LHP?
  2. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) And our offense is so bad... thanks KW KW went after Matsui, Johnson, Damon and was shot down by Ozzie on Thome. I don't put the burden of the blame on him.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) I really didn't think I needed the green there... f***, sorry man. This board's getting to me.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) The twins really are turning into the White Sox complete with lack of clutch hitting and stupid base running mistakes. They're 3-1, hitting really well, and they made one terrible play. Not sure we can make judgements here
  5. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) why cant the sox do that? Because the Twins actually pursued decent players this offseason?
  6. Any logical reason why Vizquel is starting versus a LHP over Nix? Ozzie? Didn't think so.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) I have never heard a baseball player say this. I have, however heard many say the exact opposite. IF Carlos really can't handle failure to the point where he can't sit on a bench and focus on his next at-bat, then he has a serious pyschological problem. . If anything this will give him even more time to go down to the batting cage and take some hacks.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) In honor of our awful offense I'll be eating a bundt cake during the game. And in honor of our offense I will not be accomplishing much today.
  9. I missed a final last year, because I misread the schedule. Just go to the teacher (or shoot him an email), and be honest. Apologize profusely. He's not out to get you, tell him you want to take it ASAP, don't allow him to think that you're bulls***ting him or stalling.
  10. Jones 1-4 lifetime with an RBI against Liriano Kotsay 2-4 lifetime with an RBI. Yay, for small sample sizes! Just play Jones anyway.
  11. Not only would i give him a standing ovation, but i'd start a "We want Thome" chant
  12. We can't, man. He'd go crazy. Don't you know? Carlos is so intense that he can't sit alone on a bench next to the coaching staff and the veterans.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) Let's hold off on pronouncing Viciedo at 3B dead for now. Playing Vizquel at 3B isn't worse because he gives you much better defense at any position you play him (certainly better than Teahen) and he can lay down a bunt and advance runners at a very minimum. He's not a good hitter, but he's a smart situational hitter. Omar Vizquel would be an absurdly bad option to play everyday in the AL. He cannont hit, all the defense in the world, isn't going to make up for that.
  14. I'd like to actually use speed to its advantage and orient our offense around getting on-base and hitting doubles. Something like: Rios CF Beckham 2b Quentin DH Konerko 1b Teahen 3b Jones RF AJ C Alexei SS Pierre LF
  15. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) none of those options are any better. playing vizquel at 3rd is much worse. moving beckham around again is dumb. and as i have stated before viciedo is not ever playing 3b in the majors Agreed, the optimal one out of those is Nix at 2nd and Beckham at 3rd and we should not be shuffling Gordon around like that. I have that Teahen will work it out. For all those missing Chris Getz, don't. He was neither a good hitter, nor a good defender. He was simply a grinder, and we're seeing what an offense full of grinders comes to at the present.
  16. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Man what can be done with Teahen if he does suck? Could he even be traded? Right, now? We play Vizquel at 3rd, Nix at 3rd, We move Beckham to 3rd and Nix plays everyday at 2nd, or we promote Viciedo (and cross our fingers).
  17. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) What's that have to do with today's Indians/White Sox game? Look at the 5th spot in the order. See who isn't there.
  18. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) Never said I was better than anyone, but if it helps to end the pity party/everyone sucks talk, break out the barbies and call it a night. Don't forget the My Little Pony pajamas. We don’t need to be patronized to after a tough loss. Just let the venting happen and we’ll move on.
  19. Flowers with a solo and Danks2 with a two-run bomb. Not bad for his AAA debut.
  20. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:18 AM) You guys are a bunch of girls. Grow up. If you can't handle the ups and downs of the season go be a Yankee fan. Yeah, you really just proved that you're better then us. We should have know that valid complaints were girl stuff. I'm going to go play with a barbie and talk about how cute A-Rod is.
  21. Stunning new article from WhiteSox. com Thome missed, well respected by Team. ""People think I made that decision about Jimmy, and yes, I did. I take the full responsibility," Guillen said. "I talked to Jimmy about why he can't be here, I don't have that many at-bats for him. He understood. At least I was honest with him. I said what I was thinking about the ballclub and Jimmy truly understands what my idea, and you can put it that way, my idea, about not bringing him back, and I respect that." " http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws No s***, You don't say?
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) Immediately bunted the guy to second like ALL managers do in a tie game in extra innings with no outs. Let's make some more generalizations.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:13 AM) The strategy worked. It's the same strategy we used in the bottom of the ninth. We get a single ... we win the game. We had 2 outs to do it. Players failed. We lose. Case closed. It was not a bad managerial decision. I agree the OTHER call woulda been have Juan steal second, then bunt. Would that have worked? We'll never know. Hit and run with Gordo? Maybe. Would that have worked? We'll never know. It's not the same damn strategy. Lou Marson is a rookie catcher hitting at the bottom of the order. Gordon Beckham is a blossoming superstar who hits doubles, like Will Cordero hits women.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) So can Cleveland. It won them the game. Yeah, it definitely wasn’t them hitting the ball and driving runners in. it was advancing a runner to second.
