It's hard not to get excited about a team with limited resources that already seem poised to make the same mistakes as this year.

Ozzie and the staff will be back for 2011

I'm actually really unmotivated to root for this team next year.It feels like a Lovie Smith lameduck type of deal. -

f*** this organization. Ozzie has no right to run this show for another year. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) I don't see a problem with what he say, and he wasn't saying he was good. He said he battled, and was a professional, and that it didn't end the way he wanted it to. Where in what he said do you get the impression he was saying he was good? I agree with his quote. The article actually didn't move me in any signifcant direction. Frankly, i'm just happy that Kotsay isn't trying to make too many excuses for his performance this year.

I really liked Murton too. Other then being a pretty decent ballplayer, he was a really cool guy. I hope he keeps making a name for himself out there.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) 21 Bobby Browlie (good work Cubs) Brownlie had a hell of an arm.... then it fell off. He fits right into that Cubs tradition of mishandling power pitchers. -
Unless Peavy isn't healthy the answer is neither of them.

Mark Kotsay thinks that Mark Kotsay wasn't a bust as DH. ‘‘If you look at the whole year from a Mark Kotsay standpoint, it’s been criticism from the get-go,’’ the lefty hitter said. ‘‘I didn’t get off to a good start, I got buried, I slowly got myself out of that hole when the team was having success in the winning portion of the season. But even in that turnaround, there was always talk that we needed a left-handed bat.’‘ ‘‘Hey, you know what? It’s been the whole season. I think I was able to carry myself in a professional manner and realize, ‘Yeah, my success as a whole, if I evaluate my whole year, it’s not nearly where I wanted it to end.’ But I think I battled, I think I fought the whole season.’‘ http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox27.article

Well, this is a troubling time to go on a winning streak. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 25, 2010 -> 10:23 AM) It was supposed to be a joke, but now that I look at it that way, I'm the idiot. I was drinking heavily freshman year, if that answers your first question. Not as heavily as this current team is pushing me towards though

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) I'd love to see Starlin Castro have 50 sacrifice bunts next season. Geo Soto would be hitting 7th and Tyler Colvin would be platooning with Mark Kotsay for the bulk of the year
-
Hell, i'd love to see the Cubs as managed by Guillen. You put that kind of lineup in his hands, without the kind of pitching staff that he's been working with here, you have a consistent 75 win team.

I was just flipping through one of my notebooks from freshman year and saw this written down: AJ Konerko Missle Uribe O-Cab Dye Griff Swish Thome BA Q Hall Is it sad that a part of me was like, "Ah, those were the good old days?"

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) Could that be considerd tampering? Anyway, it sure would turn the outlook of this team around in a hurry. It was said in jest, but i don't think he'd hesitate for a minute if the chance presented himself.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) Would Reinsdorf sign off on a 200 million contract... even for Pujols? He's actually on record (The Club) saying he'd pay as much money as possible to land Pujols.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) So what happens when we sign a Type A? We don't have to give up a 1st round pick as long as its 15 and back? Someone enlighten me please. I believe our first round pick is always protected. The other team would get a pick or two in the compensation round.

Manny's a late scratch.

Walker May Retire -- according to the Sun Times

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) Jim Thome, Jermaine Dye, and Paul Konerko. I don't think 2005 was a fluke...but that was an easy answer. That's not what i meant, Balta. Two of those players gave key contributions to the 2005 team. I was simply saying that both those teams had enough talent to be legit challengers for consecutive years. -
Something clearly has to give between Kenny and Ozzie. There's no way that they can go at this for another year, the only thing that's gotten them this far is that they're both stubborn.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) This is all about what "fluke" means. If you think it means the 2005 team somehow got lucky, then you are delusional. The team that went 1st place wire to wire, won 99 games and went 11-1 in the post-season was without a doubt the best team in baseball in 2005. Now, if by "fluke" you mean that 2005 was an unexpected and/or unlikely event compared to other seasons for the Sox, then obviously yes, it was a fluke. Lots of key players had career years, most specifically in the pitching staff. IF 2005 was a fluke, then how do we explain 2006? That team was solid too. I'd agree that we were lucky, but i think everyone has a differing idea on what fluke means. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) Florida will fall in love with Ozzie Guillen. He is a rising star; already has one WS title before 50. Should get many more here, but too bad much of the fan base could not just accept the fact he knows what he's doing. Honestly, i contend that if the fan base doesn't like what Ozzie is doing, they should stop watching the f***ing White Sox.

God, i hope so.
-
Boy, i sure hope Visquel and Kotsay get these valuable at-bats at the end of the season. (green)

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) Kevin Towers to take over the D-Backs. Logan White must give the worst interviews of all time. He's incredibly qualified, but never comes close to getting a job.
