  1. You don't just try coke at what, 53? Considering the era Wash played in i'd be willing to be this isn't the first time it's touched his nose.
  2. God, i really hope Jones and Kotsay can translate these numbers to the regular season.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 02:08 PM) Ron Washington likes cocaine apparently. Nice example for Josh Hamilton. This is shockingly irresponsible on multiple levels. I like Wash, but his ass needs to be fired for this. Not only is this bad press, but this is a huge risk for Hamilton to be on a team led by this guy,
  4. Dukes must have done something. I imagine it's going to come out sooner rather than later.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) You don't like the 1959 Captain Stubby ditty? Let's Go Go-Go White Sox? Can't say it's a fave. It's a bit too dated to have that combination of cheese and sing-along "fun" that "Go Cubs Go" has.
  6. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) I did not know Steve Goodman wrote that s***ty song. It’s not the greatest song in the world, but it creates a nice atmosphere in The Urinal after the games. I wouldn’t mind the Sox getting a victory song, hopefully, a decent one.
  7. The Nat's released Elijah Dukes. Riggleman claimed that it was "baseball related." I think there's more to this story.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 02:41 AM) It is? This dude had no future with this organization. Now losing Mitchell for the year is bad news. When healthy Hynick is your 8th starter in the White Sox organization. He threw a no-hitter in Colorodo AAA, has decent stuff, and is a really good guy. I'm not in a position to write him off, or root against him.
  9. s***, i really like Hynick too. That's bad news.
  10. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) Yeah, I hope the same. Nix and Lillibridge are both garbage. CJ would bring so much more to the team, but he's gonna head down to Charlotte soon. Have you actually payed attention to what Nix has done, or do you just like to tear players down to prop up others? Nix is not great, but he's a utility player with one really good position, two decent one, another subpar, good power, and a good platoon split He's a flawed player, not a bad one.
  11. Seriously, while an undrafted kid like C.J. who has worked himself up, might make decent filler for the backend of a deal, De Aza could hardly headline a trade for Mike Mcdougal.
  12. I'm not sure i saw Mitchell pushing for a job next spring, but he was looking great. I wish someone had caught the Mitchell play on film. If that's the play that he had to go out on, it certainly wasn't lacking in the spectacular.
  13. I like the black ones. I'm glad they've slowly replaced the grey ones. Those were rather dreary.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) (Serious question)...how much can we take from last year's performance, when he'd only been a 2b his whole career up to that point? I agree. We all talk about Becham having to adjust to 3b on the fly, but Nix was the same way with 3b, SS, and LF. No one seems to talk about that.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) And he's worthless defensively when not at 2nd. He's not worthless at 3b, actually. He's about average there. He's worthless at SS.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) Did Hudson make the team that I'm not aware of? If I was a player, I'd probably slap you if you told me I was an ace..... in AAA and not having faith in making the big league team even if I'm in denial. I really did forget about Huddy likely going to Charlotte. I do like Hynick, but yeah, he's not better than Hudson. Really nice guy though. Not a bad pitcher either.
  17. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) Anyone have a Beckham jersey yet?? I got one as a gift from my folks for my birthday. It's really great.
  18. I'm writing this in a rush, so forgive the usual errors. Thunderbolt’s epic spring training tour concluded today as Daniel Cabrera and Erick Threets were beaten by the Brewers in painful fashion. Floyd was dominant; the highlight was a vicious curve to put down Jim Edmonds. On the offensive end, Beckham and Rios are revved up and ready to go. Ramirez and Viciedo each had tremendous defensive plays, while Danksy 2 had a great throw from center to nail a guy at home. Viciedo, following the play, tossed me the game ball. Never had that happen to me before. Also, Colina and Silverio appear to have no idea how to recieve and react to throws from the outfield, this is a problem. The highlight of the game (dreadfully dull after four) was after a blown call to Botts (the first base umpire was atrocious today), a fan shouted, “GO OVER THERE AND SLAP HIM, HAROLD!” and Baines laughed hysterically. I had two great exchanges with Brandon Hynick and Ken Macha. Hynick was walking unnoticed by the fans until I shouted, “BRANDON! BRANDON HYNICK!” and instantly made him the most popular player on the team for a minute and a half. He came over, and I said, “Happy to have you out of Colorado."Ace of the Charlotte staff!” He grinned and said, “Happy to be here.” Next came, Ken Macha after the game, who grunted as I said, “Glad you’re in the National League, now I can root for you.” This was a lie, and then “I hope you beat the Cubs A LOT.” This was a fact. I got Chris Chambliss (really great guy) to come over and sign, leaving him with, “Have a great year in Charlotte” as a parting thought. Next, I got Trayce Thompson who was also easily ignored because his name actually isn’t listed on the active roster. He seems like a really great good, and apart from an Atrocious play in left, showed a really nice arm. Harold Baines, despite turning my father down in a hilarious fashion for a photo, was good enough to sign. Same with Greg Walker. The most impressive player I saw during my time there was Jordan Danks. Jordan is just a great guy smiling constantly, playing jokes on the other players (mostly Beckham), and talking to fans. I can’t wait to see him on the big show, and I wish him only the best. I had a great experience this spring, and look forward to doing it all again this year.
  19. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) Grown men wearing shirts with other grown men's names on them is strange/creepy/sorry. When you get your driver's license you should have to turn in your jerseys. That's a ridiculious notion. Getting older doesn't mean you have to stop rooting for individual players. If anything getting older, should reaffirm your beliefs as a fan. Feeling at all concerned that something like this is creepy, says a lot about the person holding that opinion.
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) I like that the kid went balls out in a split squad spring training game. The boy's got game, heart and desire. I think he will work hard play by August, destroy the AFL and Venezuelan winter league and look to make the big club some time in 2011. It could be a good thing if he was on the KW trade list. It also could be bad if he was on the KW trade watch, depending on how you look at it. That one play exemplified why he was drafted. His athleticism is unparalleled, the entire play was spectacular. From his read of the ball off the bat, to the grand finish that cost him a year.
  21. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 01:36 AM) Thunderbolt, did you ignore Donny Lucy for the 2nd game in a row when you were asking for autographs? Poor Donny. Nah, i think Donny went to Vegas. I did get Cole Armstrong though, and he looked like he was in a surly mood. Am i redeemed?
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 12:17 AM) I've said it for a while.. I really, really like De Aza. My hate for Pierre does help that though. De Aza has a suprisingly good approach at the plate for a guy with his skillset. I really like what i've seen from him.
  23. I'm not suprised. It really did look bad in person. This is obviously upsetting news, i was really looking forward to watching him develop this year.
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Holy crap that's a whole lotta bad. Meanwhile the assholes in Tempe get Jake Peavy. Oh, we got him. He looked great. We get Floyd tomorrow too.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 12, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) I just watched "The Princess Bride" and laughed when I saw your post. It was too good to pass up I just enjoy how half of our exchanges end with me apologizing for misusing a word. I’m not complaining, I can use the help, I just think it’s hysterical.
