  1. Great challenge pitch by Gavin on 3-2. Blew it the hell by him
  2. Gavin appears to be channeling a little Daniel Cabrera here.
  3. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) I'm curious to know what everyone's projections of Hudson as a major league starter would be. One of baseball prospectus' comps was Matt Garza. I could see that kind of learning curve, coupled with eventually solid results.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) As good Dmetri Martin? That's bulls*** casting. Hill looks nothing like Depo. You give Martin a shave and a trim and you've got a vague resemblance. Justin Bartha, Doug from the Hangover, would be a far better choice if they're look for a look-a-like comedian crossover guy. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0058581/ Depo: http://www.greatertalent.com/backend/speak...sta,%20Paul.jpg
  5. Who was it that KW went off on two years ago? Swish?
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) The thing is that McCarthy really feels his growth was stunted by his time in the pen. Would that happen to Hudson? Who knows. I always thought that McCarthy’s issues with this organization were more about the public statements Ozzie kept giving about him and BA, and less about his time spent in the pen. As is stands, the bullpen is the best chance for Hudson to get innings at the major league level, while letting him work with Don Cooper on a daily basis. He seems excited for the oppurtunity, hopefully he'll embrace it and flourish.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) Oh gosh...is being a professional hitter like being a grinder? Screw being a professional hitter, give me a talented hitter. It's starting to worrying me how these baseball cliches are starting to spread around this community. It was a lot easier to reason with people before someone, "clogging the bases" became a legitimate excuse to not value a player.
  8. It was nice to see Carlos get off to a nice start, out of the DH spot no less. Perhaps, a sign of things to come.
  9. Jayson "Destroyer of Worlds" Nix went to town tonight. That 4th spot on the bench is as good as his.
  10. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) The decision to send Hudson to Triple-A Charlotte as a starting pitcher or keep him as a reliever "is something that goes through our minds every meeting we have," manager Ozzie Guillen said. I like him in the pen as our new Brandon McCarthy. It's a nice learning curve for a young pitcher.
  11. I was actually thinking of starting one. There's been a bit of a void since soxcast shut down that not even Oral Sox can fill. THat being said i have no idea how to start or run a podcast so i'm glad to see someone stepping in for that.
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) Nix 3 run shot 15-3 I like Nix. He has a fantastic bunch of tools, if he can cut down on his K's, we've got a hell of a bargain on the bench.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) The player that MN can least afford to lose. Please, a closer is a lot easier to replace then Joe Maur or Justin Moreneu. Hell, i could even argue that Baker contributes more to the team then Nathan. He's a good-to-great pitcher, but he gives you 5 innings a week if you play your cards right.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) yeah, but you can argue mechanics/looking at durability are part of evaluating prospects, and with Wood there were red flags all over the place with that guy when it came to that area. They had the raw stuff and enough numbers to prove that they could have made something of themselves if they'd stayed healthy long enough. Wood and Prior are more about the chances they missed because of injury, then the potential they had. Because they met that potential, their arms just gave out on them early in the process.
  15. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) as i laughed, they just started piling up in my mind: guzman, prior, wood, hill, choi, patterson, pie lol Prior and Wood weren't overhyped. They were both very talented. Besides Prior and Wood were huge names before they were even drafted.
  16. QUOTE (beck72 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) Santos isn't the answer and needs more time to develop as a pitcher. I think it's a bit too soon to say that. One of the advantages of having a deep rotation and a kid like Hudson is that it gives you the chance to take a gamble on at least one spot for the pen. IF dealing Linebrink frees up money, or brings some small improvement to the team, then you do it. Especially, if Santos' newly found control is for real.
  17. I'm only getting sounds from the feed, no video. Hmm...
  18. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) Santos struck out the side in his one inning of the first s.t. game... giving up one hit in the process. Nice first outing. His breaking snuff has some great snap on it. This is incredibly encouraging for a fastball dominant pitcher.
  19. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) is he going to get a chance to make the team, or is there just one spot left? (nix vs lilli) ? and why the hell is lillibridge getting a chance to make this team? he cant hit to save his life Assuming we go with 12 pitchers, then Nixs' infield spot is the only one up for grabs. I don't see De Aza having any sort of chance barring massive organizational disaster.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 11:38 PM) For those, like me, without MLB network..... http://www.justin.tv/just4u1234#r=BSvYCfM~ Thanks for the link, man. Santos does look really good.
  21. Poor Padres fans have to wait a month to here how their team will lose 90 games.
  22. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) lol ok yes, he's significantly better than dwayne wise but you know...tallest midget and all... One midget is significantly taller and better at baseball then the other. Rios hit a wall last year, he'll recover. The last guy we gave up on over one bad year was Swish, how'd that work out for us?
