  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 01:24 PM) When a player takes steroids at a young age, its not always too difficult injuries will ensue Are we really doing this again? Mark Prior has never been linked to steroids. He has, however, been linked to an awful delivery and a tremendous workload.
  2. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) You guys have no clue what this offense is capable of. Wait we don't? And you do? Wow, you learn something new every day. Where have you been all my life? Screw, my opinions, screw the pundits, screw the stats, things are going to work out regardless, of whether it's likely or not. Your logic is flawless.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) I'd really prefer Beckham hitting lower in the order for more chances at knocking in runs... He’s hitting second, he’ll have the second most chance to drive in runs of anyone in the lineup. It’s not like this team’s going to be getting on-base at a spectacular rate for him anyway.
  4. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) I know him and Edwin Jackson are close. He also said yesterday that he is close with Fernando Rodney. So, you're saying he's close to a Diamondback and an Angel? That should serve him well with the Tigers.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) his plus defense at third? He's decent at third, he's miserable at SS.
  6. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) posts like this are starting to erk the hell out of me, i may just leave soxtalk till a couple weeks into the season ya know when were scorin runs and all you people wake up and smell the coffee. Go ahead. Chances are you won't be coming back till around the trade deadline.
  7. Can we kill this thread already? We're going nowehere, and Damon's not on the Sox.
  8. Nix averaged about 16’s homeruns per 542 Ab’s in the minors. His power isn’t out of the blue, and it’s pretty nice when you accompany it with his plus defense at 2nd and 3rd. I think he'll be a nice player for the bench until he's kicked off the team when we finally get a new DH.
  9. QUOTE (Ranger @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) That's not neccessarily true. Especially if another team were to have been involved. Ranger's right. It seemed that in almost every iteration the Halladay trade was a three-team deal. I don't see why this would be any different.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) do you have a mandate that suggexts you need to put "empirical" in all of your posts now? Empirically, speaking? No. But i do have a quota.
  11. QUOTE (joeynach @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Anyone else think its funny we are talking about being scared of two end of their career declining ballplayers. Not that they are not good players, but they are defiantly no where near the they were years ago. At this point they are minimal impact players, shadows of their former selves, what will their impacts really be this year? Heck Thome is resigned to a bench role. And there is no way Damon hits anywhere near 24 HR's out of that RF bandbox at Yankee Stadium. Accams Razor: simply put, aging declining players will play....like their aging and declining. Im not that worried. The difference is that Jones and Kotsay aren't declining. They've declined, they're shells of the players they once were. Any theory about Thome and Damon declining is conjecture and projection. Their's no daming empirical evidence that points to them being inadequate this year. Meanwhile, we have ample reason and empirical support to the belief that Kotsay and Jones aren't going to cut it.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) Or unless KW reads my email. You should try emailing Ozzie.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) Nix would have hit about 23 HR, and recent history shows that would have been an obvious power outburst from him, where Jones on the other hand has dropped 30-40 bombs consistently in his career. Only Nix is young enough to show this kind of upside, and Jones hasn't put up those numbers, with encouraging peripheral stats, in years.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) It could also make Hudson available for the right price in a big trade... The Padres being the most obvious choice here.
  15. I think i'm going to enjoy Mark Teahen this year. Can't wait to see him in-game.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Have we considered befriending an adolescent boy whose father told him he would return if the white sox won the pennant to be some sort of club house consultant? It may yield some benefits. Can the boy in question add any defensive versatility to the DH position?
  17. I'm happy that Nix gets to stay on the roster for the time being. I really think he could develop into a quality player off the bench.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) With our lack of pitching depth, if he has a good year he can easily be the #2 pitcher called up after Hudson... perhaps #3 if the sox like Torres alot as well. Would you put Marquez before or after Hynick? Now, that Ely is gone i think it's pretty fair to say that it's Hudson, Torres, Hynick, then Marquez.
  19. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) Alex Rios http://www.talk-sports.net/mlb/sucks.aspx/Alex_Rios That’s some pretty profound, analytical baseball discussion. You must love the comments sections for Youtube videos.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) http://twitter.com/cst_sox/status/9483514702 Hey Burls, stop playing the aw shucks card, and own it. You deserve it. If it's any consolation to Peavy i'm sure he'll get to DH at least once this year.
  21. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) worse, he screwed-up our team for the next three years... You wouldn't happen to be related to Jphat, would you? Do you hate Jayson Nix too?
  22. I’m currently making overtures to broadcast for my college baseball team. Broadcasting can be incredibly nerve-wracking, but it’s an exhilarating feeling when you hit a grove.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) I love you Greg. "'I love lamp. I love lamp."
  24. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) Thunderbolt, Jones hit 17 home runs in limited at-bats in Texas. If he had 500 at-bats, he whould've hit 25 homers easily. He would also have gotten on base at an abysmal rate. A rate that would have mitigated whatever upside that power brought.
