QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) I thought that a team giving up was supposed to be one of those things you'd prevent by having a crafty veteran like Kotsay in the dugout. Can you imagine how much worse we'd be if we didn't have a DH that played the field?

I'd love to see what kind of hitting coach Dave Martinez could bring along... -
QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:16 AM) THE ONLY CHANGE THAT IS GOING TO MATTER IS OWNERSHIP Oh, please. Reinsdorf is not the problem. He lives and dies for baseball, and has done everything possible to give KW enough room to build a decent team. If you were talking about the Bulls you might have a legit argument.

I'd kill for us to purge this team. I want to put this s*** behind us and let the Beckham/Rios era begin. -

Jesus, what the hell happened to this team? We're not even putting up a fight anymore. -
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Josh Hamilton's injury update (per Rotoworld): You have to think that all the s*** Hamilton has put his body through is going to keep coming back to haunt him.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) I think Rowand had some "help" and got himself a huge contract. Let's just say he's a different player these days... A lot of that could be just the abuse his body has taken from his style of play. I don't get the need to connect every drop in production with roids.

Assuming that this team scores at least 20 in the next 12 games (which honestly might be an actual assumption at this point) this team is on pace to either meet or slightly out-perform the run total i projected for it. Which means Walker probably got as much out of them this year as he could. I do agree that it's time for a change. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) Hopefully MRI comes back clean, and we shut him down for the season. If it's a severe shoulder issue, then Gavin has a very long road ahead of him. And so do the White Sox...

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) please win A part of me is kinda interested to see us go into the kind of tailspin that somebody has to take a fall for.

Who wants more Kenny and Ozzie drama? Well, here it is. Ozzie wants his boy Kotsay in the lineup and hates the lack of flexibility an actual DH saddles him with. “Kenny and Jerry [Reinsdorf] never get involved with my lineup,” Guillen said. “They never did and I don’t think they ever will. I hope not. You never know. But all of a sudden you don’t play Manny for three or four days and he’s healthy … we bring this guy here to play every day. [...] By bringing aboard Ramirez, Williams was essentially forcing Guillen’s hand with lineup decisions. Or at least that’s how Guillen seems to look at it. “In the meanwhile it’s hard for me to make the lineup every day because of that situation,” Guillen said about Ramirez’s presence. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...ausing-friction

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) People probably didn't mind it because they figured what we gave up wasn't anything special. Hell, at the time I wasn't that cool on it...i figured Teahen could hit 15 homers, steal 15 bases...15/15 with a .275 BA and decent ability to play several positions is NOT a player teams DONT need...but Teahen didn't even live up to those numbers. And his defense was brutal. I liked the Teahen deal. I still do. What i will never understand is that extension KW signed him to. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) But come on, we'll take a player who's fallen due to his salary demands!! Like that time we had the #18th pick in 2002 and chose Royce Ring over Denard Span who fell 13 spots due to salary demands. Right, right? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:21 AM) When/where was this? From everything I've heard, KW thinks Viciedo is a can't miss prospect...but Ozzie disagrees. "I don't think Viciedo is ready. That's my opinion," said Guillen of the 21-year-old Cuban. "To play in the big leagues? You see a good couple of at-bats here and there, but to get a good 500 at-bats, I would think about it. "He's still far away from being here, a year away or maybe two years away. I don't know how far away. Right now, I don't think he can perform every day. We have to wait and see in Spring Training how mature he is and how he comes back. It's good for him to taste a little bit of the big league level and how people do stuff here." http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_cws -
