  1. I'm made my feelings about this clear in other threads. Needless, to say i'm displeased with how this division race is going
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 05:25 PM) there's a Leprechaun coming up from AAA to be the LOOGy. We all figured that Lillibridge would have to make that transition to pitching eventually, anyway.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) I know it's a lot to have happen, but I can't bring myself to be angry any more. I am going to taunt NSS with his post a month ago insisting that Vizquel would never DH when it happens, that I promise to be angry about when it happens, but I'm sorta spent on this one. I’m very discouraged. I wrote all of the initial rotating DH talk off as posturing by Ozzie. Now, I’m buying into it and it scares the crap out of me. We’re wasting the best pitching staff we’ve had in years, on an experiment that nearly all-informed parties agree is going to be a disaster. I don’t want to watch a team that plays behind the Twins the entire year, because I shouldn’t have to, we should have the offense in place, we shouldn’t be holding anything back. Go for the f***ing jugular, KW, and don’t play Ozzie’s game. I used to be constantly frustrated with KW, and over the last two years he’s earned my trust back, but I don’t know what to make of this debacle. This screams of what happened with Wise, this screams of KW making Ozzie eat his words, and Sox fans shouldn’t have to watch a gaping hole that’s going to need to be filled sooner rather than later. A prediction: midseason we’re going to be giving up a handful of prospects for a bat, and all I’m going to say is, “s***, Thome could of come a lot cheaper. Branyan could have come a lot cheaper.” Somebody needs to come to their senses.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) So, instead of winning with players built for the Metrodome, they're instead stockpiling really good players and planning to win that way. I'd call that a good plan. I guess somebody in the division has to make active attempts at getting better. Do KW and Ozzie remember last year how even with our vastly superior pitching we lost the damn division on account of our offense? We've done literally nothing to improve on offense. We're counting on x-factors and lightning in a bottle. What KW has done is disassemble an offense that needed dismantling and replaced it with parts that appear destined to replicate the exact same meager offense as the one that came before it. We have no pop, no ability to get on base, we have a manager fixated on playing this team like an NL ballclub, and we have damn good reason to believe that one freaking move on the offensive end, would make this entire argument a wash. I’m incredibly frustrated right now.
  5. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) Looks like the twins about to lock up Orlando Hudson. Should we be worried? All sorts of yeah. This rotating DH theory of Ozzie's might just be the equivalent of divisional suicide.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Let's see how they do when they have to play baseball, instead of roller derby. I think the Hardy, Thome, and Hudson moves are an example that they're not comfortable relying on the Arena-Baseball mentality that carried them in the MetroDome. They're taking some great measures towards the future.
  7. Looks like the Hudson to the Twins deal is just about done. In other news, congrats go to the 2010 AL Central Champion Twins, either that or KW can get off his ass and make a damn move for a DH.
  8. The Mariners appear to be close to landing Bedard on a one-year deal. If this is true i think the division is theirs to lose.
  9. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 3, 2010 -> 10:27 AM) I think Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar need to kiss and make up. Than reform Uncle Tupelo. You should check this out. Jay Farrar and Ben Gibbard did the soundtrack for a movie about Jack Kerouac. It's called "One Fast Move or I'm Gone." It's actually really damn good.

    LOST!!!!

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) My guess is the same thing that happened to them on the island will happen to them in the "What If" timeline. it's going to be a pretty damn interesting day in downtown LA when that plane falls on Boone.

    LOST!!!!

That was some awful CGI. It was like an early 90's PS1 game.

    LOST!!!!

Watching the reacp. Yep, dropping a nuke into a hole is still absurd after all these months.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) OMG, tell me someone else just saw Gibson cross over then posterize Kaman. Wow. Oh, man. I was just going to post this. That was insane!!!

    LOST!!!!

God, i hope this season isn't as terrible as half of last season. What i wouldn't give to enjoy LOST on a consistent basis again.
  15. Huh, for a stats guy Keith Law sure seems to be ignoring every relevant stat in this discussion.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) The last line of the article says... "And no offense to Gordon Beckham, but no more songs by the Outfield." No offense to the Outfield, but i don't really think they have any more songs.
  17. I don't think J.J. should of had to make a change. Everyone knows that the White Soxs' new song is Your Love.

    Films Thread

QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:13 AM) Agreed on Avatar, but I'd also hate it if the Blind Side won. The book was awesome, but the movie looked like pure preachy trash. It's amazing how much they downplayed the fathers role in Michael Oher's life. Sean Tuohy was a nonfactor in the movie.
  19. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 10:17 AM) but no mets. so annoying. Figures, the only games i could easily get too.
  20. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:06 AM) Sounds like it was a cool contest, but the winner was chosen on January 28th. His new song is "The Razor's Edge" by AC/DC. Huh, well that's a buzzkill.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) It's because he lunges at every pitch. He's got a nice swing, but that's not going to fly in near future. It reminds me a bit of Utley's. And i never thought Utley's swing would cut it in the major leagues, so i've been wrong before.
  22. QUOTE (3E8 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) His swing looked like Ichiro's during that HR He generates some impressive power from his wrists.
  23. Signing Damon would make the Granderson deal all the more nonsensical. If the Valverde signing hasn't done that already.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) i think the last two wilco albums are the epitomy of sitting on your laurels. I think you can argue about the quality of Sky Blue Sky and Wilco (The Album), but i do think it's different enough from their previous works to be considered a departure or an evolution.
  25. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 08:17 AM) Yeah, another great album overall. First day I had it I listened to it a good 4 or 5 times in a row. Spoon really doesn't get enough credit for some of the innovative stuff they've been doing. I know that Wilco has been doing it to a much greater degree, but Spoon is another one of those bands that's not content to sit on its laurels. Gab Ga Ga Ga was a great album, and a lot of bands would have made it a formula. Spoon chose to go in another direction, I really respect that.
