  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) Great signing by the Tigers. A very solid closer for only $7 mil a year is pretty nice deal Their pen has some filthy arms in it.
  2. Peavy is a f***ing bulldog. I can't wait for this season to start.
  3. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) i saw on mlb rumors that eric byrnes might get released. anyone interested? None, not in the least.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) Is he still having horrible arm problems? ( I can't remember if it was shoulder or elbow) The major concern with Cabrera was just a horrible lack of control. I can't remember anything pressing with his arm other then some shoulder soreness.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Did you see Punch Drunk Love? I enjoyed that one. I adore that move. One of my top ten favorites.
  6. Damn, this thread looked a lot more compelling before i opened it.
  7. QUOTE (goblue5699 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Conor Jackson on the market? Nah, more like Eric Byrnes. Jackson can play left too, and Allen needs at least two more months at AAA.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) I don't think Ozzie wants Nix on the roster. He doesn't like him at all. i'm inclined to agree. As much as Nix does right, he does a hell of a lot of things wrong. He has potential, but the qualities he has are not qualties that Ozzie values. That being said, if he doesn't make this team he will be claimed on waivers. And he could very well play a big role for a team like the Padres or the Astros.
  9. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) He's very calm. I doubt he lacks passion, but he definitely doesn't lose his cool. I can imagine a scenario where has a spot on the big league staff when Cora finally gets a shot somewhere. Ever's doing a tremendous job for this organization.
  10. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) The Barons staff will also return for 2010... Article I think Ever Magallanes might be poised for great things in this organization.
  11. Just for forewarning when Ozzie starts Visquel at DH, I’m going to call for his head. I might not mean it in the long-term, but I’ll be pretty pissed off if it happens consistently.
  12. QUOTE (since56 @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Ozie has said it again and again. He doesn't want a set DH. He wants to manage his defense and his batting order game by game match ups and hot hands. He wants versatility and double switches. No lumbering base cloggers in the middle of the lineup. And that's a shockingly flawed approach when your best options are Andruw Jones, Omar Visquel, Mark Kotsay, Ramon Castro, and Jayson Nix. Only two of those guys (Jones, Kotsay) are feasible options. Only one of them (Jones) is somewhat a good one.
  13. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Is anybody else irritated that everyone talks about our pitching staff as though we have a reliable 5th starter? I feel a heck of a lot more comfortable knowing we have a guy like Hudson as our "just in case."
  14. I'm not slavish towards these projections, but i'm inclined to agree with us landing around where Bill James has us projected for next year. Which is 184 home runs. AJ-14, Konerko-29, Beckham-21, Teahen-13, Ramirez-18, Q-30, Rios-16, Pierre-1, Jones-22(adjusted from 11 for a full-time position)- Bench: Nix-8, Kotsay-3, Castro-8, Visquel-1 Interesting note: We hit 184 home runs last year too. Looks like we're on the right track.
  15. It's amazing how fast this thing escalated. I think Conan is well in his right to be royally pissed off. Leno has a history of doing backhanded things like this, and NBC has mismanaged both sides.
  16. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) just saw this and all i can say is wow.........lets pray nothing happens to AJ this season If something happens to AJ this season, then Flowers is our everyday catcher. You have nothing to worry about as far as Ramon Castro is concerned.
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) The Braves DFA'ed Brandon Jones. He's only 26, maybe worth a shot as a NRI or for AAA? He was a big prospect as recently as last year. I'd love to have him.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) We need to resign Big Jim Thome right now. Our lineup ain't good enough as it stands. Projections have us at 87 Wins with the lineup we have going. That's pretty damn good as is. I agree that another move is needed, but woe is not the White Sox.
  19. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Ugh, I don't even like to see that in writing. It's like we're already preparing ourselves for the inevitable outcome that he'll be starting for us. Honestly Milkman i'm doing exactly that. I don't want it to happen, but i can't help but think that it just might.
  20. I think we can win with Jones as our DH. I just don''t think we should have to chance it. There's no reason to have to gamble on lightning in a bottle for a position that we absolutely need results from. A gamble makes sense if we're talking CF, but we need power, and we need results.
  21. If Jones is our DH, i think Nix makes the 25-man. If we bring someone in from the outside, i think he'll be playing for another organization.
  22. I don't think the organization is inclined to put the future of the catching position in Josh Phegley's hands just yet. I don't buy the impending trade thought, and would have preferred Flowers on the bench in sort of a Backup QB-type deal.
  23. I'm not sure if this spells the end of Flowers. I think they want to put him in the position to get more AB's at AAA.
