  1. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) I beat you to it. One day I’ll scoop you. Of course that’ll be to a story that I found somewhere on the intent that’s somebody’s already covered. But I’ll hold it over your head just the same.
  2. According to Baseball America the Sox have re-signed Josh Kroeger. Hopefully, he'll get some play come spring before heading to AAA.
  3. I was hoping that this news could bring a stop to Larussa's insane defense of the man, but it's not looking likely.
  4. Didn't he go to a JUCO in Nevada? I don't think he's as clear cut a #1 as he was six months ago, but i'd still put money on him being a Nat come draft time.
  5. Branyan has MASSIVE pop, but he would be hated here for his K's.
  6. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) What I'm hearing is maybe cocaine, not likely marijuana. Yikes. Hardcore s***.
  7. Honestly, i wouldn't be suprised if it was steroids. He's been bouncing around the minors for a decade, a long way to fall from a #1-round pick.
  8. I've seen some good centerfielders struggle to adjust in CF at Kaufmann. The dimensions are a bit odd, and it doesn't help to have Jose Guillen to the right of you. This could potentially be a disaster defensively for the Royals. They'd be better off switching Dejesus to CF.
  9. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Ugh. The very fact that the White Sox would be another option for his services automatically raises Pods' value. And in any event, Pierre is better and healthier than Pods. I don't see how having Pods would suddenly make them better than "one of the worst offenses in the majors." We're projected for 87 wins and 182 HR's even with Jones as our DH. So, throw that worst offense thing out the window. We do need a upgrade, the kind of upgrade that Pods can't provide.
  10. I have 3 White Sox jerseys. A Beckham one, A Swish one (Sue Me), and a Scotty Pods one. I bought the Pods one at the Cell 15 minutes before Game 2 of the World Series. It's a bit of coincidence that I won't ever forget. I love Pods, He just frustrates the hell out of me.
  11. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) I will never understand the hate that some Sox fans held towards Pods. Do you have game tape of that extra-inning affair in Seattle that Griffey won on a walk-off single?
  12. This is an absolute b**** move by NBC and Leno. If i was Conan i'd try to take my money and run.
  13. I really would like to see Fields win the DH job. I don't want his choosing of baseball over football to be something that he regrets for the rest of his life. Even if he was a backup or a third string QB that might be a better existence then 6 months in AAA Omaha.
  14. For all the people who thought the Royals were acting more competently than in previous offseasons… look no further then this offseason. This White Sox 2.0 thing should be a blast to watch.
  15. Sounds like Vlad has been offered a contract by the Rangers. Thome's looking more probable by the minute.
  16. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) About 70 pages into The Blind Side right now. Figured I might as well read it since I went to a rival high school of Michael Oher's and know a bit about the story already. Plus, I saw the movie a few weeks ago. Hell of a book. Michael Lewis is a talented writer.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) Hudson would be in the rotation ahead of Chapman. I would give Chapman a solid chance at being the second lefty in our pen. But yeah, not a fan of the proposal in question.
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) Nah, he's at least 5'11". I really do think that's a touch too small for a 1b. Especially, given Alexei's propensity to either throw the ball in the dirt or a mile over Konerko's head.
  19. The guy was touted as the "Cuban Babe Ruth" not the "Cuban Brooks Robinson " A position switch was inevitable, i just thought (given his size) it would be to the OF.
  20. David Holmberg came in at #8 on Baseball America's Top Ten White Sox prospects list. This appears to be something of a trend as Holmberg potential coupled with the weak depth of our system makes him an ideal candidate to fall behind the premier offensive talent we have at the top half of our minor league organization.
  21. Seattle’s desperately needs another arm. Maybe even two. I don’t think you can go into the season counting on Fister, Snell or Petit to produce. Honestly, if they’re willing to gamble on at least two spots in their rotation I’d offer Sheets and Mulder money and hope for a reclamation.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 02:52 AM) So what you're trying to say is that Kroeger's .267/.319/.423/.742 line in AAA last year as a 26 year old in his 5th year at AAA doesn't scream future superstar? Since when does the term "do some good somewhere" imply superstardom? I never said he’d be great, I never said he had a place on this team, but stranger things have happened then a guy who was once a well-thought of prospect managing to get his career back on track if given a shot at the Major League Level.
  23. I really like how the Mariners run their team.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) I still wouldn't count out Marquez either, depending on what they've done to get him healthy. The stuff i've heard about his elbow bothers me, but his sinker really sounded like nice when he first came to this organization. Hopefully, he'll turn it around.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) Google it. Wow, really? Seems to be like all the proof i need is right there. I'm also immersed in Yankees news out here almost daily, (i get ESPN 1050, The YES Network, the Local Papers) and i can't seem to recall Swish truly waning at all (outside of a few slumps) EXCEPT in the playoffs. So, yeah. I don't think i'll be googling it.
