  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) Personally, I'm an average guy. If you hit 30hr and have a .240 BA, you're worthless to me. Well, that's all sorts of flawed.
  2. Ethier and Quentin in the same outfield would be insane. They're practically the same dude.
  3. He's a bit out of our price zone at this point. The Royals were smart to grab Arguelles while the going was good.
  4. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) I gotta say over the years being here there are certain people that you can trust as far as whitesox happenings and I trust my guys running soxnet cause they wont say something just to throw s*** and see what sticks. That just isnt their style and they operate with a lot more professionalism than that. That’s what pissed me off so much about the Cowley thing. I guess I’m a little defensive, but I trust all the guys over here. And for Cowley to do what he did publically really set me off.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) I'd like to confirm that I heard the same thing, just sayin.. I love it when you tease me, Rock.
  6. I also see two spots open on the roster, just not the ones you see. I want a DH, preferably a 40+ HR Guy, and i want a lefty power-arm. Note: Not Randy Williams.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) I dont see that happening either. I would bet between Rios/Teahen/Ramirez they combine for 5-10 more HR's than James predicts though. Something to note is that James predicts Jones to have 11 homeruns in about 206 AB’s. I simply averaged that with Jones’ career average in homeruns per 162 games (33) to adjust for playing time
  8. Here’s how Bill James has us pegged for homeruns next year. Note: I don’t think Nix will be on the 25 man nor will Jones be a starter, and James tends to over predict. Not an exact assessment, but an assessment just the same. James has us landing around 188 homeruns. AJ-14, Konerko-29, Beckham-21, Teahen-13, Ramirez-18, Q-30, Rios-16, Pierre-1, Jones-22(adjusted for playing time)- Bench: Nix-8, Kotsay-3, Flowers-12, Visquel-1
  9. Only Ely and Link? And they're paying half the salary? I like that a lot.
  10. As long as we don't give up Hudson, Hynick or Santos and Pierre is in LF, i'll cool off about the move. I don't think he's an ideal option, i think Pierre has some tremendous holes in his game, he fits a need though, and i understand the thought behind it. Now, get me a lefty-power bat and a lefty-power arm.
  11. Son of a b****. I'm happy that the Dodgers are taking the salary, but we just replaced Pods with Pods. What happened to our new defensive philosophy? What about our need for power?
  12. I'm a huge proponent of both Upton and Johnson being on this team, but i don't think that the exact package that we'd offer for Gonzalez is necessary. Instead, i'd offer Flowers + Hudson. If they ask for more i'd give them Morel or Ely, but demand salary considerations.
  13. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:56 PM) Rosenthal had this scenario a couple days ago. His "hypothetical" had a 3rd team involved to get Lee. Whoa, your post is gone...but preserved forever. You keep beating me to the delete, dude. This is awesome.
  14. Vlad has no tissue left in his knee. If you people thought Thome clogged the bases, wait till you see him try to move.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) I think I'm more worried that the organization is just dying to get Kotsay at bats. I'd wager that Andruw Jones is the more likely party at this point.
  16. Correct me if i'm wrong, but Glaus' shoulder has to be hanging on a thread by now, doesn't it?
  17. We're early in the game, folks. Who cares if Matsui gets signed, it's a minor setback in the greater scheme of things. So, cool your jets, and repeat after me. "In Kenny, i trust," because i know i do, and i don't see the percentage in not being able to.
  18. Bohn's numbers are pretty decent in the minors. Seems like a guy who could have gotten a decent job in the majors if he was a lefty. As it turns out, he'll be perfect filler to stash in AAA. Not a big Bynum guy. He's got some tools, but no brains.
  19. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) I believe my comment was Getz > Gardner. Even if this was your main contention it doesn't stop this opinion from being blatantly false.
  20. I've been reading some more of DJ's comments, and you know, i think this is best for both sides. DJ seems like a really, classy guy. He's well aware that his time in Chicago saved his career, and he appreciates that, but he wants to pitch a lot more then we could ever let him. I hope everything works out for him, and i can't wait to see the young arm that gets to take his place in the pen.
  21. QUOTE (2OutRally @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) Via Scott Merkin's twitter: Carrasco will pursue a team that gives him an opportunity to become a starting pitcher again, first and foremost. From Carrasco: "You want to be in a place where you are wanted and needed. The White Sox probably still wanted me but didn’t need me." That's an interesting quote about Carrasco. Not sure why it rubs me slightly the wrong way, but the best of luck to him in the future.
  22. QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) He is basically Gardner without the stolen bases but with a better arm. So, basically he's not Gardner. Gardner speed is a pretty big factor in this.
  23. I was thinking of changing my name to Your Love, but i kind of like Thunderbolt. If you want it, it's yours.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Sweet. That gives us one team Alex Rios or Gordon Beckham can run on! Fixed. For Now.
  25. Ok, DA. If Chris Getz has a better year then Mark Teahen in 2010, i will change my username to GetzLover69 for the entire offseason. You can quote me on that. Teahen has something that Chris Getz doesn't. Namely, a world of unrealized potential. Getz was pretty much polished coming out of college, Teahen's been a scout's wet dream for half-a-dozen years running. I think that the potential in him is worth missing out Chris Getz and DJ Carrasco.
