  1. This doesn't make a world of sense to me, except on financially feasbile terms, but in KW i trust. Bring on the Hudson era, hell, bring on the Sergio Santos era.
  2. If the Yankees get Matsui back, I think I’d give some legitimate thought to immediately offering Linebrink for Bradley and cash. I realize the guy's attitude needs a HUGE adjustment, but my god, he fits about every need we have on this team, and the guy can hit. He’s a son of a b****, but that’s not a foreign concept in Chicago. Maybe, he’ll find an environment worth playing for here, maybe not, regardless, I’m game to try. The Cubs are going to panic soon. The Burell talks have fallen through, interest for him is dying out, we can capitalize in a major way here.
  3. It might be interesting to open up a spot in the pen for spring and have Omogrosso, Torres, Hynick, and Santos go at it, but really i hope we can keep Carrasco.
  4. I like this move so much i want to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) You're misinterpreting everything I'm posting. This is what I had a problem with: I'm not sure i see it. Yeah, our first exchange was a tad unclear, but the rest has been a pretty, logical back and forth. You said, that Gardner sounded a lot like Juan Pierre. I accepted the surface similarities, but instead chose to focus on Gardner's exceptional defense, and pretty modest ability to get on base for a man of his skill set. Obviously, yeah the issue is whether Gardner can hit to the gaps. because that's what the thought was on Pierre. In reality, nothing can be made of this till we try it, and honestly, i don't think it hurts us to try.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Cool, but when it's 6 outfielders from a 6 team league that's not very selective is it? That's a pretty good crop of OF's though.
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 11:33 PM) Apparently great defense and an elite arm from a corner outfielder is worthless. I don't see any use in arguing your point, Kalapse, because i'm inclined to say i agree with you. Players like Gardner trouble me, because their main skill sets is there legs, and speed can kill a team when it's misused. I just think that as a fairly, cheap left-handed option, he might be able to find a decent place here. I'm not saying it's a done deal, hell, generally, i hate players with Gardners skillset, but even i can't deny that, that defense can have a huge impact on his team. Especially, coupled with his ability to get on base, at a decent rate.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) I was thinking Carlos Gomez when I first saw that quote personally. That's actually a decent comparison. I like Gardner, and i think he'll hit for a better average then Gomez, but there is a chance that he realll could be that guy who you live with on offense, because of his defense.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) What does that have to do with top rate speed leading to increased extra base hits? It means he's not the the same player as Juan Pierre. If you want pertinent offensive stats look at their OBP's. Gardner has shown the ability to get on base, even though he's young, he has shown some very encouraging signs in that department. He more then makes up for his lacking power skills with his speed and defense.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) Just like Juan Pierre. He's a much better defender then Pierre. He's absurdly good in the field.
  11. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 09:57 PM) I like alot of things about him, but I worry about his lack of extra base hits. The Kid is one of the fasted runners in the game. He can make an extra base hit out of anything. Assuming we teach him to hit to the gaps, he'll be fine.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Would you trade Morel for Gardner. With the Teahen deal and Viciedo in the wings. Yeah, i think i would.
  13. I like Gardner as a player. Great speed, steller D, but i'm not sure he's a need here. I'd like to have a touch more power in the OF, but he would solve a lot of problems. Lead off, defense, lefty bat... you know what? f*** it. Bring him in.
  14. I'd put the best arms in the best positions to make the team better. I see no need to make Brinkey pitch in crucial sitiuations until he earns it again. Personally, i love the idea of throwing Dan Hudson into the fire. It might help to show what he's made of.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) If Putz is signed, what would his role be in the bullpen? Here's what i'd do: LR: Linebrink LR: Pena Mr: Hudson Mr: Carrasco SU: Thornton SU: Putz CL: Jenks I imagine, however, Hudson will be LR and Pena will be MR:
  16. I want the crap out of this guy. For a Coop can Fix 'em type deal, he's got insane stuff. I always compared him to Carlos Marmol, unhittable without a lick of control.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) we always do this, huh. Yeah... when was the last time you can remember picking up a guy in the draft, and keeping him on the 25-man? I seem to remember a long history of passing.
  18. We always do this. There were actually some decent arms out their too this year.
  19. i love the Harden signing for the Rangers. if Feliz and Holland establish themselves in that rotation they'll be filthy together.
  20. I wish someting other then conjecture would be floating around about the Sox, right now. but as we know KW always works in under the radar.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) I would love an off-season in which we signed Byrd and Matsui. I'd be fully content with that. Call me a greedy bastard, but i want Putz too.
  22. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Dec 8, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) exactly. sure i would take him but i dont like the idea of trading prospects(danks, viciedo, flowers, hudson, etc etc) for him as if he were some proven bat. yea he has the tools but who knows,he might never get it together, ill pass Upton has proven he can do great things at the major league level. He's not some amatuer. He's just a guy with a world of talent, and a wooly work ethic coming off an injury.
  23. For those of you wondering if having a college snow day the week before finals is a good thing, it looks like we're about to find out.
  24. I'm all sorts of a a fan on this move.
