  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) Floyd is the #4 starting pitcher. I suspect he's #3. I'd put Buehrle at two and Ozzie doesn't slot back to back LHP's. Peavy Buehrle Floyd Danks Garcia.
  2. I'll take Kroeger back. He's a bit more versatile then Restovich, despite Restovich having the better year.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) I still think MLB Pitching will absolutely eat him alive if he can't cut down on the strikeouts. Oh, god yeah. If he makes the 25-man, he sure as hell better be on the bench. He really does remind me (and his brother too) of an early Alexis Rios. A very, lanky defensive oriented OF whose loopy swing suggests both plus-power potential and a bucket-load of K's.
  4. Mike (sigh) Scioscia continues his journey to become the most over-regarded manager in the history of the game. I don't think he's terrible, i just despise a lot of what his approach to the game entails. He did, however, improve this year.
  5. Alomar has a great nose for the game. Good luck to him. As long as that luck doesn't beat the White Sox.
  6. I really thought Danksy might have to repeat AA. Now, i'm starting to think that AAA might be more likely. I'm not 100% on this, but i wouldn't rule out a Beckham like path here. Maybe two months at AA, and then a steady progression.
  7. Alright, let’s throw out some more potential packages. Let’s get in-depth. How realistic is this? Is this too much? Trade Konerko and cash for Wood Hudson, Viciedo, Retherford, Wood, Shelby, Ely for Adrian Gonzalez. Are Shelby and Ely merely superfluous here? Can our system compensate for the loss of 4 of our top 15 prospects (according to Baseball Prospectus)? Would we be more comfotable swapping Morel in for Retherford or would that devastate our 3b depth? Personally, I think we could stand to lose these guys if it means getting Gonzalez. I just don't know how likely it would be.
  8. Trading Flowers means that the pressure is turned on Phegley in a big way. The issue here is that do we think Phegley will be ready in two years? He's certainly not ready now, and he's far from a sure thing. So, we trade Flowers and where are we? Are we comfortable with being left with the Cole Armstrong's and the Donny Lucy's of the world? We finally have the next big thing, why let it go to waste?

QUOTE (AssHatSoxFan @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) go watch Hard Eight I'm actually working on tracking that down. It's proving suprisingly difficult for some reason.
  10. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) Sorry why does "Cowleotti's" last name get parsed and turned into Cowleotti? A pun on words? Cowleotti + Hineybird. Yeah, i don't like it much either. Edit: Wow, i didn't realize that word was an autocorrect. That's f***ing awesome!
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) It's all for fun and games, but that payroll would be somewhere around $110+ mill. And further, if you are going to include that much for Adrian Gonzalez, you may as well either get Bell chipped in or give up one more prospect to get him. I tried to free up cap by trading Bobby, and realized i couldn't do it and get anything substantial in return without giving up Danks and panicked.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Then maybe somebody that writes for Sox Net should call B&B and educate them. This to the max. Would anyone feel comfortable doing this? I know a lot of the bulls podcasters call into B&B all the time, might as well make our side of this thing known.
  13. Trade Konerko and cash for Wood Hudson, Viciedo, Retherford, Wood, Shelby, Ely for Adrian Gonzalez. Sign Aroldis Chapman, Leslie Anderson Sign Nick Johnson Trade Linebrink for Bradley Offer Dotel Arb. Batting order: Rios, Beckham, Quentin, Gonzalez, Bradley, Johnson, Pierzynski, Ramirez, Teahen Bench Kotsay, Nix, Flowers, Anderson Rotation: Peavy, Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, Garcia Bullpen: Dotel, Pena, Nunez, Carrasco, Chapman,Thornton, Jenks
  14. David Holmberg was just ranked number #10 in Baseball Prospectus’ list of Top Ten White Sox prospects. Hopefully, the first of many such distinctions,
  15. I like AJ, because he's the most fundamentally sound player on this team, but there's no doubt that he's a massive dick, and there's also very little doubt that he's probably very concerned about his well being as a player. I have no doubt he isn't very pleased at the inevitable passing of the torch, but he's a professional. He'll man up.
  16. Maybe we can arrange a beer summit, so these two can talk it out? Or, hell maybe next time we should just have a dance off?
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) SoxNet Responds to Cowley's Attacks Are you a Next Generation fan, Chisoxfn, or an Enterprise guy? Depending on your answer i have lost a lot of respect for you as both a human being and as a source.
  18. I find our fan bases (not Soxtalk) inability to grasp that GM’s talk all manner of trades all the time, rather unbearable. Hell, Jim from Soxmachine (a guys whose opinions I really do respect.) basically writes off the rumor without even offering analysis. The problem here is that no one is doing their jobs. Offer some form of counter opinion, tell me why you don't find the rumor plausible, becasue if you don't your thought is just as invalid as you claim Soxnets to be. Don't write something off just because it's easier to do it that way.
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) Cowley has a big time attitude. Napoleon complex, I guess. He has this with both the fans and the players. At least he’s consistent. He even has the balls to show up in the clubhouse which is a lot more then Hineybird could ever do
  20. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) someone go metioned cowley how his steelers got swept by cinci and see what he has to say Hell, all you have to do is say the words Swisher and ring, and he'll have a seizure.
  21. Ideally, he'll take it like a man and start paving the way for Flowers to take over. If not, he won't be on the team much longer.
  22. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/...lex-issues.html Did new GM Hoyer work for the Padres under Kevin Towers? Nope, under Epstein in Boston. The Padres had a four man brain trust in charge of their organization. Sandy Alderson, Kevin Towers, Paul Depodesta, and Grady Fuston. The only one remaining now is Depo.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) why would the angels want konerko? dh? Morales always struck me as similiar in both origin and skill-set to Dayan Viciedo. Like Dayan, Morales is a guy that was thought to be moved off position and into the outfield at some point. So, yeah PK can either play 1st or DH.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) I guess I'm the one person in Soxdom that despises giving up Paulie. Seriously, is there anything that the Angels can toss in that we can't match from our own system? Plus, Paulie would be a darn good DH, since he'd stay healthy, I could see him hitting .280, 30 HR, 100 RBI's easy as a full time DH. If theres anyway to cut out the Angels, do it Kenny. Keep Paulie. (Note: Bias coming from fact I'm wearing my Paulie shirt) Paulie is about done though. Anything value we can get from him at this point needs to be taken. Especially, if trading him is the means to the incredible end that is A-Gone.
  25. Gaslamp Ball is rather bullish on the legitimacy of the Sox.net sources. If only they knew.. http://www.gaslampball.com/2009/11/16/1159...ee-way#comments
