  1. I'd wager Sheets is going to Texas. It seems like the popular theory and it makes logistical sense.
  2. QUOTE (almagest @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) I was just thinking about that Padres offense without Adrian Gonzalez. That team is going to be unwatchable. Depends who the Sox and Angels send to the Padres, doesn't it? A team with Hudson, Viciedo, Brandon Wood, Gwynn Jr, Banks, Cabrera, Headley, Latos, Poreda and Richard might be fun to watch
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) Are you talking the Cuban Chapman here? Yep, unlikely i'll admit, but so is Adrian Gonzalez being a White Sox.
  4. Screw the ROY. Beckham has bigger awards ahead of him.
  5. I'd like to keep Danksy and Flowers, but beggers can't be choosers. Especially, when we're begging for Adrian Gonzalez. That man can carry our franchise for the next decade.
  6. QUOTE (striker62704 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 01:27 PM) Think Konerko would waive his no-trade clause? Have you ever been to Anaheim? He's probably already bought himself a time share and his kids a couple tickets to disney.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) This could free up 7 million to get a bullpen guy and maybe another OF. Signing Chapman to be our second lefty and to step into the 5 starter role after Fat Freddy is gone would be the ultimate coup. Hell, sign Leslie Anderson too and we might as well close up shop for the offseason.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) I am sure nothing will be done soon if this is a three way deal. Agreed, the sheer amount of paperwork alone that these kinds of things take is staggering. I like this a lot, because a third team being involved along with Paulie means we might not get raped here.

Anyone else a big P.T. Anderson fan? I saw Boogie Nights for the first time last night which cemented him for me as one of the better directors working today. If that wasn't already clear from There will Be Blood, Punch Drunk Love, and Magnolia.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) I'm with you. If we had adrian gonzalez it would make our team a lot more fun in baseball video games next year, at the very least. Not true. Adrian was terrible in MVP 2005. I can hardly win 75 games with these guys as is.
  11. I think Brett Anderson is clearly the most deserving candidate of the Rookie class, but I want Beckham to win.
  12. By all means bring him in then. Anderson's a great player.
  13. Uconn's men debut against William & Mary was a pretty entertaining game to be at.W & M kept it pretty close. They have some great 3 point shooting on that team.
  14. So the drama group up here at school is doing a performance of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along blog. Thought that was rather cool.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 13, 2009 -> 12:56 AM) I was referring to TBolt's "incite." I fixed it, you bastard! You happy?
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 14, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) Ely will probably be in the mix as well if he pitches as well in AAA like he did in AA. I'd say after Hudson, Hynick, and Torres, Ely is 4th in line of spot-starter guys. He's a very good arm, hopefully, he keeps giving us encouraging signs.
  17. If i was the Nats i'd sign Prior to a minor league deal. Couldn't hurt to have him offering some ADVICE to Strasburg.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 12:10 AM) Yeah, Hynick actually looks like he maybe able to offer us something. He had some really solid numbers in Colorado Springs last year, if I recall correctly. I like Hynick too. I wouldn't write him off, has a decent pedigree and some good results in a bad pitching enviroment. He's probably our closest minor league pitcher at this point now that Hudson has graduated.
  19. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Nov 12, 2009 -> 11:13 AM) SD is not going to want Viciedo. They have Headley as their future 3B and Blanks at 1B. Not to mention Viciedo is currently a train wreck at 3B with a move to 1B/DH a distinct possibility. I think Blanks, Headley, Gywnn JR, and Cabrera are the only kids that the Padres are really invested in for the long-term. That leaves left and right field for Viciedo. It seems plausible that it could work.
  20. Add Kevin Dubler to your list. Very bad results, but great promise. I'd wager that Phegley's two years away at the least, with Gonzalez coming in at about 3 years.
  21. Fox put the axe to Dollhouse. Damn shame too.
  22. Why don't we trade Paulie for pieces that could facilitate a trade for A-Gone?
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) I would do that deal. You could have Pelfrey as a back-up plan as a starter and probably use him out of the pen. Pelfrey's sinker is the real deal too. He pitches a bit too much to contact for my liking.
  24. I wanted to be a fire truck when i was really little. That uh.... didn't work out.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 11, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) I've seen you use this phrase more than once. Firefly fan, I assume? Absolutely. I’m in the process of converting one of my friends to it now, so it’s pretty ingrained in my lexicon at this point.
