  1. I'm also a fan of getting Homer Bailey, which opens up trading Hudson and Danks or Floyd for a big bat.
  2. Guys, if we could land A Gone for Hudson, Retherford, Morel, Shelby, Ely, Torres and Hynick, i'd say shiny and go about our merry, but Danks, Viciedo, Flowers, and Hudson? A-Gone is a special player, but i don't really know how i feel about desecrating our farm system for him. I'm conflicted. A-Gone is the player that you do that for, but still.... i think i'm just too attached to some of the minor league kids.
  3. The better mark might be Brandon Phillips. He's flown under the radar a bit, but he's a very, good player.
  4. I don't think chemistry is all that important, but all word is that Teahen is actually a really cool guy. Big in the community, very outgoing. He'll fit well here.
  5. Scotty Pods is not a major-league DH. Nothing good can come of that.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Out of curiousity, how much of Jordan Danks have people actually seen that are saying if he is ready or not? I imagine a lot of it is just conjecture from what the organization says about him. The numbers don't lie, Danks could use another years in the minors. Preferably, in AA too. I just think if other moves need to be placed before that spot in the OF, we could do a lot worse then throwing Danksy out there, and hoping like hell he swims instead of sinks.
  7. If we could get Chapman for the pen (one year thing, starter next year), and if we could get a legitimate-DH/1B (I’m talking Dunn-esque or Gonzalez) I would take Jordan Danks in our outfield. He’s not the best option, but I don’t think it would be a complete disaster, and if our financial priorities need to be focused elsewhere then so be it.
  8. De Aza has about as much a chance of making the starting lineup as i do. Then again i am a wishful thinker...
  9. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 11:52 AM) Paulie + his contract If anything it gives KW flexibility in terms of payroll. I'd still prefer a better return for PK. Certainly, if dumping his money could assure a lateral move, i'd get on board, i'm just not sure it would.
  10. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) That trade is only unlikely because it would be one of Kenny's biggest steals in his history as a general manager. A more accurate deal would be Paulie to the Mets for basically nothing, or Paulie + cash to the Mets for Murphy. Clearing $12M off the payroll while adding that much talent in return for a player like Paulie is a pipedream. I think your opinion of Murphy is a bit too high. I've seen the kid play quite a bit, looked at the metrics, he has no pop at all. He's got a decent approach at the plate, and his glove won't kill you, but he's not worthy Paulie. Martinez, however, with his upside likely is.
  11. The rational part of my mind tells me that Danks needs to stay in the minors for another year, but the prospect whore part of me wants him their opening day. I think we might be able to afford that gamble assuming we can get some legitimate pop for the DH.
  12. I think i'm going to make an earnest effort at getting McCulloch's autograph this spring. My Broadway efforts were a spectacular failure last year, and i figure i might as well give it another go. Oh, Kyle if only you were a lefty, you might have an undeserved, but serious chance of making this team.
  13. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) It would be more like A) Move Beckham to 2B, because Beckham is by far the most important player in the conversation B) Get Teahen C) Try to trade Josh Fields before we have to DFA him anyway prior to the Rule-5 draft Don't forget step D) Profit!
  14. Dodgers are out of the race. Can't help, but attribute this to a bidding war and the McCourts divorce.
  15. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) I think it's purpose was that someone would actually accept Josh Fields. Agreed, not to say that Getz was a non-factor in this, just that he was more of a means to an end here. I think the three step process was A) Get Mark Teahen B) Trade Josh Fields C) Get Beckham to 2b.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) I have to wonder why the Royals havent given him a shot yet, there has to be something to it Simple ignorance was the bext explanaation. They had no reason to bring in Mike Jacobs, when they already had Kala, Butler, Gordon, and Teahen in their system. Not to mentioon have just drafted what was supposed to be a fast rising Eric Hosmer, and declaring that their stated goal was OPB.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) Then again, Lillibridge had far-and-away the best batting music, so... Beckham?
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) im gonna say you dont give the kid a nickname until he proves himself at the major league level. Are you saing Kenny "The Titan of Awesomeness" Williams JR is a bit too soon?"
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) It just makes no sense to move Beckham to second for Mark Teahen. They're not moving Beckham to 2b for Teahen. They're moving Beckham to 2b because it's the right thing to do for the kid, and the organization.
  20. A part of me wonders how Lovie leaves the field tonight with a job.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) I think he has had very little impact on the talent level improving. Until the Sox start calling up guys with a little consistency that have a clue as to what they are doing, I'm holding out buying something just because Buddy said its so. Beckham, Hudson and Flowers is a very, good start. I get why you're skeptical, but really look at some of the "talent" on some of the teams that Bell had to manage. You could make an argument that Todd Van Poppel was one of his best arms!
  22. You can't argue with results, DA. Buddy Bell has played a pretty fundamental part in this organization since his hiring, and his focus (the minor league system) has only gotten better since he's gotten here. Sometimes you got to call a spade a spade. Buddy Bell has only helped out system improve.
  23. I'd like to wait the Royals out on Alex Gordon. Seems like an ideal buy-low guy if he another bad year under his belt.
