  1. While i find Rosenbloom's comparison of Teahen to AJ adorable, it is also way off base. I'm still not sure we're never going to recover from trading Chris Getz of all people. If the trade doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. I won't think for a minute that it never should have been made.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 02:05 AM) My gosh, Bolt. If you lived in Kansas City you'd be mocked for your comments on Mark. He is considered kind of a joke around here. Not a good fielder; strikes out a ton. The excuse you could make (which would be an excuse) is he got moved around too much, no good players around him blah blah blah. We can hope, but this is not like we've acquired anybody good. It was basically us trading average to below average talent to the Royals for average to below average talent. Both sides hoping lightning will strike. To Teahen's credit, he is regarded as a guy who plays hard and when hurt and is good with media and teammates. Seeing as the only KC figure i really have all that much of a respect for is Joe Posnaski, i have no problem with being mocked. KW sees something in Teahen that a lot of other GM's have seen before, and have tried to exploit. The fact that he only had to give up Getz and Fields to get it is an added bonus.
  3. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 02:28 AM) Not gonna lie, I hated it when we drafted him. But since that day he has become my favorite player on the team probably. I love Joakim. I did too. Hell, i hated him in college. I thought he was a punk. He's grown since then, i never thought he be showing the potential that he is now.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) jorDANks? Thoughts? For you slower peoples, it's Jordan and Danks in the same name..... Back to the drawing board, you nickname savant.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) My god, I love Joakim Noah. He's incredibly impressive, isn't he? He's one of those guys who has the talk and the skills to back the talk up. He's going to be with us for a long time.
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) Troubling things here: The pkrase of the day in Sox management has switched fro "under the radar" to "you have to look at the projection" and "their profile" Plus here we go again about how much the Sox have valued a player from anothet team for several years. Addiiotnally now we are hearing there is "no money available" Mark Teahen has been coveted by multiple organizations for years. The fact is: he has the skill set, he has the projectable size, the indicators for future gains are their. The results are not, this is KW making an investment in someone with tremendous upside. I see no problem with that.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) I think if anything, he's just bummed about replacing his two best friends on the team. First it was Fields and now Getz. I was a bit suprised to find out that A.J wasn't his best friend on the team. I guess this makes sense, becasue Fields and Getz are closer to Beckham in age.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) I was expecting at least 30 homers from Swisher and fantasy predictions had him at around 32 from what I remember. I’d point out that Swisher still hit 24 homeruns in limited AB’s (for him) in a year that proved to be a statistical aberration the very next year after, but I don’t want to be caught in the s*** storm this argument would inevitably create. Instead, I’ll not my head, and move on.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) Well, more importantly he's won a Fielding Bible award as well as finishing 2nd and 5th. Dewan has one of the better metrics around. If he says Rios is a good fielder, i'm going to assume he's a good fielder.
  10. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) Ne he's not. He makes a very reasonable point and then backs it up satisfactorily with statistics. It was a joke.... but okay. I like Cameron, i see his logic here, it doesn't make up for the sheer absurdity of some of his opinions.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) Royals fans love the deal as well BTW. I'd say it could be a nice deal for both sides when it's all said and done. I don't think the trade has much of an impact for them this year. Both of their guys are going to the bench.
  12. it's true. Buddy Bell was very public in his statements that Danksy was ready even prior to going down with his wrist injury last year. Personally, i'd have him repeat AA.
  13. Cowley was bouncing around the Jenks and Danks for Carl Crawford thing. I'm still not buying it.
  14. David Cameron's just pissed off that now we have no need to trade Danks for JOSE LOPEZ, JUSTIN VARGAS, and MARK LOWE.
  15. I know this is irrational but i still haven't really forgiven Pods for that Mariners game where got picked off. I just feel like we invested so much in that game, and for Pods to screw up that badly, it just left a bad taste in my mouth.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) Wow, JorDanks is in the mix for the big club? Wow. Our OF defense would be alot better with him in CF and Rios in RF. Im not so sure about having him lead off though. Buddy Bell thought he was ready before his wrist injury las year. It's very possible that this organization is far higher on Danksy 2 then even any of us on this board.
  17. QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:17 PM) Hawk will be CRUSHED!!!! And thank God we won't have to hear anymore Gomez pie-licking on air!!!! Yeah. it's Spans' turn now
  18. Keep in mind, that Teahen was projected by a plurality of scouts as a 35-homer guy. It's pretty clear now that he's not going to reach that, but the skillset remains. His propensity for doubles is a clear indicator of that. I expect to see a nice increase in power production in the Cell, and would not rule out 20-25 homers for the guy.
  19. Teahen will decidedly not put up Getz like numbers next year. For one, i expect to see at least 15 homers out of the guy, and a nice bit of doubles too.
  20. I'm in the Pods being gone might be best for this organization. I mean... i love the guy. He was my favorite player back in 2005, but his D and his disturbing lack of fundamentals is a detriment to this team. And i don't think we can afford to DH him.
  21. Assuming Viciedo starts in AAA, this year. Which might be a big one depending on who you talk to. I'd accelerate his track a bit. I coud see Viciedo poised to have a cup of time in september, and compete for the job the next spring.
  22. God, is next year going to be fun. I can't wait.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Teahen is an absolute garbage 3b. How much of this is a testament to him being moved around so much?
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) In essence, they wasted a year with Beckham at 3B then. Some of his errors may have essentially cost us a chance at the playoffs, and now it's like we totally threw a season away. I hope this pays off. i don't see it that way at all. The point was to get Beckham AB's, he proved himself at the big league level. Hell, if anything this is confirmation that Viciedo and Morel might have a future in the corner in the next couple of years.
