  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) You're just about the only person who feels this way. Sorry. Tell me why Chris Getz is a good player. Tell me why he's better then Nix or Teahen. Give me some numbers, don't give me feelings.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) I personally hope we sell NIx. I don't like the way he plays the game. It's that kind of crap that made Chris Getz into a legend on this board.. What don't you like about Nix? That he struggled at hitting RHP in his rookie year? That he can hit for pop, steal a base, field the damn position better then Getz? The raw data works in Nixs' favor.
  3. Nix is not going to lead-off for us. He'll hit 9th, i expect.
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) Nix is not becoming a starter. Get that one out of your head. Nothing has changed. You were telling me that Nix wouldn’t have the job before Getz was gone, and now you’re telling me it again. At least, you’re being consistent. The only thing we lost in this trade was a liability, a liability that would have stayed with us, because of some misconceived notion of what makes a player “good.” The fact is Getz doesn’t have the raw potential of any of the guys that are going to take his job here. We lost nothing. I like Chris Getz; I’m not going to miss him
  5. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) God damn it... This deal makes no sense at all. Add salary, open a hole at 2B, and we don't even get a prospect. For Mark Teahen. Wonderful. There's no hole. The hole is filled by a better player. Nix has more pop, better D, and a better minor league track record.
  6. I'll say it again Nix is a better player then Chris Getz. Mark Teahen is a better player then Chris Getz. CJ Retherford will likely be a better player then Chris Getz. It adds up to me as a net gain.
  7. Getz will be playing off the bench for the Royals. 2b. Callaspo SS Betancourt (HAH) 3b Gordon i don't think Chris Getz is someone we'll ever regret trading. I will miss his baserunning, and the kid did work his ass off out on the ball field..
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) The Sox seemed to be pretty high on Getz It now strikes me that a lot of that could have been talking his value up.
  9. I think we'll have another second-base battle like last year. Teahen playing the part of Getz (the shoe-in, if Teahen isn't already our OF) Nix playing the part of Nix (project with great D) Retherford playing the part of Beckham (the underdog) I will, however, not rule out us signing someone bigger.
  10. Good. Kotsay's a nice player, a great bench bat.
  11. I don't get how people take such issue over the Retherford love, a guy who gets on-base and hit's for extra-bases and an impressive rate, but are pining so badly for Getz, a guy who i never saw doing either thing very well.
  12. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) Who's going to be the stolen base threat now? Beckham is good for 15. Nix is good for 15 Rios can give you 25. Missle could land you about 20. Pods will get caught half the time, but manage in the upper 20's.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) Trading for the sake of trading doesn't excite me. Trust me it isn't. This opens all sorts of doors. I love Nix, but this organization doesn't. This really does increase the chances of more moves.
  14. This is a Retherford move, not a Nix move. If Retherford hits at all in spring, which he will be invited too, he has the job. I do, however, think that Teahen will gets some reps at 2b.
  15. I like this move quite a bit actually. Teahen is essentially a mega-utility player who scouts used to peg as the next Jason Giambi. He's not going to reach that, but he kills us. He kills in the Cell. Fields has no future here.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:01 AM) For some reason I have grown to dislike Teixeira a lot during this postseason. Something about him wants me to punch him. Might have something to do with him being a greedy bastard. Even removing the Yankee's stint, Tex and Boras make quite the money-grabbing team. So, i'm listening to Your Love trying to recapture some baseball good feelings. Pleased to say it's working.
  17. So, think Swish will be placing a thank you call to KW?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) So why didn't they win it all last year? Or the year before that or the year before that or the year before that? As, I recall last year they didn’t have Teixeira, Sabathia, Burnett and Swish. There's no strategy to what the Yankee do, their resources insure competition. Money doesn't necessarily buy championships, but (if managed somewhat competently) they insure almost totally that a team will be in the position to do so. Buying the best players is neither graceful, nor particularly shocking or impressive, it simply works. It doesn't make what the Yankee do right, and it doesn't make me fond of seeing them win year in and year out. I think it's possible to win with limited resources, I just think there's an inherent disadvantage therein.
  19. Well, would you look at that. Guess you really can win by having the money and resources to buy all the talent.
  20. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) Grooming him to be a closer maybe? He certainly has the stuff to do it.
