QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) I think the world we better off that way. Simmons may be a joke, but he's less punchable. Shaughnessy has been wanking himself off over the "curse of the bambino" s*** for the last two decades. I'm actually somewhat impressed at his determination to flog that horse dry.

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 12:12 AM) The meltdown on Boston fan boards should be amazing. I think Bill Simmons may have just hung himself and somewhere Dan Shaughnessy just set down at a typerwriter with drool hanging from his lips.

QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) All of this just happened within about a minute and a half of eachother.. crazy Baseball is just funny that way. Amazing.

I'm a radio DJ out here at UCONN and i'm actually on air right now. It was all i could do to drag myself away from the TV and down to the station, where of course, everything is f***ing blacked out. Thank you gamecast! WHAT A NIGHT!

Your favorite moment(s) of the 2011 season?
ThunderBolt replied to Jordan4life_2007's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Pretty much the official end of the Ozzie era. I know it sounds petty but i honestly couldn't handle following the team this year and that's all on him. -
I'm cautiously optimistic. This is a fresh start. Let's make the most of it.
-
1. Martinez 2. Tito 3. Bobby V 4. Alomar Jr.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) For me, Alomar is the least appealing of the rumored candidates. The Manny Acta managerial tree versus the Joe Maddon managerial tree. Manny Acta is a really good manager. Clearly, not on Maddons' level but it's not a huge fall-off between the two. I'm not in love with a potential Alomar move, but i understand it.

Does this mean we can finally get around to trading Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey?

The clips i've seen so far have managed to make me really angry. Every Cubs fan who threatened his well-being at the game and in the years after should be rounded up and kicked in the nuts. It makes me physically ill to watch the replay now, and just watch the poor guy shrink into his seat and try to disappear.

Ozzie Guillen Released from Contract

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 11:09 AM) This ought to be fun. I hope Spiegel takes it to him again. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) That version of Ozzie was exactly the perfect fit for that team. It was just the perfect mix of personalities. The complexion of the team seemed to change after Crede fell apart and Rowand was moved, and Ozzie never adjusted.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) I am still not sold on this idea like some other people. Just because he was a great hitter, it does not mean he will automatically be a great coach. I'm hung on this too actually. We always hope that a great hitter would make a great hitting coach, but it never works like this.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) That would be awful. You'd have two guys on your whole staff with any coaching experience, and one with experience at their job. I said cool, not remotely successful in any way. I was very careful in my wording!
-
How cool would this staff be? Head Coach: Alomar JR Bench Coach: Omar Vizquel Pitching Coach: Coop Hitting Coach: Frank Thomas Third-Base Coach: I dunno... Kenny Lofton?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) Steve Stone was on 670 this morning and stated that the search will be very "quick", and he's pretty sure it'll be Sandy Alomar, and if not Alomar, Martinez. Alomar has studied under Manny Acta (who i adore) it's not as good as the Maddon-Martinez connection, but it's not awful.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) Seems like you two were on the same page with that one. Purely intentional. We actually called each other to match outfits when we woke up this morning. -
