  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) So you agree, he was put into an impossible situation by Ozzie You know what? I do. Well played.
  2. Guys, simmer down. We're talking hypothetical trades, not life or death.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) If Viciedo struggles in the AFL there's a good chance he repeats too. Oh, i agree . I think moving Viciedo to AAA gives him the benefit of the doubt for last year, if he does nothing this fall that benefit goes way
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) There will be new guys in B'ham anyway. I'm only expecting a few repeaters for 2010. Who do you have? I see Viciedo and Retherford moving up, but i see guys like Danks, Marrero, and Gallagher repeating
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Players in baseball have roles, every one of them. Wise was stuck into a role that his career numbers dictated he should not have been. His career numbers indicate he should have never reached a major league roster. It's Ozzie fault that he never held Wise to the same standard that he held everyone else on the team.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 12:27 PM) Wise just opted for Free Agency. Why? Does he really think he'll have a better chance anywhere else but here?
  7. QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Good guy, best of luck, he'll probably get a minor league deal somewhere. He gets kind of a bad rap for being put in an impossible situation. Now to cull Lillibridge... Please, explain to me this impossible situation. All he had to do to hold down a job was hit, major league baseball players hit, Dewayne Wise can't hit. Therefore, Dewayne Wise is not a major league baseball player.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) Obama - I don't deserve this award BUT I'LL TAKE IT!!!!!
  9. Oh, god. He just accepted it. The man didn't even have the sense to turn it down.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) oh my god not this s*** again. Hey why don't you bring up his birth certificate too for the hat trick. Please, explain to me how pointing out Obama's previous jobs has anything to do with the Birther movement. Also, please point to how his accomplishments prior to being president as deserving of winning the award.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) oh my god not this s*** again. Hey why don't you bring up his birth certificate too for the hat trick. Why? I thought we were talking about what he did prior to being president? So, we can't now? Really? Damn, that just leaves the two weeks in office that he had.
  12. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:49 AM) I guess I missed the part where only his work while President was considered. You mean when he was ACORN's lawyer, or that time he worked on that panel with Bill Ayers?
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) HAHA REALLY? THIS is one of the worst things that could have happened for Obama? Not an Israeli strike on Iran? Not another banking collapse? Not 20% unemployment? GETTING THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE ARE YOU SERIOUS!! Would you like to miss the point anymore, or do you want me to step in and lead you in the right direction? Obama’s success is fueled by his image, the idea, that he gets rewarded for doing nothing, doesn’t help that. It severely hampers his prestige throughout the world, because every single rational man on the planet knows that he did nothing to deserve this award.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) You make no sense. Are you serious? Do you not realize that half the s*** Obama gets is for being a narcissist, for being the world-perceived Messiah? He got nominated for the Nobel Prize TWO WEEKS INTO HIS ADMINISTRATION. For doing what exactly? In the past few years, this award has been given to Jimmy Carter for speaking out against George W. Bush, now, it’s been given to Obama for not BEING Him. These are the questions that are going to be asked for the next couple of months. People are going to start examining the man, and his accomplishments and when that happens they just might realize that, yeah, this emperor has a Nobel peace prize, but he also has no clothes
  15. This is one of the worse things that could have happened for Obama. It completly reinforces the idea that he's famous for being "Not Bush."
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 01:17 AM) Wise actually isn't a bad reserve. He's fast and isn't a bad fielder. He's also going to be 32 and a terrible hitter, whom Ozzie plays to the point of madness.
  17. Speaking of Dewayne Wise it's about that time that kid gets an extension. isn't it? What are we thinking here people, seven years? Or is that too conservative?
  18. If we could get a guy like Fielder for Hudson, Ely, and Shelby, i'd pack their packs and send them along their merry, but i don't see that happening. I like what i see in Hudson, and assuming his control improves, he's going to play a huge factor in our rotation over the next decade or so.
  19. I'm at the point of admitting that Getz is a better option then Nix (shocking for me, i know, but Nix has to learn to hit for average before i fully invest in him), but i still won't budge on the fact that he's shown little to prove he's a lead-off option, or a long-term everyday player. I just don't see his OPB ever rising up .335, coupled with a complete lack of power this poses a problem
  20. I'm not a big fan of bunting with sacrificing figgins.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) Rios has never been an OBP guy. I'm considering retracting my statement. Obviously, if he could muster a .354 OPB that would be great, but yeah, not sure a .330 OBP is going to cut it.
  22. QUOTE (SnB @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) disappointed in the wedding episode. Agreed, i found the dance a bit off-putting. Not sure why.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 8, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) I still think Beckham makes a meanass leadoff hitter. I'd prefer to have Rios in that role. Beckham's main role needs to be as a run producer. the two hole is perfect for him.
  24. It's ridculious how bad a rap Dotel gets. Yeah, he walked too many people, but that K rate is nothing to scoff at.
  25. I have a feeling that Pods is going to be scooped up on a two-year deal elsewhere, anda lot of people are going to b**** about it over here. I think we'll be better for it. Pods was great for us this year, but his baserunning misakes and defenser were a burden to this team.
