  1. I like Levin. He screams too much, but he's actually a man with solid ideas behind his talking points unlike others in his profession.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) I would think that the people on the right who would vote for Wilson because of this would vote for whoever had the ® over the (D). The question is whether his race being polarized will cause more people to come out to vote. Generally in politics this is rarely the case, but there are exceptions.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) I saw a defense that was a shade of its former self get annihilated by the Colts that day, not just Grossman throwing 2 picks. I also saw Benson put the ball on the ground. The blame wasnt all Grossmans, although Chicago made it so No arguement from me about Benson, but I also saw a defense that was on the field so much, because the quarterback of the offense couldn't drive the team down the field, or hold onto the ball.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) When you only get 53%, you need some friends from the other party, and some independents, so losing them is pretty key. At the same time, there's a lot of people on the right who will vote for Wilson simply because he did this. Also, keep in mind Obama is currently, not the most popular guy amongst independents either. I think it's pretty much status-quo for that race, with the issue being that ample amounts of money and attention will be paid to both sides.
  5. I don’t think you could have contradicted yourself more if you made a conscious effort, ChiSox. What’s your point? That it is a b**** move, but it’s not a b**** move, because you say it isn’t a b**** move? Dice-K can throw in the side, go down to extended spring training, throw live batting practice to the team. He can do a lot of things. The point is that the Red sox chose to send him out for one game against a bunch of twenty years old, who played their asses off to get into the playoffs, and now have the cards stacked against them in a three-game series. I’m sure Loman and Morel just love the prospects of their teammates who can’t even hit low-A pitching having to face Dice-K. The minor league playoffs might not matter to you, but they matter to the teams who get there. It’s an uneven playing field.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 10:31 AM) UPDATE: The tally is up to $100,000 raised by Wilson's opponent. I'm sure it's going the other way around too. I can't see Wilson's losing anything other than democratic friends for this one.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) I realize it's kinda trifling on the Red Sox' part. But you're acting like this is some kind of abomination and that these kids, who most of them have no chance in hell at making the big leagues anyway, will be damaged beyond repair. I guess it's just me. You couldn't pay me to care about this. I don’t think it’s an abomination. I just think it’s kind of a sucky thing to do. I don’t think it will have any long-term effect on anyone, other than leaving a couple of the kids with a sour taste in their mouth.
  8. QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) As previously stated, I believe his suckiness has to do with the uncertainty of his future with the Sox, ala '07. I think it's time to move on. Lets say we sign him for another year, does pretty good in the first half of 2010. Then falls apart again in the second half all worried about his future with the Sox. I think it's more mental. JamesDiego, with a nice insightful post. Now, go back to posing half-naked pictures of Kotsay’s wife.
  9. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) It's a team game, though. You can't put that entire load on Rodgers. Why not? I mostly put the Bears Super Bowl loss on Rex Grossman. If he's the main factor in giving the ball to the other team, then the blame should be laid on his shoulder.
  10. A hit piece on Gordon Beckham’s ROY case. The logic is sound, while I disagree with both the premise and the conclusion. http://baseballdigest.com/american-league/...ie-of-the-year/
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) Overreact much? Honestly, unless you're a serious minor league lover, does anyone even know who won the Southern league title last year? How about the Kanny League? Who won it in 2007? 2006? Who won the 2001 International league title? The minor leagues are for player development. Wins and losses are a DISTANT second in order of importance. It's not going to damage these kids for life to have to face a ML caliber pitcher in a playoff series that quite honestly doesn't mean a thing. Now, who’s being over the top, Jordan? I’m well aware of just how much minor league championships matter in the greater scheme of things, I’m simply making the case that it was a bit low on the Red Sox parts to use the 1st game of a playoff series involving twenty year olds kid, as a rehab start for a mid-30’s international superstar pitcher.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) It's funny how some people say there's no way you can bring Dye back, yet they immediately want to give a second chance to guys like Rios, Swisher, saying it was just an off year. Dye obviously is hurt. You know it. I know it. Bring him back. Rios and Swisher are young ball players in their prime. Dye is an aging, veteran who is having a miserable second-half.
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) lolz who cares.. you care wayyy too much about minor league baseball For better or worse, we’ve invested a lot in these kids. It pisses us off to see something like this be forced upon them. The minor leagues are for kids who aren’t ready for the Show quite yet, to have to face a World-Series winning major league pitcher in the 1st game of a 3 game series is ridiculous and unfair.
  14. It angers me that these kids worked so hard all year, only to have to face major league talent in what many will consider the most important game of their young professional careers. It's not like the Purple Phallus' offense is any good even. They've got Morel and Loman. What kind of test is this supposed to be for Dice-K? It's a b**** move, plain and simple.
  15. The math is simple. Peavy>Torres. If he can pitch, let him pitch. If he has arm issues, shut him down.
  16. I'm an optimist. Let's do it.
  17. YES!!! HELLL YESSSS!!!! AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) HAHAHAHA great! He's really making the rounds tonight.
  19. Dunn's main asset is his skill at getting on-base. Sure he strikes out, but he also has massive pop and walks an insane amount. His plate disipline is what seperates him from K-heavy guys like C Young and Francouer.
  20. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:53 PM) LOL @ guy shouting "64 million!" to Rios. Anyone else hear that? That was Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina.
  21. It pisses me off that Ozzie can’t get along with a guy like Swish, but absolutely falls in love with a player like Wise.
  22. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:48 PM) Why wouldnt ozzie just bring beckham in? the lefty vs righty thing isnt effective when its dewayne f***ing wise... Ozzie loves DEWAYNE WISE. To the point where he will truly push KW to bring him back next year.
