  1. I'm more interested in his 2nd World Series Title, but congrats to Ozzie anyway.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 5, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...soxip04.article I understand how Mark feels. Who would have thunk that hitting homeruns in important spots could win you a ballgame?
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 11:09 PM) Not even close huh? Their's a fairly significant disparity in numbers between the two that suggests that Nix is very much the better player, and by a wide margin. This is not to take anything away from what Getz did tonight. He looked very impressive out there.
  4. Danks also stole a base. Seth Loman got back into the swing of things with a 3-6 night. Loman had a homer, a 2b, and 2 RBI's. Not a bad year from a kid we plucked out of the independent leagues.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 11:56 PM) I just hope he never gets traded, or I will never get Bye, Bye, Burdie out of my head. Birdie should be the least of your worries. We now have the two Danks brothers. Which increases the likelihood of “Danks for the Memories” and, “Danks, but no Danks.” By, like, a thousand fold.
  6. What pissed me off the most about the Boston broadcast was when Flowers came to the plate, and they insisted on showing a five minute conversation going on between Billy Wagner and Papelbon in the bullpen.
  7. Now, that was an entertaining game. Great to see Getz and Kotsay go off like that, and the much awaited debut of Dan Hudson could hardly have gone better. I was very impressed with the movement of his slider, and I like how he tends to miss low, and out of the zone. It’s a nice indicator of future success in the big leagues.
  8. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) Ah, I see now. I was wondering why I had a turd in my Wheaties this morning... Don't stop belieeeeeeevin'! Dude, that's so 2005. Try, "Josie's on a vacation far away, Come around and talk it overrrrrrrrrr."
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) We are not bringing a SS in here next year. Alexei is still ultra cheap. Plus we aren't going to block Nix and Getz. Agreed, i think our only obvious needs are a corner OF who can field his position, and a stronger pen, which can mostly be filled internally..
  10. Dayan's going to AAA next year, i'd give him an ETA of next september. My goals are the following Offense: 1. Get on Base 2. Drive Him in Defense: I'd like to see us make some active improvements here. Sign players who can field. Pitching Peavy Buehre Floyd Danks Hudson
  11. Hudson is going to make a filthy 5th starter.
  12. I was very impressed with Torres. He threw strikes, he clearly did some work in the minors and came back strong.
  13. Stefan Gartrell with two bombs tonight. The Kid can rake, average now up to .270.
  14. I just got back from class. Very impressed with Mr. Torres.
  15. Torres is looking very nice today. I want him to be a touch more aggressive, but he’s mixing and location very nicely.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:45 PM) Why does Soriano think every time he makes contact with the ball that its gone? Probably, because he makes contact so little that each time it’s like a pleasant surprise.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Thunder, I'm just saying it's hilarious and a sign of our laughable season that the man so many despise is responsible for arguably our two finest moments of the f***ing season. At least Wise has contributed to a few wins. Has Rios? See, i'm the kind of optimist that likes to think that their should be more good moments to come this year, we can go places still, but in order to so we need to win games. I don't think we can afford to do any more sunday lineups, we need to put our best 9 on the field from here on out.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Why a straight steal? Why didn't batter swing? This is another example of 2 bad teams playing. Small Ball for the Win.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) Every team has a guy or two as bad as Wise. False, and we need to get over the slavish indoctrination to the idea that two moments make Wise a good player. Because every other moment of his professional career have been absolute crap. Oh, my god. Wise beats the Yankees? Well, Joe Borchard hits the longest bomb in Cell history, Kevin Mass and Chris Shelton once looked like Babe Ruth for two solid weeks, every one of these plays had their moments. Every one of these guys has or is just about washing out in the big leagues.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Sigh...some people... Why take AB's away from AJ? He's one of the few players who has played well and as if they give a s***. So yeah, after a day off let's sit him again. I didn't say we should bench AJ for Flowers. I just find it absurd that Ozzie so called reasons for not playing any of the young guys is that it would be, "giving up". And that Ozzie instead still regards what used to be the second worst everyday player in all of baseball (Wise), as a good option to start in a very significant game, wherein, the DH is not even playing.
  21. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) AJ is the only person on that team that has it. I'd argue that Getz has it too. It's probably the best skill that he has to offer.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Why can't this guy learn how to pitch from a windup? He has a very similar pace and style to Buehrle and Danks, he just doesn’t have the stuff,
