  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) Because he's been our most consistently good hitter for pretty much the entire season? No, I agree with your premise. I’d just slot a couple guys above him with AJ falling no further then 5th or 6th in the order.

I just got back from seeing District 9. It has quite registered fully yey, but I know I really liked it. It was like… Children of Men combined with Alien, Cloverfield, and Flight of the Conchords. I know that’s bizarre, but It was brilliant.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 04:35 PM) Honestly, you would think Nix was even a decent major leaguer judging by every post you make. And I would think Chris Getz is Chone Figgins or Freddy Sanchez from the majority of what I read on this board.
  4. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) Nix 2B Beckham 3B Pierzynski C Konerko 1B Thome DH Dye RF Quentin LF Rios CF Ramirez SS Gavin 'The Stopper' Floyd on the mound. What the hell is Ozzie doing? Why is Rios batting 8th and Nix 1st? Furthermore, why is AJ batting 3rd?
  5. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) Those second half numbers are still better than what Rios has given us. Man, he is going to be overpaid. This week on: FUN WITH SAMPLE SIZES!
  6. AJ is going to feel a lot of heat from this, as well. If Flowers performs well upon his (probable) September callup, things will get dicey. Everyone needs to get their asses in gear, and play like a team in this division, with this roster, should play.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) Ozzie says the Sox future (infield) is Beckham-Ramirez and Getz. Yes, that’s my Ozzie! This division will be much easier to lose with more grinders, and less power and defense.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) That doesn't mean we need to like the errors. Errors are an odd statistic anyway, as many times they’re simply in the eye of the beholder. A lot of errors are absurd, because it took everything for the fielder in question just to get to ball nevertheless, make a play on it.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 10:35 AM) Ozzie says the Sox future (infield) is Beckham-Ramirez and Getz. No mention of 1B, but hopefully that includes PK. I like Nix, but he is the super sub. Maybe if Chris is back in sept we can stil make a run at this thing I imagine we sent Wise down to learn to play 1B.
  10. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) your right about pods, but his D and base running sucks, contenders yankees, red sox, angels Ellsbury, jeter, figgins, so my #1 thing would be figgins in the off season. Don’t look at this in a vacuum. Look at the players you listed and their teammates. This isn’t the result of being a great lead-off hitter, it’s simply being a good HITTER surrounded by other good HITTERS, and honestly, Ellsbury is more of a good base runner then anything.
  11. We hit Wakefield hard. If Floyd pitches a good ballgame, this is our winner.
  12. I suspect Sandberg will be promoted to AAA next year, and the seat will be extremely hot for “Sweet” Lou if the team pulls this s*** again.
  13. Danks 1-4 with an RBI, BB, and a K Viciedo 1-4 with an RBI
  14. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 01:04 AM) Beckham wasn't raw like Mitchell. no way will mitchell be ready. Yep, Beckham was pretty much always the player he was gonna be right out of college. I think Mitchell has about two full years in the minors before we can make any true statements about his big league future.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:23 PM) The frustrating thing about Rios is he's had a few chances to really deliver and say, help us win a division, with a big hit. He's failed like the rest of our guys of late. The verdict is still out on Mr. 40-40 (not). He’s also being sat nearly 4 times a week for no reason.
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) I know there are more mature posters on this board who don't play fantasy baseball or know the latest sabermetric stats but who's heart and eyes follow the Sox religiously without posting a hell of a lot may be a bit afraid or cautious about posting because, seriously, no one wants to be ripped to shreds because they don't know every little detail of a players contract or what his UZR is. But I know they're out there because whenever I see the "are you in or out" they show up. I’m sorry. I know there’s a difference between being a fan of the game and a student of the game, but taking issue with both these things is both petty and absurd.
  17. Hey, hey, guys! Let's all get pissed off at each other! YEAH!
  18. I’ll look at the box score, but I trust you guys a bit more. I’ve been in the car all day, just saw the score, someone want to give me the morbid details?
  19. Carlos Santana just had an absolutely absurd, slightly crazed, interview in the Giants broadcast booth. The Giants guys are still slightly stunned.
  20. It's sad the Giants are unable to score their pitchers more then one run per game.
  21. GRINDER!!! Nah, i like Chris Getz. He's the most fundamentally sound player on the team, and i like how he plays the game. I just don't think he's the best 2b on the team, right now.
  22. The Examiner runs the math, concludes Nix is better, and then oddly concludes he’d still want Getz over Nix. I think this debate calls for a new statistic, “The Grinder Effect”, I’m just not sure if it’s measurable. http://www.examiner.com/x-425-Chicago-Whit...r-the-White-Sox
  23. I’m one of the optimists of this board, but even I’m incredibly frustrated by the seemingly lackadaisical play of this team.
  24. There was a lot of posturing back and forth between the Red Sox relief core and Billy Wagner; I look forward to this being overblown on ESPN for the next couple of months. In conclusion, please god Ray and Rangers one of you win the Wild Card,
