QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) No. The only thing that was flawed was the original reference to Brandon Allen having the chance to have possibly been a starter for us next year at one of the corner OF spots. That was pretty awesome how you just made a large g while generalization while failing to back up your point. Is argument for Brandon Allen not being able to play the OF, really that Josh Fields couldn’t do it? As I said, it’s a false premise Brandon Allen is not Josh Fields nor am I ChiSox or you Thunderbolt.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) Which has nothing to do with his play in the OF. The point was that just because someone is athletic (Allen) and plays a corner IF spot doesn't mean they can play a corner OF spot as was suggested earlier in the thread. Brandon Allen is a fundamentally different player then Josh Fields. It’s a flawed comparison. And i promise you that Fields could have played LF, were we to have sent him out their more then a handful of times. It's not a difficult place to play.

Contreras to pen; Peavy to start Saturday

If a guy sucks, has sucked for the last three years, then i don't give a damn what he did in 2005. It has no bearing on the present. I want to win now, i want to experience 2005 AGAIN, that's not going to happy if we keep running a "good feelings tour" out their. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) Conor Gillaspie, last September. That was contractually obligated, I believe.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Josh Fields is also athletic and he failed as an outfielder. Fields is also a strikeout machine who can’t catch a fastball, and a defensive black hole.

About time. Both moves are logical and can only improve the team. -
GAME THREAD: Sox (63-61) @ Sawx (70-53), 6:10pm CT

Fire and Passion are bulls*** and cliche. What matters is playing good baseball. The White Sox are not playing good baseball. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:57 PM) For impatient posters begging to see him, he's just not ready yet. Let him finish out the year in AAA then next season reevaluate him. He might stay in AAA a bit longer and gets called up later on in the year, makes it out the 5th spot in ST, whatever. It's nice to see Flowers getting that walk rate up. He and Gartrell are really adjusting well in AAA. When our other options are Conteras, Garcia, and Carlos Torres. I have no problem exposing Dan Hudson to major league pitching for two months and preparing him to compete for the #4-#5 slot next year. What do we have to lose? If he's as confident as i hear he is, failure won't phase him, it will pave way for future victory. And if he's good? Well, that's really good for us.

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) Quentin's been a major disappointment, so we ought to add his name to the list. Just cashng the checks. He's playing on one foot. I'm letting him off the hook. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) If they let the Count start at NYY it's a major slap in the face to Sox fans... I would rather see DJ go, he'll give up runs, but he'll throw strikes Getting rid of Freddy and The Count would be a sign that the organization has failed in some way. I don't think Ozzie's ego will allow him to acknowledge the simple fact that they're both done. Our best bet is easing Hudson into a starter's role. I don't care if he fails, his future is bright. -

Losing this game signs this series' death warrant. It's a given that Garcia get's his ass kicked. Did anyone NOT see this coming? -

Leslie Anderson is a good ballplayer. If i remember right he was one of Fidel's favorites. Hopefully, this will work in his favor.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) Needs more Rios. Yeah, i'm not liking our 4th OF (PODS) playing 5 times a week. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) Hudson will start Game 2. Can't have too much of a good thing.

I'm in it till the end. Can't afford not to be.

Anyone else notice how well Stefan Gartrell is hitting this month?

I don’t like the argument that one has to of watched every game of Brandon Allen's MILB career to be able to pass judgment on what kind of player he’ll be. Honestly, outside of a few spring AB’s and a couple of videos on Sox Machine, none of us really have the full picture of any prospect, outside of what we’ve read, what we can see and access on paper and box scores. That being said, I feel like by looking at the numbers, reading reports, that a decent picture can be painted. The kid can hit for average, power, and run. He’s very fluid for a big guy, I always compared him to an early Lance Berkman. Berkman was always a big guy who , upon his call-up, could play every Outfield position along with 1B. I see. Brandon Allen is in similar mold where pure athleticism alone will carry him places.
-
QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) Vicideo is a good candidate for 1B. Viciedo is also 5'11. I imagine he'll be in LF in two years.
-
Carlos Torres better stop walking so many people if he ever wants to be a legitmate factor for the big league club.
-
The kid had a bum wrist, and tried to play through it. I wouldn't be worried unless he fails to improve by years end.
-
Trading Allen was a mistake, no doubt about it. Hopefully, Marrero and Phegley can help ease the pain. We'll survive.

Really good to see Danksy perform. It's been too long.
